Iâm that guy.
Camilla Landry rustles against me, the silky fabric of her overpriced lingerie slipping along my bruised rib. The porcelain perfection of her skin is even more innocent against the colorful ink dotting my own. Itâs demure meets damage, pampered meets punctured. So, yeah, itâs obvious Iâm that guy. Dominic Hughes. Her attempt at rebellion. Her bid to see what the other side of the tracks feel like. Iâm okay with being used because, from where Iâm sitting, the other side of the tracks have never looked so good.
4.5 Star Review by Ashley
This is the book I didn't know I've been waiting for! I was itching to see how those Landry boys would react to their baby sister and the man she loves. And Adriana Locke did not disappoint. At. All. Swink was charming and sweet while still being sexy and full of heart. And of course, the Landry men, in all their hilarious and protective alpha glory, played a big role. Camilla- I didn't see this woman coming at all. And neither did her brothers. She sprouted a backbone of steel that seeming came out of nowhere to her family, but not the man who gave her the courage to just be her, Dom. Oh my swooning stars!! THAT MAN!! Strong and resilient, just a touch jaded but with a heart of pure gold. He and Camilla were polar opposites- from the world they came from to the way they saw the world, it shouldn't have worked. It shouldn't have made them both soar. It shouldn't have made sense, and to Cam's brothers, it didn't. BUT to them it did. I loved the family connection on both sides because so much of who Camilla and Dom were revolved around that facet of their life. Dom with this brother, who was awesome. And Camilla with her boisterous bunch. They proved that it doesn't matter if you have a million dollars or ten to your name, the things that really matter are how you treat others. How you lift each other up and support those you love when they need it. How you can be honest and still kind. How no matter what is said, what's left unsaid, what's done or not done, at the end of the day you know they've got your back. Sigh, swoon and and all the feels in between. Swink gave me everything I love in a book. Friendship. Humor. A touch of drama. Steam. Family. Growth. Love. Dom and Camilla's story was a beautiful journey of acceptance and compromise. Adriana Locke has created a truly special world with the Landry family that I absolutely love being swept away in.
Excerpt
Heâs standing in the doorway, one hand on the sweatpants that hang just below his chiseled hips and the other leans on the frame. The tattoos that mark his flesh are vivid against his bare skin, making the blues of his eyes shine.
He flashes a lopsided smile my way. âTook you long enough.â
âI donât drive like a bat out of hell,â I laugh, stepping past him. âDid you shower already?â
âYeah. I smelled like gym floors.â
âAs long as you donât smell like gym whores,â I say, setting the bags on the table in the kitchen.
His laugh is contagious and I feel myself smiling. A set of arms cage me in from behind, grasping the table on both sides of me. My skin breaks out in a shiver as his lips find the sensitive spot behind my ear.
His face buries in the crook of my neck and he takes a long, leisurely breath. âYou smell so good.â
âKeep doing that,â I say, relaxing my head onto his chest.
âWhat?â
âTalking with your mouth against me.â
âYou like this?â he asks all breathily so that each word whispers across my skin.
My eyes fall closed as I relish in this moment of nothing but him. âNo, I love this.â
âCan I tell you a little secret?â
âAs long as you keep talking, you can tell me whatever you want.â
He chuckles, dotting kisses up and down my neck. âI love this too, feeling your body give up the fight of the day and let me take over.â He turns me in his arms so Iâm facing him. âI love that you trust me enough to let your shoulders sink out of that perfect posture you walk around with.â
As he reaches up and undoes the elastic in my hair, I watch his features soften. He moves carefully, unwrapping the tie from the twisted mess in my locks, careful not to pull.
âThere,â he says, cupping the back of my head through my long tresses, âthatâs better.â
âYou donât like my hair up?â
âNot like you had it. You look to lunching-y,â he says, wrinkling his nose.
âLunching-y?â
âYes,â he grins.
âYou are too cute.â
âYou are too fucking sexy.â
Reaching up, I swipe the pad of my thumb over the cut above his eye. He flinches, but just for a second. âWhat happened?â
âBondâs right hand.â
âI hate him.â
âSo do I,â he snickers.
âLetâs get some ice for it.â
He leans in, his brows tugging together. âLetâs not.â His eyes hood as he takes me in, his tongue darting out and wetting his lips. My knees weaken, my body humming with delight at his reaction.
âI want to take care of you,â I whisper, although thatâs really on the backburner now. âLet me baby you.â
Instead, he lifts me up and places me on the table. My stomach clenches as he positions himself between my thighs, my sundress curling at my waist. I ring my legs around him, pulling him so close that the soft cotton of his sweatpants rubs against my opening.
He looks down. âYou arenât wearing panties.â
