STRONG SEXUAL CONTENT, MATURE CONTENT, and STRONG LANGUAGE. Jordana Albanese grew up in a world spun with lies, secrets, and multiple sins. Her father, Gene—reigning king in the Mafia for the last decade—never protected her from his underworld dealings—La Cosa Nostra. She learned at a young age that in order to survive in her world, one must be dominant. She wore the shield of control on a daily basis, but she deeply yearned to slip it off and dispose of it. Except, letting it go would mean letting it all go. And she didn’t want that. She learned of a compromise—where she could only let go of control in private, behind a closed door, while receiving orders from him. Not simply to be controlled, but to be dominated. The only problem was that her ambitions cut bone deep. Deeper than a belt across her ass. Deeper than the marks from the restraints he used to subdue and pleasure her. The permanent marks left were not visible to the human eye. They were profound wounds—scars—on her soul that only she could experience and draw strength from. And that’s where she found the perfect balance in the two. Her submissive tendencies served her well in the bedroom. While in public, she was every bit as dominant as her male counterparts. She can forgive, but can she forget? Some days, Everly still thinks she sees him. In the food court at the mall, or in a car speeding past as the light changes. It only lasts a second, but when it happens, she slips back to a time when she was ruled-and nearly ruined-by August Kincaid. And it doesn't matter that she's moved on, that she's about to marry another man. In those moments the only thing she can do to regain control is take a deep breath and remind herself that August can't hurt her-because he's in a coma. Except that he's not anymore. August is awake. With no memories, he sets out to solve the mystery of his lost life. He unearths a photograph of a beautiful redhead named Everly and knows instinctively that she's the key. But when he finds her, the August she describes is more monster than man. Tortured by the thought of having hurt her, August wants only to become the man Everly deserves. As the new August emerges, Everly glimpses the person she first fell in love with. But can she trust that this August is real? When the final secret of their shared past is revealed, one of them will make a choice that changes their future forever . . . Four Star Review by Ashley There was something about the cover of Forgetting August that just drew me in and begged me to pick it up. So I did, without even reading the synopsis...From the beginning I was confused and wondering just how it would all piece together. Somehow as the story progressed and I became more invested, some questions were answered while others were raised. I really felt for August. He was so lost in a world he had created but had no recollection of. Time is like that, she doesn't wait for anyone, let alone those hanging in the balance. My heart went out to him but at the same time I really didn't want to like him for the torment he had subjected Everly to. However, I admired him for the man he became- one worthy of forgiveness and love. One who rewrote his path on his terms and lived freely. Everly- where do I start with her...such a complex woman. She has a kind and giving heart even after having lived through something traumatic. Something no one should have to experience, especially at the hands of those you love. But she is also closed off and retreats into herself when things get to be too much. And when her world is turned on its axis with August's return I was happy to see that she reached out instead of within. She did what she needed to do- not for anyone else but herself. As Everly and August build new memories by revisiting their past, I found myself rooting for them. Those moments were special and touched a special place within me. It showed me how much she really cared- despite the past. But when the biggest obstacle, Trent, resurfaces, Everly is thrown back into her past and all that she had suffered. August is at a loss as to what is going on and does the only thing he knows which is whatever it takes to protect the woman he loves. Ugh! My heart ached- these two had suffered enough. And when Everly did what I didn't want her to do, I threw my kindle. Forgetting August is a second chance romance with an extra special twist right at the end that left me with my jaw on the floor. I can honestly say that I did not see that one coming at all. J.L. Berg went for it with this one and I devoured every moment of it. My emotions were high and went all over the place. From confused to sad to happy to heartbroken to complete and utter shock. Talk about a cliffhanger! I will be waiting with baited breath for the next installment of this duet, Remembering Everly (which has an equally gorgeous cover). About the Author Author J.L.
