**Warning** This book is intended for a mature reading**

Greg Cage was born to protect. While growing up, he was his mother and sister's shield against the world... until he failed. For the last decade, he has carried that guilt and need for vengeance around... until it was stripped from him. Now, with his best friend getting married and no longer needing his protection, he is even more lost, completely adrift, and desperate for some control. All he has ever known was how to protect: his family, his friends, and his country. Can he go against everything he has ever known, and give up that control?

Melissa Larson will never let anyone hold the reins in her life. She has been the rock in her family for more years than she can remember, and the fight to keep them together is her main priority right now. She has always been fiercely independent and proud. The last thing she will ever do is ask for someone else's help. But when that choice is out of her control, forcing her to rely on others to save her and her family, and pick up the pieces that are left, will she be able to let someone else be her strength?

The second Greg locks eyes with Meli, he knows that she is someone he needs. Someone he craves. Meli knew the second she met Greg that he would be nothing but trouble and heartache. Her life takes an unexpected turn, and that bitch Fate is back to wreak more havoc on another member of the Corps family.

All hell breaks loose, leaving Greg no choice but to call in a favor. He hooks back up with his old friend Braxxon Breaker from the Breakneck MC. Together, they make sure that nothing threatens anyone Greg loves again.

Cage is the second book in the Corps Security series by Harper Sloan. Where the first book, Axel, was told in the point of view of (you guessed it) Axel and his girl Izzy, this one tells the story of Gregory Cage and the woman he’s falling for, Melissa Larson.

Gregory Cage is very protective of his girls. Well, they’re not exactly his, but they’re the girls he is around every single day. He helps them out when they need it, no questions asked. So when Izzy asks Greg to take her son to the doctor’s, he immediately says “No problem,” and is over at her house in less than ten minutes.

That trip to the doctor’s changed his life. Covered in baby puke, he stares into the eyes of the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen. He doesn’t know her name, just that she’s a nurse, and she might make his dick twitch in his pants.

Desperate to know who she is, he asks around. He finds out that she is friends with Izzy, so when he sees the hot nurse at Izzy’s bachelorette party, he makes his move.

That night he and Melissa spend hours in his bed. The connection they feel towards each other is undeniable and even though Melissa only wants it to last one night… she falls into the spell that is Greg Cage.

Greg has some information that Melissa doesn’t. It’s big news too. Afraid to tell her, he hides it, knowing that if she found out, it could potentially ruin their relationship. Greg takes that chance, praying that Melissa never finds out.

Greg is also being stalked, and I use that term heavily, by a girl he used to hook up with. She is certifiably CRAZY. Like you don’t understand. She’s psycho. Yeah, nuts. Coocoo. Not right in the head. However you want to say it. She does not understand that Greg is done with her and will do anything in her power to destroy the relationship that Greg and Melissa have, including eavesdropping. And I bet you know where that goes.

I love this series. From the prologue of book one I was hooked. Harper Sloan is a terrific writer and knows how to make the females swoon with her characters. Each member of the Corps security team is hot. They’re big, badass, sexy, and caring. That’s like every woman’s dream man. I would love to live in her book, just so I can stare at these men all day.

The relationship and dynamics between characters is incredibly real. Greg Cage is a best friend, a brother, a boyfriend, and a dad. Yeah, you gotta read to learn about that one. It’s incredibly sweet and heartwarming. Greg interacts differently with Izzy, Dee, and Emmy as opposed to Melissa. I think Harper does a great job at making the dynamics between characters seem real.

The sex scenes… wow! They are incredibly hot and steamy, and you’re gonna want some relief afterwards. Harper Sloan is amazing at writing those more erotic scenes. Trust me, you will want some satisfaction after you read the scenes between Greg and Melissa.

Five stars again for Harper Sloan and Cage. I am going to order the next one, Beck, in paperback, since I have the other two in that format. I heard it’s an ugly cry. I’m scared. Stay tuned for that review!

About Harper Sloan

Picture
Harper lives in small town Georgia just a short drive from her hometown of Peachtree City. She (and her 3 daughters) enjoy ruling the house they dubbed 'Estrogen Ocean', much to her husbands chagrin. Harper has a borderline unhealthy obsession with books; you can almost ALWAYS find her with her eReader attached. She enjoys bad reality TV and cheesy romantic flicks. Her favorite kind of hero--the super alpha kind!

Harper started using writing as a way to unwind when the house went to sleep at night; and with a house full of crazy it was the perfect way to just relax. It didn't take long before a head full of very demanding alphas would stop at nothing to have their story told.
