The insta-love.
The perfect couple. The enchanted fairy tale.
The concept of âhappily ever afterâ on reality TV is beautiful, but itâs complete B.S.
I mean, I get the appeal.
The One is the most watched reality TV dating show because it sells the idea that two people ârandomlyâ handpicked by producers will fall in love and ride off into the sunset. We are expected to believe that after having a group of women embarrass themselves for the affection of a man on national television, the bachelor and the chosen one fall in love and they live happily ever after.
Letâs be honest.
Shows like The One are really about fantasy romance and must-see entertainmentânot happily ever afters. Thatâs why the creators and producers donât show what happens after the exotic getaways, lavish lifestyles, and over-the-top proposals. Even though reality TV relationships never last, they want us to buy into the fairy tale.
Truth is⦠when the cameras stop rolling, the number one killer of reality TV couples is real life.
And life just got REAL.

The cattiness.
The fights. The shaming.
I don't generally watch reality television, but I definitely don't watch reality dating shows. Besides the fact that it's completely staged, it's a horrible depiction of people -- women especially.
Women are pitted against each other to compete for the affection of a man they "fall in love" with after a week or two. I call B.S. It is complete crap.
So when my best friend, Koko, was hired as a makeup artist o the set of the most popular reality dating show, The One, I teased her mercilessly.
She told me that if I didn't stop teasing her, she would get me back. And she did... Which is how I ended up as a contestant on The One. Buy The OneAbout The Author

Her pert little nose scrunches in deep concentration. She leans back on the stool and carefully brushes her hair from her cheek hooking it behind her ear. She searches the room as if she can feel my eyes boring into her soul, needing her to know who I am. Our gazes collide and like a vortex in the center of a tornado, my tunnel vision zooms in on her. There’s no one else but us. A familiar ache surfaces, one I thought I had outgrew long ago. For a split second something in her stare, maybe the slight flicker of awareness or her deep intake of air, but I think she recognizes me. The moment ends when her friend snaps her fingers drawing her away from me and back into the conversation. “M’aingeal…” “What the hell are you saying now?” Gunner interrupts my drifting thoughts. I’ve forgotten where I’m at. She’s done that to me before. “Nothing, man.” “What does magel mean? C’mon, dude. I need to know.” “You’re butchering my language. It’s M’aingeal. You pronounce it ‘Mayn-gel’.” I snicker, “Maw’s Irish Catholic and Pop is Cajun. Let’s just say growing up in my house was a never boring.” “You’re full of surprises.” “Hoo-ha you have no idea, mec. My little bro is a natural born hellion. Tell him the sky is blue and he’ll argue that’s it’s not just blue but white, grey and black. Any other color he can think of. Pop says he’s got too much of maw’s Irish side in him. I won’t disagree out loud or she would box my ears good.” “Damn, I’d forgotten all about those times my grams boxed mine. Geez. Feels like another life ago. She was strict. Never let me sit down at the table without my hands washed and shirt tucked in. She even made me say ‘Grace’ before eating. I miss that woman.” “Funny the little things that bring you ‘round.” “Ain’t that the truth. Is that why your ears look so funny? You’re mom’s wrath? They stick out like dumbo,” he jokes and takes a swig of his beer. We are both laughing releasing some of the tension that’s circled us, since we left Perry. Maybe he is salvageable. Maybe he can help us find the missing pieces after all. We abruptly stop laughing when Gunner slaps my shoulder and nudges his chin upwards. That’s when I see her. I look into her eyes and wonder why she doesn’t know me. Have I changed so much that she can’t see me. C'est la vie. “Can we join you, si?” the beauty standing before Gunner asks him. I can’t take my eyes off Jocelyn. She’s making me want something I was sure I had lost overseas. “Well...I…,” Gunner stutters and shoves me again. He’s such a douche bag. I glance at him and sigh. “Pull up a chair, ladies. We’re just enjoying the wonderful Florida weather that’s brought us all here. Can we get you something? I’m sure the selection isn’t what you’re normally use to, but I’m sure there’s something we can find that you might want on the menu,” I wink. They share a smile and a faint tinge of pink appears across Jocelyn’s cheeks as she makes her way to one of the vacant chairs. She sits down in the one closest to me. Placing her elbows on the tabletop and her chin between her hands, she leans inward. Fuckery! The up close view I have of her sends shockwaves through my system. My memory didn’t do her justice, and this near, the sprinkle of angel’s dust along the top of her nose and cheeks has me fighting the urge to touch her. I’m snapped out of my lust filled moment when