Julian grabbed the donuts and pointed the remote at the TV, turning Parks and Recreation back on. “Can we start from the beginning? I’ve never watched this show.”
“What?” Amalie gaped at him. “Never?”
He shook his head and bit into a donut. “Never.”
“Then yes, we can totally watch from the beginning.”
They sat side by side, shoulder to shoulder, thigh to thigh as hilarity unfolded onscreen. But at some point, Amalie’s eyes grew heavy, and before she knew it, she was startled awake by the feel of a gently calloused hand running up her arm.
When she opened her eyes, Julian stared back at her, his beautiful face mere inches from her own. She was nestled against his side, held against his body in an even more intimate way than before. The backs of his fingers played along her jawbone, and she couldn’t help but inhale the scent of his cologne that lingered on his wrists.
She had to be dreaming.
But then Julian leaned forward and pressed a delicate kiss to her cheek. The warmth of his lips seared her skin and heated her from within. She closed her eyes, hardly able to think. If she just turned her head, their mouths would meet, and it would be over. Any restraint she’d had before would be no more than a memory.
Her heart pounded like a drum as desire stirred through her like a living thing. She ran her hand up his arm and twisted her fingers in the fabric of his shirt.
Julian pulled back, staring her in the eyes again. “It’s almost midnight, princess. I couldn’t let Valentine’s Day pass without you getting a kiss. Even if it was from a jerk like me.”
The corner of his mouth curled, and she tried desperately to mirror the action, her mind swirling back to the reality that this night wasn’t going to go any further, which was for the best. She knew that, even if her body hated her for it.
Julian slipped from her grasp, grabbed his tie, and slipped on his shoes. He snatched one last donut, then Amalie walked him to the door. Even still she ached to feel him against her one more time, which seemed wild now that she was waking up.
“See you tomorrow, princess,” he said, “and Happy Valentine’s Day.” He leaned forward in the doorway, kissing her on top of her head. “Don’t say I never gave you anything.” He winked and gestured with his donut, and then he was gone.
Amalie pressed a hand to her chest to steady her fluttering heart, thinking he’d given her more than he knew, and it terrified her.

She has been an avid reader ever since she was a little girl. From this, came a very wild and often weird and twisted imagination. She's always spinning stories of fantasy and steamy romance in her head.
When she's not trying to keep up with a million-and-one stories that comes to her, you can usually find her binge watching The Simpsons or Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Well This Sucks, a steamy and fun vampire story from CoraLess June and Carrie Gray is #comingSept2th!
I treat eating pancakes on patios like it’s a personality trait.
Brunch is my jam. I like the beach, shopping, carbs, and reading naughty books on the train during my commute. I wear pink. Lots of it. If Tinder were an olympic sport, I’d take home the gold. I can rock stilettos like they’re a pair of Nike joggers. I’m basically a basic bitch.
I’m in the prime of my life. I’ve got my dream job as the head of marketing at a sex toy company, and I’ve been steadily dating myself for the better half of the last decade. I’m thirty, flirty, and thriving, dammit.
Or at least I was, until some fucker had the audacity to turn me into a vampire.
I don’t do blood and doom and gloom. I sure as hell don’t like sleeping in a coffin, avoiding garlic bread, and these ridiculous vamp politics. And don’t get me started on Diego. He’s vampire royalty and a pain in my ass. A very sexy pain in the ass. When he’s not driving me crazy with all his rules, he’s turning my panties into Niagara falls.
I absolutely refuse to live the rest of my immortal life in some wannabe nineties grunge music video.

