Seven years. Six hits. A hundred secrets. Syndicate leaders blackmailed. Wives and children set up to take the fall. A spy among the most dangerous of men. Sometimes seductress. Sometimes assassin. I'm the girl at the party everyone looks at, but no one remembers. I was trained to be ruthless, stripped of emotion and empathy, and yet something inside me, something logic and reason will never touch, yearns to be more than the beautiful facade crafted by my master. I want some part of the fantasy to be real. A touch. A kiss. A glance just for me. But none of it’s ever for me because there is no me. I am olvidado. Forgotten. Until I meet the one man who refuses to forget me.
For four years, I was hidden from everyone and everything I knew. I became a toy; a slave to be played with on a whim. He locked me away, robbed me of light, and forced me to live in the darkness.
He used me, abused me, and left me shattered. My screams went unheard, my tears went unseen, and my pleas went unanswered. When the chance to escape presented itself, I fled. All I wanted was my freedom. All I wanted was to see the light once again. But when your name means Light, it makes the monsters want to keep you in the Dark.
My name is…well, to tell you the truth I’m not so sure anymore. To my master I’m known only as ‘beauty’, a word that inspires magnificence, however in my mind it only imparts feelings of horror and helplessness. Stolen at just fifteen-years-old, I’ve been held hostage for three years now, my body no longer my own, my mind twisted into something I no longer recognize. Then came Hart, dangerously handsome, and frighteningly male. Instead of fearing this curious man like I should, I do something I never thought I’d do again, I trust him. And when he whispers my name, “Beauty”, it’s with such soul shattering tenderness it brings new meaning to the word. I more than trust him…I’m infatuated with him. We are the same, you see, our monsters match and our thirst for revenge is as sweet as it is deadly.
My story isn’t pretty, but my vengeance is sublime.
I’ve seen things that would turn a cast iron stomach. I’ve stood by idly and watched endless acts of depravity. I’ve created hell on Earth in exchange for fortune. I’ve maimed, tortured, taken, and I’ve killed. My mind is dark, my inclinations perverse, and my soul is black. There’s no salvation for me—until Amaya enters my life; a raven-haired beauty with blue eyes that sparkle like sapphires. She’s the epitome of what my life isn’t. I’m not worthy of her, and she certainly deserves better than me, but that’s never stopped me before. When I want something, I take it, and right now, I want her—and I won’t let anything or anyone prevent me from making her mine.
Luna… I thought our love would be enough to get us through forever. From the moment we met, our passion, our love, was explosive and consuming. My Andres is my rock, my love, my everything. But sometimes love isn’t enough. Some things are more important. Now I’m doing the one thing I never thought possible. I’m running from the cartel, from my home and from my husband. I’m running for my life. Andres… Luna has been my light in the darkness from the moment I set eyes on her. She is my rock, my comfort, my only love. Her betrayal burns deep. She can’t be allowed to live. The cartel, my family, they won’t sanction it. I will hunt my wife and I will put her down. Though it will kill the last decent thing left in me…
My name is Magdalena. I’ve been chasing after a story more dangerous than I realized. And now, they’ve taken me. The Dowidoff family has been the focus of my attention, and now I’m theirs. They’ll keep me locked away until I’m trained, and then they plan to sell me. Highest bidder wins me; the nosey American girl, and Kristoff has been put in charge of my education. I can’t give up hope, even when Kristoff promises there is none. Not for me at least. He’s going to break me. He’s going to teach me. And at the end of it, I will be claimed.

ANNA EDWARDS
All I am a British author, from the depths of the rural countryside near London. In a previous life, I was an accountant from the age of twenty-one. I still do that on occasions, but most of my life is now spent intermingling writing while looking after my husband, two children and two cats (probably in the inverse order to the one listed!). When I have some spare time, I can also be found writing poetry, baking cakes (and eating them), or behind a camera snapping like a mad paparazzi.
I'm an avid reader who turned to writing to combat my depression and anxiety. I have a love of travelling and like to bring this to my stories to give them the air of reality. I like my heroes hot and hunky with a dirty mouth, my heroines demure but with spunk, and my books full of dramatic suspense.
