Anthony Bear and Christy Chapman are from two completely different worlds. Anthony's the leader of a motorcycle gang that terrorizes Florida’s West Coast. As a child, he ran away from his family and the Cherokee Indian Reservation to enter a life of crime. As an adult, he leads a multifaceted life managing his two businesses—his legitimate landscaping venture, and his loan shark and underworld dealings. Driven by anger and betrayal, Anthony begins the hunt for Christy’s father, Van Chapman, after he runs out on a loan. Christy’s privileged life is not as it seems. She has kept painful family secrets and hidden some of her own. She’s determined to find out the truth and expose Van, but her search delivers her right into Anthony Bear’s hands, adding kidnapping to his list of crimes. Their worlds are as contrasting as the color of their skin. The only thing they seem to have in common is their mutual disdain for Van Chapman…and each other. They couldn’t be more wrong.

In this second of the sultry, Western-set Coming Home series from New York Times bestselling author Harper Sloan, Quinn Davis might finally have a shot at her own happily-ever-after—but will she let love in, or will she tell it to go ahead and kiss her boots?
Quinn Davis prefers to live her life quietly. She’s the stereotypical tomboy with two overprotective big brothers who have always been there to protect her, especially from devilishly handsome cowboys with silver tongues. That is, until Tate Montgomery comes riding into town. Their first meeting, however, is far from something out of a fairy tale and only further convinces Quinn that men aren’t worth her time. Tate returns to his childhood hometown to start his life over and get a second chance at happiness. He might not remember Quinn from the summer vacations that he used to spend on his PawPaw’s farm but all it takes is one glance, and he can’t get the raven-haired beauty out of his mind. Can two people who have stopped believing in love take a chance to find it in each other? Or will the pain of the past prove too great a hurdle to conquer?
5 Star Review by Ashley Oh my heart! I feel like I say that with every Aly Martinez book but this one made my chest physically ache. The Darkest Sunrise started with hope and promise and then on the next page my heart was just ripped plum out out of my chest. Charlotte, I just wanted to wrap her in my arms and hug her. I could say I wanted to take her pain away but that just isn't possible. Nothing could heal her heart. Take away the darkness that was her world. Until Porter Reese burnt his way into her world. I loved how adorably awkward these two were. With dry senses of humor and a world of hurt in their past, they got each other. They accepted and didn't try to change the darkness that lived in their souls. No judgements. No excuses. It was a perfect plan, until it wasn't. Until they wanted the light. With every page read, every tear shed, every brick Charlotte and Porter tore down, my heart, and theirs began to heal. And then the fragile ground they had built went sliding right out form under them. HOLY MOLY! I thought I had this one pegged but this is Aly Martinez I'm talking about. I should've known to expect the unexpected. I absolutely can not wait to see what is in store for Porter and Charlotte in the finale of this duet! I NEED it...like yesterday! 5 Star Review by Lorena One of the most emotional books I've read this year! This book had it all. Emotions, love, regret, sadness, happiness. I mean, you name all the emotions you can and you had them all in this book. You get two broken people in this story. They are broken in different ways but broken nonetheless. Trying to move forward is hard especially when you live with guilt and remorse and constantly blaming yourself for what happened in your life. Charlotte and Porter both are broken souls. They didn't think they could move forward from their haunting pasts but when they both come across each other, it seems like they're destined to fix each other one way or another. This was a very well written story that will leave you emotionally stressed and craving more. I can't wait to finish reading and finding out the conclusion to this story. This sure was an epic read! If I could give this 10 stars then 10 stars it would get About the Author Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her four young children.
Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and baked feta. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person. She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side. She is suffering from unrequited love. But it’s time to move on. No more stalking, no more obsessive calling. What she needs is a distraction. The blue-eyed guy she keeps seeing around campus could be a great one—only he is the new poetry professor—the married poetry professor. Thomas Abrams is a stereotypical artist—rude, arrogant, and broody—but his glares and taunts don’t scare Layla. She might be bad at poetry, but she is good at reading between the lines. Beneath his prickly façade, Thomas is lonely, and Layla wants to know why. Obsessively. Sometimes you do get what you want. Sometimes you end up in the storage room of a bar with your professor and you kiss him. Sometimes he kisses you back like the world is ending and he will never get to kiss you again. He kisses you until you forget the years of unrequited love; you forget all the rules, and you dare to reach for something that is not yours. For all his attitude, Tessa should hate Hardin. And she does—until she finds herself alone with him in his room. Something about his dark mood grabs her, and when they kiss it ignites within her a passion she’s never known before. He’ll call her beautiful, then insist he isn't the one for her and disappear again and again. Despite the reckless way he treats her, Tessa is compelled to dig deeper and find the real Hardin beneath all his lies. He pushes her away again and again, yet every time she pushes back, he only pulls her in deeper. Tessa already has the perfect boyfriend.
