Falling in love is easy.
Falling out of love is the hardest thing in the world.
And Elin and Ty Whitt are terrible at it.
The first time the local basketball star smiled at Elin, she was a goner. It was just so damn easy to fall for the dark-haired hometown hero with his charming smile and strong, athletic build.
Thousands of sleepy smiles, aimless drives down country roads, and squeaks of the backdoor after a swing shift later, reality hits. And it hits hard. Falling in love was definitely the easy part. Watching it break apart was impossible.
Through the tears, the second-guesses, the memories of a life built together, the world keeps spinning. With each turn comes clarity and hope—sometimes in the form of a pair of muddy boots by the back door or from the words of a wise friend.
When Ty shows back up with a new found determination to put his family back together, Elin's torn between the fights of the past and the possibility of a new start. This is the man that holds her heart, the man she loves beyond anything else. But this is also the one person in the world that can cause her the most pain.
Life’s not always easy. Love’s not for the faint of heart. But with life comes lessons and Ty and Elin have the scars to prove it. But it's their love written in those scars that will hold them together … or break them apart.
Review by Lorena
Oh my gosh, this book really tugged my heart, made me cry and had my emotions all over the place.
What a spectacularly written book about loss, love, hardships and everything else you can possibly think of that would be in these categories!
I was an emotional wreck reading this book, I was so, so drawn to this story that it was so hard for me to put down.
You have a couple here who have been in love since they were barely teenagers and make it to marriage. They have their ups and downs like any other marriage, but things start getting a little out of control with them when Ty gets hurt on his job and he starts withdrawing from Elin. They start arguing about anything and everything so Ty leaves. Elin is left an emotional wreck, but she vows to move on with her life without the love of her life.
Ty goes over to another town for a bit to try and let things cool down between him and Elin, but when he returns, he never expected his wife to reject him AND ask for a divorce. Tyler will fight for her on this because he is in this marriage for life and he will fight to get his wife back one way or another.
Elin, at times made me want to strangle her because she wasn't giving her husband a chance to try and explain himself or she just wasn't listening. She was being a stubborn jackass and that was just making my blood boil.
But she came around and her and Ty decided to try and make things work between them. But there's so much more to this book than just a troubled couple. The friendships they had, the people who surrounded them. Everyone loved each other fiercely and I loved that about this book. They all had each other's back and were always looking out for each other.
Their one friend Cord who was a foster child and never thought or believed he deserved to be loved, really sacrificed a lot for his "family". He might not have had a real family but Ty, Elin, Jiggs and Lindsay were his family and there was nothing that he wouldn't do for them.
This book brought devastation to me. These kinds of books always stay with me for a long time and I just can't stop thinking about the books days and weeks after reading them. These types of emotional books are the ones that stick with me the most for a long time.
Thank you Adriana for giving us such a phenomenal book, with so many feels and bringing out our emotions while reading.
This book has a deserving 5 stars!!
