When Greyson Archer tosses a twenty on the stage of a strip club, the last thing he expects to see are the haunted green eyes staring back at him. Finley should be home raising her infant daughter and baking cookies, not tucking singles into her G-string and giving lap dances.
Greyson can't deny that he'd like his own private show, but there's not a chance in hell of that happening. The last time the former Navy SEAL saw her she was dressed in black, holding a folded flag and sobbing that it was all his fault... and he agreed with every single word. He couldn't do anything to help her then, but he can now.
Finley deserves better than this dingy club, and when an obsessed customer crosses the line, Greyson leads the rescue and will do whatever it takes to make amends for their broken past.
He never expected to want to settle down, but with Finley, everything is different. For the first time ever, he can breathe. But Greyson will have to fight for what he wants in order to keep the woman with the green eyes he's dreamed about so often.
Slow & Steady is book 2 in the Alphas Undone series, but can be read as a standalone novel, as it features a new couple.
Review by Lorena
This is book filled with emotions that will have you feeling sad and conflicted at times because you don't know if Greyson and Finley should go for it and make it work or not because of her situation. Her husband got killed in a mission gone wrong in the military and Greyson blames himself for this since he was in charge of the mission.
Finley has moved on and has been struggling trying to support herself and her daughter so she finds the easy way out and strips in order to make money to pay the bills and support her daughter.
When Greyson walks into this shady strip joint and sees Finley dancing and taking her clothes off, he just about loses his marbles. From that point forward he does everything in his power to try and help Finley and her daughter. He feels guilty for what's happened to his good friend and Finley's husband so the least he can do is look after his girls. The only problem now is that Greyson is starting to fall for Finley but Finley can be a stubborn mule and doesn't want to accept Greyson's help or even his advances when tries.
Finley's daughter Maple gets attached to Greyson though and Finley starts noticing how Greyson is getting attached to Maple too. That's something that she has to take into consideration because her baby is starting to fall for Greyson just like the mama.
Will Finley forgive Greyson for her husband's death and will she be able to give this magnificent man an opportunity to show her that he can be better for them and be there to provide for them financially as well as emotionally?
This book gripped me from the start and I loved this story. This was a totally romantic yet sad story that will tug at your heart especially because there's a child involved and children always, always win my heart over and the alpha males that win these little girls or boys hearts always win mine too!!
Ms. Ryan has become one of my top fav authors and when a new release comes out from her, I am always super excited to get my hands on her books and read them as soon as I get them because I love her style of writing and her stories always keep me focused and entertained.
4.5 star for this magnificent story!