Kendall approaches our table. “Hey girls. I see you found…” “Crash, name’s Crash and this is Gunner,” I say nodding in his direction. Kendall frowns at me and I plead with my eyes for her not to say anything else. A disapproving look follows but she doesn’t correct me. “Buenos notches, amigos. I’m Katrina and this is my friend, Jocelyn.” “Hi,” Jocelyn quietly says. “So, does anybody need a refill?” Kendall inquires. “Mojito, please.” “I think I’ll have another rum and coke.” “I’ll have another beer,” I say and Gunner seconds my order. “I’ll go grab these and be back in a jiffy.” Kendall wanders off stopping a few times to talk at tables on her way to where Grady is manning the bar. He leans over when she motions him downward and covers his ear. He looks at me and then back down at her, intently listening to what she’s saying. He shrugs his shoulders and says something back. Apparently she’s not happy with him, because she turns and walks into the kitchen area without a backwards glance. I wait for him to head over but instead he looks at me smiling. What the hell did she say to him? She’s probably pissed thinking I’m going to hurt her new friend. If she only knew the history behind my decision to remain anonymous. She would be chasing her away from me. The baggage I carry is for only me and I don’t want to share it with anyone, especially Jocelyn. She’s too good, too innocent, to be able to understand what drives me now. I’m not the same guy she knew in high school, carefree and happy. I haven’t been that way since reality set in. Back before I left on my last tour of duty, I wouldn’t have given my actions a second thought. I can only imagine scooping her up in my arms, feeling her body against mine, and holding her close. Not letting her place a foot on the ground. I would hold her until I had my fill and only then would I let her out of my sight. I’m so messed up. Gunner’s goofy grin has me focusing on the convo. He’s got his chin propped on his hand staring at the ladies. I follow his stare making sure he’s not ogling Jocelyn. I will knock his ass to the Georgia/Florida line, if he tries flirting with her in front of me. The thought of her with someone else sends waves of anger flooding my brain. I relax my posture when it registers that he’s watching her friend like a love sick puppy dog. Wimp. “Si. I’m serious. We were drenched from the pouring rain. Jo’s hair kinked even curlier than normal when the cool air conditioning hit it, as if that’s even possible, with the corkscrews she’s got.” “Geez Rina. Thanks for the visual.” “Well you looked like you had stuck your finger in a light socket,” she stutters and busts out laughing over her own joke. “I wasn’t the only one. You were sporting kinky ringlets from the eighteenth century, too.” “My hair isn’t as thick. Yours is so thick. So juicy, niña,” she giggles eyeing the man beside her. “Here you go, folks. Drinks for everyone,” Kendall says and hands a tallboy to me. “Any news on the roads clearing?” “Sheriff radioed and they are working on securing Route 441 near twin lakes. He’s talking to Grady about using sandbags in some places. We’re close to the dam and possible flooding is always a worry.” “Sand bags? Shit. Why me?” “Honey child, you think sandbags are a bad thing, you ain’t got a clue,” Kendall answers and spins away. “I guess the weather’s going to get worse, huh?” “Maybe. Maybe not. You never know with hurricanes. Some are as fickle as women. One minute she’s moving directly for you, you blink, and she’s gone. You never know what direction, she’ll go.” “Hmph. You use ‘she’ like she’s a real living breathing person.” Jocelyn says while sipping her drink. “Well it is Mother Nature we’re talking about here.” “Pleeeeeeease. Men can be fickle, too.” “We can, can we?” She leans in close to me, licks her lips, and whispers in a low sultry tone, “They always seem to want more than what they can handle. I’m sure you know my meaning, Crash. How boys will be boys and boys like their toys and stuff. Well that goes for older boys, too, sugar plum. Seems like a never ending battle for y’all to always want to play with fire.” I position myself even closer to her and reply for her ears only, “Oh but darlin’, I’ll let you in on a little secret...for the right woman, I want to burn.” F.G. If the glass slipper fits…
Allie
It’s hard to remember that love is a fairy tale when he comes to my bar.
He’s a complete stranger, an escort, an actor.
Now I’m playing his princess.
I don’t love the pretense, but the glimpses of the real man, those I crave.
Until the clock strikes midnight and this Cinderella finds out what the real stakes are.
Kaiser
An escort? That might be who I pretend to be. In reality? A crown prince.
I’ve been running from who I am for so long that I ran into a problem.
A pretty, dark haired, hazel-eyed, problem.
A girl who is all wrong for the life I’m supposed to lead.
The bigger problem? I like who I am when I’m with her.
Not the escort.
Not the prince.
The real me.
But it can’t last, not when my real life is catching up with me.
Can it?
