Bentley Jenkins has lived in his older brother, Baylor’s shadow since the day he was born. Never feeling like he could live up to the high standards that was expected of him, he set out to make his own name for himself. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a well-respected one.
Playboy, smooth talker, ladies man; these were just a few of the names that he was directly associated with. He took pride in the fact that he never had to seduce a woman to get her to fall at his feet. Normally, a look, a wink, and a flash of his sexy grin was all it took.
Any woman would jump at the chance to be with him, so much that he’s never heard the word, no.
Until the woman who claimed to be infatuated with him for years.
Until the woman he now couldn’t seem to get out of his head no matter how hard he tried…
Placed him in the Friend Zone.
Miriam Armstrong changed his entire perspective on women and for the first time in his life, he found himself wanting to settle down, to be a one woman man. But first, he needed to prove to Miri that the chemistry between them was worth being pursued, and that he wanted to be…More Than a Friend.
Review by Lorena
From the get-go this book was interesting. Something about these books where they're just friends and can't admit to each other that they have stronger feelings for each other drive me crazy (in a good way).
Bentley has always been a womanizer, but something about him makes Miri fall in love with him, maybe it was the fact that he was so nice to her when she first moved to Oregon to live with her grandma after her parents died and she was a geeky freshman in high school. Although nothing ever came of it and time passed and they each had moved on.
But when Miri runs into Bent at his brother's wedding, her feelings for him come crashing back and he feels something for her, he just doesn't know what since he's never done love before and wouldn't know jack about what love is.
Miri decides that staying clear of Bentley is the best thing for her. She knows that she'll just be a one night stand for him and her heart won't go for that because she wants more with Bentley than just one night. So she makes him an offer to be just "friends". Bentley can't seem to pinpoint what it is about Miri that pulls him towards her but he knows he just can't stay away from her. He hates the fact that she doesn't want to take things to a whole new level (sexually) with him but he'll take it to just be by her side.
Can these two finally admit to each other how they really feel or will they continue playing this cat and mouse game?
It takes one person and one cause for Bentley to realize how much he loves Miri -- but can he prove to her that she means more to him than just a one night stand?
Ms. Nation did an exceptional job with this story. Granted, we didn't get any sexy scenes until the end of the book but regardless, the plot and storyline were enough to keep me rooted and glued to my kindle. We don't always need the whole sex scene in every chapter to captive our attention to the book or kindle and this definitely was a story that didn't need all of that in order to keep you hooked to the story.
