Laire, who wants more from life than her little island can offer, is swept away by wealthy, sophisticated Erik, who is, in turn, entranced by her naiveté and charm. The two spend a whirlwind summer together that ends on the knife-point of heartbreak and forces them to go their separate ways.
Years later, when fate finds them together once again, they will discover the terrifying depth of the secrets they kept from each other, and learn that shattered hearts can only be healed by a love that willfully refuses to die.

4.5 Star Review by Ashley
I am a sucker for fairy tales and Katy Regnery's modern twist on these classics is the perfect blend of hopeful, sweet and heartbreaking. Don't Speak, the retelling of The Little Mermaid pulled at my heart from the first page.
I was as enamored with Larie the first time I met her. She was young and eager for so much more than the traditional island life laid out ahead of her. She wanted adventure and a love for the ages. When the handsome and charismatic Erik spotted her, his world stopped. He had to meet the red-haired beauty. Only problem was he wasn't an island boy. He wasn't from, nor did he understand her world. He lived by a different set of rules. Rules that he was willing to break to spend time with Larie.
These two stole a summer of fun and romance. For both Erik and Larie it was an awakening of their minds and hearts. They fell hard and fast. But oh how young love made them soar and break at the same time. Their time was running out before they ever really started. It took one malicious moment in time to change their lives. Gah! My heart. Larie's heart. Erik's heart. Broken.
I'm not going to say much else about what happens because the good just kept getting better. I will say I LOVED how Regnery fast forwarded the time and brought me into the here and now. Years later with big changes happening for both Larie and Erik. As much as my stomach was in knots, Don't Speak left me with a happy smile on my face.
