Sometimes life isn’t always that perfect script.

After a decade of searching for happiness, Brooke Anderson finally found what she was looking for when she collided with the one she let get away.

The devastatingly handsome Rich Davis not only offered Brooke her dream job, but his heart as well.

Just when everything seemed like a perfectly scripted fairy tale — tragedy struck.

Will Rich and Brooke’s love survive? Will their script finally end in the Happily Ever After they both so desperately desire?

Review by Ashley

I have been waiting for what seems like forever for the follow up to M.C. Decker's debut novel Unwritten. Especially after that heart stopping cliffhanger. I actually let out a happy little squeak when she released Unscripted a few days early. You absolutely have to read the first book in the series before going into this one. While there is enough information provided for you to be able to follow along there are some intricacies of the plot that can't be understood without the first book.

Unscripted picks up a bit after the events at the end of Unwritten then travels back in time to fill in the missing gaps. The opening really pulled at my heart and had me gasping and shaking my head. The devastation and pain was palpable and my heart hurt right along with Brooke's. Thankfully, she had her best friend and the sister of her heart, Cass there to hold her hand. But Cass also gave her the kick in the pants she needed to get out of her own head at times too. In her confusion and pain she turns to someone unexpected, Jason. I was thinking to myself don't go there Brooke. But she did and it only drove home how much she loved, missed and needed Rich.

Rich, yes- mini spoiler alert- he is alive but not well. The shooting and other events that happened that day really got to him and he is not the same man Brooke fell so hard for. His downward spiral effected everyone around him. Even his best friend Blake couldn't get through to him. It took another tragedy to pull Rich from his stupor but what a turn around he made. Gone was the cold, abrasive, lost man and in his place was the warm, caring and genuine man that I remembered. I was so happy to see the change in him and how he fought to win back Brooke's trust and heart. He pulled out a few big moves that had me swooning.

But in true M.C. Decker fashion, it wasn't smooth sailing for long. Aubrey, that royal piece of work is back with a new scheme up her sleeve. I love that it didn't tear them apart this time but managed to make Rich and Brooke stronger and bring them even closer together. It also put into motion another part the future that they wanted so desperately. I loved seeing this softer side of Rich and Brooke.

Overall, Unscripted was a well rounded conclusion to the tale that started with Unwritten. It was messy and beautiful all at once, just like life and love. Brooke and Rich fought hard for the happiness and future that they wanted with each other. They wrote their own story and it was a happily ever after that was perfectly them. M.C. Decker made me laugh, cry, fan myself, swoon and sigh. I sincerely hope that this isn't the last I see of them or Blake and Cass.
