Book One in the Consolation Duet Liam wasn’t supposed to be my happily ever after. He wasn’t even on my radar. He was my husband’s best friend—forbidden. But my husband is dead and I’m alone. I ache for him and I reach for Liam. One night with Liam changed everything. Now I have to decide if I truly love him or if he’s just the consolation prize. ------------------------------------------------------------------ (Content below this line is only shown after clicking "Read More") Review by Lorena This series continues on to Liam and Natalie (Lee). I totally fell in love with this series starting from the Duet Series. Corinne has a special way of telling military stories and they are emotional, sad and in the end happy. I literally wanted to toss my kindle across the wall when I finished reading Consolation because that cliffhanger really -- literally leaves you hanging! Natalie gets a knock at her door and gets the devastating news that her husband was killed in the line of duty. Natalie is devastated because she always knew what could happen but she never expected that it would happen to her. Aaron was the love of her life, they were high school sweethearts, her only boyfriend and husband. Now Natalie needs to move on with her life and she doesn't know how to because she has always been with Aaron. Now she has to not only think about herself, but about the baby she is expecting. Liam is Aaron's best friend and also a Navy Seal. Once Liam moves back home he decides to be close to Natalie, to help her cope with her loss and be there for her whichever way she needs him. He is her distraction and she is his. They seem to have a connection from the get go and what they never expected was to fall in love in the process of healing from this horrible pain of losing Aaron. Some shocking revelations come to light and Natalie feels hurt by everything she's finding out about her husband. She needs Liam now more than ever. Can Liam help Natalie move on and only love him. He doesn't want to take Aaron's place, but he does want Natalie's love for himself now that Aaron is gone. How did this even happen? Hey, love is unpredictable and it comes when you least expect it. This book was beautifully written and I don't think there is another guy out there like Liam. Not only is he patient but he's understanding and he truly fell in love with his best friend's wife and his baby daughter. Not too many men are that honorable out there these days who is willing to step in and take over a family. I am looking forward to Conviction. I can't wait to continue reading this beautiful story. Liam totally has my heart <3 5 star read for me About the Author Corinne Michaels is an emotional, witty, sarcastic, and fun loving mom of two beautiful children. She’s happily married to the man of her dreams and is a former Navy wife. After spending months away from her husband while he was deployed, reading and writing was her escape from the loneliness.
Both her maternal and paternal grandmothers were librarians, which only intensified her love of reading. After years of writing short stories, she couldn’t ignore the call to finish her debut novel, Beloved. Her alpha Navy SEALs are broken, beautiful, and will steal your heart. She had me hooked with Claiming Addison and she surely didn't disappoint with Craving Talon. Her books are just super, super HOT. Craving Talon not only had holy hotness involved with pure and raw sex between this trio, but there is a little bit of everything in this awesome book. The mystery involved will have you craving for more. Reading this series has my panties sizzling and boy oh boy I think it's even better than watching an actual erotic movie on t.v.! If you love to read menage, then you definitely need to get moving with reading this series. It's so hard to read a book that has not only a trio involved but this trio is unique because it's not all just about Addison, it's about Talon and Kyle too and Talon and Kyle are also involved amongst themselves as well as adding Addison to this menage. I'm not a big fan of reading about men getting their groove on together, but this just has me hooked. All three get along superbly. They make a great menage couple and all Kyle and Talon want is to make Addison happy so what Addison wants, Addison gets. I loved how they didn't hide their relationship, they showed their love for each other and didn't give a care in the world what anyone thought. As a matter of fact, it seemed like everyone approved and was jealous of their love. This book will have you hooked and you definitely need to get started with this series if you haven't yet. This author will hook you and you will crave more and you surely will not be disappointed. Total 4.5 stars for this spectacular read!! Zoey has harbored a love for Blake since she was a teenager but she knew that the love was forbidden. When Zoey first met Tegan, Tegan made it clear that she didn't want girls to friend her to get to her brothers so Zoey felt like she had to hide her feelings for Blake. Blake was oblivious to Zoey's feelings because Zoey made sure she hid them well. Zoey considered The Callahan's like a family since her mom and dad never had time for her and pretty much locked her up in a boarding school when she was a teenager. Once she graduated, she figured that her best bet was to go to Paris for a while and try and forget Blake. But once Zoey returns to Beachwood Bay as an assistant to a director, she see's Blake again and her feelings for him return. This story keeps going back and forth. Zoey tries to make Blake jealous by pretending to flirt with other men and Blake gets jealous and that's when he realizes that Zoey means more to him than he wants to admit. I totally digged that Zoey just took it upon herself to find her courage and just go up and tell Blake how she has felt for him and what she wants from him. It sure left Blake stunned, but that was the only way that Zoey was going to get anywhere with Blake (if at all). Blake irritated me at times because he knew that Zoey has always harbored feelings for him, his brothers even told him so. So why did he have to act like it was such a big surprise when Zoey kissed him on New Year's! Either way, this was a cute read and I really, really love reading these forbidden loves. Something about these types of stories keeps me intrigued and it captivates me and each story always has a little twist and a different taste for my liking! 4.0 stars for this great read!! Peyton Callaghan is a fighter, a survivor, a warrior. When it was kill or be killed, she didn’t hesitate. Now, she’s the only one left standing, haunted by the ghost of a dead man and plagued with the guilt of having taken another person’s life. The upheaval of her life to start over in Rock Falls has been rocky at best, her worst nightmares and wildest desires colliding with each other. Terror tortures her nightly, breeding fear inside her dreams, and in every waking moment, she fights against the lust that threatens to drown her. Jayden King harbors secrets beneath his outward playboy demeanor. The women who warm his bed lay claim to nothing—you can’t lay claim to someone who doesn’t have a heart. His wit and charm are exquisite means of deflection and distraction from the turmoil roaring inside him. He’s hidden in plain sight, a mask of humor keeping the sadness at bay. The only real reflections of his soul are in the artwork he creates, pieces of him muraled on the skin of others. If tattoo artists could have a calling card, the etch of pain and suffering in each design would be his. Because when the lights go out and the women he’s satisfied have gone home, he’s alone with every fear he refuses to face. After suffering from a brutal attack at the hands of her roommate’s stalker, Peyton is forced to live with the object of her affection. Without intention, she breathes love into his starved heart, and although the mere thought of that terrifies him, Jayden would burn the city down to keep her safe, causalities be damned. Some people you have. Some people you hold. She can have him. She can hold him. But can she keep King? Or is it impossible for Callaghan to keep something that was never really hers to begin with?