Standalone within a Series
His name is Scorch, and he’s my fantasy come to life. I should have known finding a real life hero was too good to be true. But after he rescued me from my captor I couldn’t see him any other way. Then he tells me he works for The Vice Agency, a company that simulates fantasy into reality. And that everything I know about the last twenty-four hours is a lie. Except for the men chasing us. Someone wants me dead, and Scorch is the only thing keeping me alive, but he doesn’t want to be anyone’s hero. He’s a damaged husk of a man. I swear, if we survive this, I’m going to find a way to prove to him he’s not only a true hero, but he might be more than just the man of my fantasies.
Misti Murphy is a sadistic b*tch who loves to emotionally torture fictional people. If she did that in real life she’d probably end up in prison or a psych ward so she prefers to create dirty talking alphas and the sexually frustrated women who fall into their beds. And if someone needs to be smacked upside the head before f*cking turns to love then that makes her very happy indeed.
She’s a huge believer in flaws making us human, and that not everyone likes bacon. She’s also addicted to chocolate and scared of the effects of the coming shortage. She swears like a f*cking trooper, and thinks that graphic smuttiness should be as real in fiction as it is in real life.
When she’s not writing she’s the perfect housewife and mother. Ha bloody ha! When she’s not writing she’s hiding in a cupboard with her kindle, scoffing chocolate, and stalking facebook.

Until I saw her standing like a vision in the crowd. Austin Stone is dangerous. Alluring. Tempting. He broke my heart and I refused to give him the chance to do it again. Our desire is overpowering. Our need unrelenting. She is my hope. He is my weakness. We should have known a passion this intense would burn us right into the ground.

I sucked in a breath, released it between clenched teeth, and forced myself fully under it. Head dropped and chest heaving as rivers of ice-cold water slicked down my shoulders and back. But it did nothing to lessen the need. Gave me no sanity or pacification. Because all I could think about was the girl on the other side of the door. My girl. In my bed. Wearing just her panties and my shirt. An angel I wanted to dirty. I always had. Love was messy like that. All of my restraint scattered. I gripped my cock. Squeezed the base. My mouth dropped open at the pressure of my hand against my rigid length. A fool thinking it might be enough. Shit. God, I was a bastard, but there was nothing I could do before I was giving in, leaning forward and bracketing my forearm above my head to hold my weight. Water pounded down on my head and back while I pounded my fist against my dick. Trying to keep silent when all I wanted was to moan, teeth digging into my bottom lip as I pictured the girl spread out for me. My breaths were coming short. Panted and hard. I gave into imagining the sounds she would make when I finally got to bury myself in her body. A soft, soft gasp. I slowed, trying to convince myself that throaty sound was all in my mind. Just another part of this fantasy. Until I heard the small thump against the wall. Shit. I mashed my eyes closed, like it might hide me. Conceal the depravity of my actions after I’d just been comforting her hours before. Heart thrashing, I turned and moved far enough to peek out the small section where the fabric shower curtain hadn’t been drawn fully closed. It was just a little sliver that left me exposed. But it was enough. When I peered out, I was looking right at my girl pressed up against the wall. She stared right back at me. And I wanted to be horrified, my mind scrambling to conjure every weak apology I could summon. Ready to fucking grovel to keep her from turning and running once again. Because that’s exactly what I expected her to do. But her expression…her expression clutched me in the center of the chest and sent what little brain function I had left stampeding south. Red, lush lips were parted, her hand pressed to her hollow of her throat, pupils dilated so big that her hooded, cerulean eyes appeared black. Needy breaths were coming at me from that sweet mouth like a goddamned freight train. Desire swelled in the confines of the too-tight room. Alive. She pressed deeper into the wall as if it might support her weakened knees. Head rocked back. Thighs squeezing together. Motherfuck. My hand shot to the shower wall to steady myself. “Warning you, Edie, you need to get out of here. Right now.” a Rafflecopter giveaway

EXCERPT ONE
I feel powerful.
Even as his finger slides between my breasts . . . stinging me, burning me . . . I feel powerful. Because he asked permission, and I granted it.
The decision was mine.
Jax doesn’t have to know that I’ve dreamed of his hands, and his fingers, and his lips. He doesn’t have to know how tempted I am to say yes.
I writhe on his lap, swaying to the music, and he groans roughly. His hands grip my hips, crushing me harder against him, and I feel him. I feel all of him.
He wants me. There’s no denying that.
But I’m a naked girl dancing on his lap. Of course he wants me.
Jax trails his nose against my throat, and the sensation causes me to cry out. He breathes me in, making my body tingle and crave and tremble. His quiet groan vibrates against my neck as my hips grind against him.
“Does that feel good, Tesla?”
I whimper, because it does. It feels amazing.
“Imagine how good it’d feel . . . without the barriers. Without the rules. Without the clock. This could be us, in my bed, in those heels, and I could touch you. Really touch you. The way I’ve wanted to touch you since the first time I saw you on stage.”