I have always loved to read. In kindergarten, I was the weird kid sitting in the reading nook by myself instead of trying to get more snacks. I’m excited to be putting my own voice on the page and watching a story I helped create come to life. I still love to read, but I also really like snacks.
I grew up in Chicago but recently moved back to the Dallas area where I live with my husband and son.
I have my Bachelor of Science in Biology. I spent a year researching chimpanzees and gorillas while I was in Chicago and then I spent another two months on a chimpanzee sanctuary trying to convince headstrong chimps to cooperate. Seduce her forever crush? Epic fail!
The sexy rancher is clearly not interested in long-term. In fact, he’s not interested, period. But Emma is determined to change his mind until his cousin, Gabe Buchanan, puts a definite crimp in her perfect plans.
Gabe has come to help his cousin with work around the ranch while struggling to unravel his next book plot. The last thing the he expected was to find literary inspiration in the curvaceous cowgirl pining over his cousin. Determined to prove he is the right match for her, he devises a plan to win Emma’s heart.
As much as Emma wants her childhood crush to finally take notice, she can’t help but be intrigued by sizzling hot and funny Gabe. When he asks her out, she can’t say no. Besides, it’s just a friendly dinner. No big deal. Yet when the lines between casual and interested blur, neither can deny the chemistry between them.
Can Gabe fill every box on Emma’s checklist and give her what she needs the most? His heart and a future together?
“He’s a handsome devil, isn’t he?”
A low voice drawled from the back end of the car and she yanked her hand away as if it’d been scorched. She scowled at Gabe, who leaned against the bed of her truck, one ankle crossed in front of the other, arms folded across his chest as he smirked at her. Cam must have put him to work today, since it appeared he had just showered. His sandy brown hair was damp where it curled around the nape of his neck and up under his hat. His plaid shirt was clean, his jeans, worn and comfortable-looking, frayed along the seams, as if they were old. And damned if he didn’t look even better than he had in his fancy, city clothes that morning.
She folded her arms and glared. “I thought all cars are women. Temperamental and something to be taken care of.”
He pushed off the end of the truck and sauntered toward her. “That’s a very old-fashioned view of women, Emma. First off, women don’t need to be taken care of. My momma taught me that they can handle most anything thrown at them, possibly better than men, and I listen to my momma. Second, I believe in equality. A car can be male or female, and trust me. This beast is all male.”
She sucked in a breath and narrowed her gaze. He was going to school her on feminism? “I don’t need a lecture on women’s rights, Gabe Buchanan. Because this car is tough, it must be male?”
Gabe’s smile never wavered. He leaned forward as if imparting a secret, his breath teasing her ear. She shivered. “Nope. I checked under the chassis. He’s male.”
He stepped back, his laughter ringing out around them. Her eyes widened and she was about to give him a blistering reply when she paused, realized he was teasing her. She relaxed and laughed with him. “Do you take anything seriously?
He cocked his head, considering her words for a moment. “My momma, because she scares me. The IRS, for the same reason. God, because I’m hedging my bets there. And my family. Other than that, probably not.”
She shook her head and turned to the cab of her truck. “I don’t think I’d better take anything you say seriously.”
He rested a hand on the frame of the truck, right above her head. “You want to go for a spin? He handles real nice. If you’re good, I might even let you drive him.”
“And how do you define nice?” She tensed, waiting for a smarmy come-on.
He must have correctly interpreted her body language because he straightened and his tone, when he spoke, was serious for once. “It’s simple. Kind words, respect, maybe a little flirting. Nothing else. Anyone who asks for anything else is an asshole.”
Ever since Megan Ryder discovered Jude Deveraux and Judith McNaught while sneaking around the “forbidden” romance section of the library one day after school, she has been voraciously devouring romance novels of all types. Now a romance author in her own right, Megan pens sexy contemporary novels all about family and hot lovin’ with the boy next door. She lives in Connecticut, spending her days as a technical writer and her spare time divided between her addiction to knitting and reading.

SynopsisAn ancient grudge. A forbidden love.
The only thing worse than being a demon is being a Valari. As an undergraduate at Los Angeles’s Alameda University, Kara Valari can sometimes succeed at forgetting she’s both. Lost between the pages of the classics and tucked into the shadows of lecture halls, she can dodge the paparazzi’s lenses as well as her family’s publicized dramas—not to mention their private expectations. She has one more year to feed her true passions. Then she’ll be expected to fulfill a much darker destiny.
Cursed with inexplicable strength and godlike stature, literature professor Maximus Kane knows all about darkness. To atone, Maximus spends his nights alone and his days submerged in the quiet life of academia. His existence has become a study in control, and he’s become a master at it—until Kara Valari walks into his toughest course.
Viscerally, Kara’s everything he craves. Logically, she’s everything he rejects. She’s a starlet of privilege. She’s also a student. And after one touch, he can’t deny that she’s awakened something in him that may never go dormant. Nothing about her makes sense, but everything about her feels right. Especially in the deepest strands of his DNA, which are still shadows of mystery to him—a mystery Kara seems determined to uncover.
She’s Hollywood royalty. She’s forbidden fruit. And he’s pretty sure she could be the answer to everything.