NIKITA SLATER
Nikita lives on the beautiful Canadian prairies with her twelve-year-old son and two crazy awesome dogs. She has an unholy affinity for books (especially erotic romance), wine, pets and anything chocolate. Despite some of the darker themes in her books (which are pure fun and fantasy), Nikita is a staunch feminist and advocate of equal rights for all races, genders and non-gender specific persons. When she isn’t writing, dreaming about writing or talking about writing, she helps others discover a love of reading and writing through literacy and social work.

When I opened my eyes, the door to the bathroom opened and Cade stepped in, his face and hair soaked with rain.
I watched him pull his shirt over his head, remove his boots, and the rest of his clothes. When he was completely naked, he stepped into the shower, and without a word, took me in his arms and pressed his mouth to mine. My body immediately responded and I melted against him, seeking comfort and pleasure in his hard body as it commanded me backwards until my back was against the wet, tiled wall. His big hands moved up to my face while his mouth moved fiercely over mine until his kiss left me breathless.
But his kiss petered out as his emotion overtook him. I looked up into his tormented face. Pain and grief were like shadows in his eyes. His face was stiff and I could feel his heartbreak radiating from him with every beat of his heart. He dropped his forehead to mine.
âI donât know how to do this,â he said, his voice deep and strong, but at the same time, pained and heartbroken.
âItâs going to be okay,â I whispered.
He drew in a deep breath, his hooded eyes fixed to mine. âI donât know what I would do if I lost you . . .â His voice broke and his thumbs found the slick skin of my lower lip, his eyes intensely focused on it. I had only seen Cade cry once. When he was eighteen and heâd ridden all the way to Seattle to beg me to come back to him after we had broken up. Otherwise, he was fiercely stoic. But now, standing in the steam, he was barely in control.
âIâm not going anywhere,â I replied.
His anguish was deep. I watched him squeeze his eyes shut and felt the slow exhale of breath as he opened them again. Droplets of water fell in rivulets down his beautiful face and dripped onto his parted lips.
His brows drew together.
âIt hurts,â he whispered.
I nodded. âI know.â
He tried to kiss me but his lips trembled against mine and he pulled away. He slapped his palms against the tiled wall and took a moment. Water poured over his head and down his broad, muscular back. His face crumpled and he slowly sank to his knees, burying his face in my stomach.

Brittany's rating: 5 of 5 stars I enjoyed the ending to Oskar and Hailey's story. Remember in my last review I was so certain I knew who the bad guy was? I was completely wrong and I didn't see who it was coming. Not at all. I love how soft Oskar is for Hailey. I have always liked him, but I have fallen head over heels for this fictional character. He is who I would want for myself. Big dick, good sex, soft and warm and caring. He's just perfect. I do feel that things were left unresolved between Hailey and her family. I see where the authors tried to bring it all together at the end, but I just feel that there could have been lots more said regarding that matter. I'm excited for whoever is next in the Blake Security series! View all my reviews

It was a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana, and Nana was a precocious thirteen. She’s been in love with kick-butt heroines ever since. With her overactive imagination constantly channeling her inner Buffy, it was only a matter a time before she started creating her own characters. From USA Today bestselling author Adriana Locke comes a witty romance about first love and second chances. This is a standalone, small-town, blue-collar love story. After being burned by her dream job in New York City, sports journalist Neely Kimber suddenly finds herself jobless and paying a long-overdue visit to her hometown in Tennessee. Her plan? Relax, reset, and head back up the corporate ladder. There’s just one unexpected step. Neely’s back in Dogwood Lane for barely a day when she sees the man she ran from nine years ago: the bad boy next door who was her first kiss, her first love, and her first heartbreak. Devoted single dad Dane Madden knows he hurt Neely in the worst way. He’s got a lot to make up for. And as passionate as their reconnection is, it’s a lot to hope for. Having her back in his arms feels so right. But falling in love all over again with a woman who wants to live a world away is bound to go so wrong. What’s it going to take for Neely to give him—and Dogwood Lane—just one more chance? Pro Tip: If you own the e-book, you can add the Audible narration for just $1.99. Audio Features: Narrated by the talented Aiden Snow and Summer Morton, this audio will rock your socks! 