My fingers find his hair, and I pull roughly, causing him to growl my name.
“If you’d just been a gentleman. Maybe asked me out to dinner. Asked for my number. I wanted you to ask. I’ve wanted you to ask for weeks.”
“I’m not a gentleman, Tesla.”
It’s a confession.
A warning.
Our eyes lock, and I see him. I really see him. He’s handsome and rich and used to getting his way. His touch scorches me. His eyes radiate through me. He makes me feel beautiful, sexy, and desired.
But it’s not enough.
No matter how good it feels to be held by his strong hands, and no matter how good it feels to grind against him . . .
I’m not this girl, and I never will be.
There’s a knock on the door, and I leap from his lap, leaving him confused and breathless and very, very aroused.
I struggle to catch my breath as Rick’s voice slices through the music.
“Sorry to interrupt, Mr. Monroe. But your driver’s here.”
Jax growls, and I have no idea if it’s because he’s angry or horny.
Or both.
Probably both.
I reach for my shirt and jeans, desperate to be dressed and out of this room. The clock says I still have thirty minutes, but fuck it. I’ll tell Rick to dock it from my pay.
“Do you know what’s really sad, Jax Monroe?”
He shifts uncomfortably in his chair. “What’s that?”
“You could have had me for free.”
I walk out.
EXCERPT TWO
Her long brown hair flows down her back as she wraps her legs around the pole. She's poetry in motion . . . graceful and gorgeous as she dances on the stage. In a room filled with the completely generic and fake, she is extraordinary and real.
She arches her back, giving us a spectacular view of her perfect breasts. Peaks and valleys of soft pink flesh that are just begging for my hands. For my lips. For my tongue.
I'm the one who is completely ordinary, because I'm no different than any other man in this room.
We all want her.
None of us can have her.
Or so they say.
I've built a billion-dollar empire by being a master negotiator, and I am determined to prove “them” wrong.
Whoever they are.
She dances on this stage, and around that pole, night after night. We watch, because we're men, ruled by our animalistic desires and straining erections.
We all want her, but the rules are consistently enforced.
You can look, but you can't touch.
I want to touch.
Desperately.
Her legs are long and lean in her stilettos, and I wonder if she would wear them in my bed.
I bet I could convince her.
Money is quite the bargaining chip. It can move mountains, open doors, and crumble defenses.
And, I think, it can convince a beautiful stripper that one night in the bed of a billionaire would have to be better than dancing for a room full of them.
I'm not a complete monster. I know there must be a story behind the pretty green eyes of the woman draped around the silver pole. Most girls don't dream of becoming strippers. Granted, this is a gentleman's club, which means the tables are a little less sticky and the bouncers wear tuxedos, but I'd still be willing to bet my life's fortune that this particular career choice is her idea of a last resort.
It doesn't have to be.
The thumping bass of the song resonates in my ears and the liquid in my glass coats my tongue as I drink and watch. Her beautiful body shimmies down the pole . . . slowly . . . enticingly, and I hear the quiet murmurs of appreciation from the other assholes in the room.
She dances away from the pole and closer to the edge of the stage. She bends, tilting her head forward, and I watch, mesmerized, as her hair cascades like a waterfall. The music changes, and she leans her head back. My eyes linger over her . . . along her lovely neck and down the length of her delectable body.
I lower my glass just as her eyes meet mine.
I'm paralyzed.
Hypnotic.
Emerald.
Our connection is brief, but in that moment, I get a glimpse of her soul.
And she gets a glimpse of mine.
The song ends, and the spectators whistle and cheer.
But not me.
The gears in my mind shift and spin, and within seconds, I have a plan.

Alison Mello is a wife and stay at home mom to a wonderful little boy. She lives with her amazing family in Massachusetts.
She loves playing soccer, basketball and football with her son. After having her son, Alison started reading again and fell in love with Contemporary Romance.
Reading made her happy and gave her something to do when she had downtime.
As she started to read more, she started to noticed things she really enjoyed in a book and things she didn’t. She began to have ideas for writing one of her own. One day she literally woke up and started writing. She realized that if there was ever a time for her to write, it was now. She had a part time job to give her something to do.
The hours at work were slow and she was bored with what she was doing, so while her son was off enjoying his friends over summer vacation she got started.
Alison finished the first book in two weeks and decided that she really enjoyed writing, so she kept going. She already had ideas in mind for books two and three, so she kept writing.
That is how the Learning to Love Series was born. Somewhere along the line, one of my Beta readers convinced me that Michael, a character from Finding Love, needed his own story.
That is when Alison added the fourth and final book. Alison hopes you enjoy her books as much as she enjoyed writing them.
