RAVEN
Flight or Fight #1
Ashley Suzanne
Re-Releasing Sept 8th, 2015

In the debut of Ashley Suzanne’s blistering-hot Fight or Flight series—perfect for fans of Monica Murphy and J. Lynn—two sparring partners put their hearts on the line and push their bodies to the edge.

Rian Fields is done being a punching bag. When Rian was thirteen, her only friend walked out on her, leaving Rian alone to mourn when she lost her mother three years later. Then he came back into her life senior year, igniting new desires—and breaking her trust permanently when he enlisted in the army. Now Rian has finally found an outlet for her rage against the world: mixed martial arts. But just as she’s learning the ropes, Garrett Rhodes turns her life inside-out one more time.

As much they hurt each other, Garrett never got over Rian. So when he gets the call that she’s in jail, he bails her out, no questions asked. The years have toughened her. Made her harder. Sexier. All she needs to make it as an MMA fighter is the right coach, and Garrett’s man enough to train her. He just has to go toe-to-toe with “Raven,” the fearless woman who takes control in the ring . . . without falling for Rian, the vulnerable girl who still drives him crazy.

Ashley Suzanne has been writing for as long as she can remember. As a youngster, she was always creating stories and talking to her imaginary friends. Thankfully, her parents also carried this love of fiction, and helped her grow into the bestselling author she is today. When Ashley isn’t coming up with her next story, you’ll most likely find her on the couch, telling her husband all about her new book boyfriend, or spending quality time with her two gremlins . . . er, adorable children.

Rian Fields has had a lot of bad things happen to her. She lost her mother when she was a teenager, being sent to live with her aunt. Her best friend when she was in middle school moved away, leaving her with nobody. Rian Fields believes that she is meant to always be alone.

That is until she finds her childhood best friend once again at her new school. Finally admitting their feelings for each other, they try a relationship, only for Garrett Rhodes to join the army three months later.

Skip ahead four years. Rian is once again alone. She sleeps with random men to try and fill the hole inside her. Finally, she finds something that will allow her to relieve her frustration. Everyday she is able to let go for a few hours, taking her mind off of the things she so desperately craves: love, sex, and just someone to be there for her.

I love Ashley Suzanne. So much. Her Destined series was fantastic! But, I honestly think this is the best book she’s written. I simply have no words for it. I screamed at it, I almost cried… almost, it’s hard to get me to cry at a book. This novel is filled with twists and turns that will make your head spin. In a good way, I promise.

What I’ve realized, after reading her Destined series, is to always expect the unexpected. I knew that something was going to happen, something I wasn’t going to expect. But I had no clue what it would be. And it happened! And I messaged her right then and I said “You did it again.” That’s the thing with Ashley Suzanne. You will never see what’s coming.

I loved the relationship between Rian and Garrett. I think they were perfect for each other. They had this love that you could feel coming out of the book, dragging you in. It was sweet, really. Perfect for this book.

Ashley Suzanne gets five stars from me! This book is absolutely mindblowigly amazing. You have to read it!

Review by Ashley

Books like Raven are the reason that I enjoy reading. I absolutely devoured it. I was drawn in from the first page and couldn't put it down. It grabbed me by the throat and the heart and didn't stop.

The lead character, Rian, is a tough as nails. She has lived and endured more than anyone should have to for only being 22 and because of that is has a lot of anger she doesn't know what to do with. The book follows her story from the time she was young. Though it does jump ahead in large chunks, it doesn't detract anything from the story. Then there is Garrett. He & Rian were best friends as kids until he moved away. Years later, they are reunited only for him to have to leave again. While he is away, tragedy strikes Rian again and she doesn't handle it well and flees. After getting herself into some trouble, she comes face to face with Garrett for the first time in four years.

From there the sparks fly. This is not the sweet, teenage love anymore but a deeper, full of longing and hope love. They have some issues to workout but they find a way. Just when things are looking up for the couple, a blast from the past storms in and threatens everything they've built. Without giving too much away, it is Garrett to the rescue in a big way.

Overall, this is a easy read. While there are some heavy subjects, they are handled realistically and with delicacy. This work is everything I've come to love and expect from Ashley Suzanne- quick paced, steamy and engaging. I hope I get to see more of these two in the future.