4.5 Heart Review by Lorena
Well what can I say? Nicole Dykes has become one of my top authors with her emotional, angsty with full of drama stories.
The Sterlings come with many problems, sacrifices and heartache, but no matter what, they overcome their problems.
In this story Lola is definitely a woman who needs to stop putting everyone first and think about herself and what will make her happy. She was a tough girl who did everything for everyone, she tried to fix her siblings problems because it was much easier to fix everyone else's problems rather than fix her own.
In Restrained she finally gives us her story and how she was able to fix her own broken life.
This book was exceptionally well written and also captured my heart as much as Regrets did. All these books come with a lot of heartache and much emotion. Nicole Dykes is one of my top authors in this category.

Dating Mr. Darcy
How on this sweet Earth did I get myself into this position?
I’m not talking metaphorically or spiritually or anything like that here, you understand.
Oh, no. I’m being much more literal.
Right now, I’m all alone in the back of the limo, whizzing through the outskirts of Houston on my way to some ranch out in banjo territory. I’ve managed to remove my mic, which was a feat all its own, and now I’m wrangling with my Timothy leggings. With an almighty effort, I pull them up to my thighs, my dress bunched up under my chin. Ever bunched up a sequin dress under your chin? Not comfortable.
As the car turns corners, my task becomes increasingly complex. Just when I scoop my butt up off the seat to pull the leggings up, the car turns, and I go crashing into the door. Luckily it’s firmly shut or I’d be splattered across the road somewhere.
By the time I’m halfway done, I’m hot and sweaty and panting like I’ve gone three rounds in the ring with Muhammad Ali. Or some other boxer from this century. (Fighting’s so not my thing).
My leggings finally in place, I heave a sigh of relief. Time for my Timothy top. I pull my sequined dress over my head, only for it to get snagged on my hair.
I tug at the dress. It pulls at my hair but it holds tight. I tug again. This thing is not budging.
The car begins to slow. I peer out the smoky glass window and see a large house at the end of the long drive. It looks like a ranch in the middle of nowehere.
Panic begins to set in. I need to get this darn dress off and pull on my T-shirt over my strapless bra, and I need to do it now.
As the car slows to a stop, I yank on the dress, hard, only to cry out in pain as my hair refuses to untangle itself from the many sequins.
I hear a car door thud closed and know the driver is about to walk around to open my door.
No! We can’t be here already!
Think, Emma, think!
In just my leggings and strapless bra, my dress acting as some sort of weird hair extension, I’m not only going to be the laughing stock of the nation, but I’m sure the Mr. Darcy wannabe will send me home before he can say “that one was totally cray cray.” Penny’s and my dream will amount to nothing.
With probably less than about three seconds to go before the driver reaches my door, I ditch the near-impossible hair issue and focus on getting my top on. I grab it out of my clutch and loop one leg through, then the next. With a strength that would impress Wonder Woman herself, I yank the top up over my thighs, and begin to loop an arm through one side. So far, so good. All I’ve got to do now is loop the other arm through and …
The next thing I know, the wall I’m leaning up against gives way and I fall backwards out of the privacy of the limo and land with a thud on my butt.
As my butt meets the hard, unforgiving ground, the wind is instantly sucked out of me and the pain sears. Trying to regain my balance, my legs flail in the air like I’m some kind of insect that can’t get itself back up. At least twelve different cuss words erupt from my mouth. Cuss words my mother would blush to hear me say.
Everything goes quiet around me.
Smooth, Emma. Real smooth.
“Well, that was quite an entrance,” a voice says.