4 Star Review by Ashley Adriana Locke is an author I read blind so I wasn't sure what I was getting and I wasn't prepared for the slow ache that this gave me. Sigh. It took me a hot minute to figure out what was happening in Tumble. Holy smokes- talk about small-town drama and this one is juicy! I liked Neely. She was strong-willed and confident but also burnt out. Dedicated to her job, she lives a lonely life in the big city. She had poured all of her time and passion into making her dream a reality and got stuck with a nightmare. Not one to take things laying down, she decided to catch her breath with a visit at her hometown, a place she hadn't been in a decade. And she didn't leave on the best of terms. She left with a shattered heart. Thanks to Dane. Oh Dane. Immediately I didn't like him because he had hurt Neely. And when I learned exactly what he had done, my rage flag was flying. Did I get his rationale after he was given a chance to explain himself, kind of. He was just a kid at the time and in his mind and heart he was doing the right thing. Even though it wasn't. However, the more I saw him with sweet and adventurous Mia, the more he wore me down. And Neely too. Though she did require a bit more a nudge in the direction of forgiveness. I kept waiting for the big dramatic blow-up to happen. I knew it was coming, especially since Neely kept telling everyone she was headed back to New York. But I was prepared for her departure to hurt as much as it did. In her short time back at Dogwood Lane, she mad a big impact. But she had her dreams to chase and given the opportunity to do so, she couldn't say 'no'. So where did that leave Dane and Mia? Gah! My heart almost couldn't take it. I'm just going to take a moment and swoon over 'the big gesture' because this one was epic- on both accounts (and that's all I'm going to say about it). No lie, Tumble was everything I didn't know I wanted in this small-town, second-chance romance. There was heartache and heat and humor and hope. It was powerful but in a subtle way. Not in your face, but one of those that hits you when it's over and you put it all together. Dane and Neely are the proof that chasing your dreams opens doors you didn't even know were possible. Especially when there is a whole lot of love in the mix. And I am very much looking forward to returning to Dogwood Lane to get more of this fun cast of characters! The sound of the hammer crushing my thumb—swung with more force than was necessary, to boot—ricochets across the front lawn. The tool falls from my hand, striking against the sawhorse, and flips into the soft grass with a gentle thud. “Son of a...!” My hand shakes, the top of my thumb threatening to explode. I tilt my head to the sky and try to find some peace in the clouds. I come up empty. “Matt!” I call to my younger brother. “I’m taking ten.” He nods from halfway up the ladder leaned against the side of the house. Wrapping my good hand around my thumb, I head toward my truck. Sounds of construction ring out behind me. It’s usually music to my ears, the lifeblood of the Madden name. But each cut of a sawblade, buzz of a power drill, and swing of a hammer feels like a distraction this morning. I have a throbbing thumb to show for it. Beads of sweat cluster along my forehead. I remove my hat with my good hand and run the back of my forearm along my brow. “Damn it.” Everything feels sticky. Mildly irritating. And the progress on the project that usually energizes me has failed me epically this morning. I just don’t want to be here. Not that I have a better place to be. Quite frankly, I have a lot of places I shouldn’t be, and with Neely, or thinking about Neely, is one of them. I would’ve recognized her anywhere. Same gray eyes that glimmer like she’s about to tell you a secret. Full lips that spread into a smile so infectious you can’t help but feel your own mouth following suit. The hint of floral perfume, the golden hair that may as well be silk, and the aura about her that’s just as strong as the day she left Dogwood Lane and me—it’s all the same. It’s like time forgot to age her. She somehow has become more beautiful, sexier, stronger. The world hates me. I’ve postulated this for a long time, but it’s obvious today. The tailgate of my truck lowers. Scooping a handful of ice from the cooler in the bed into a bandanna, I wrap it around my injured digit. The relief lasts only a few moments. “What are you doing down here?” Penn rests his forearms over the side of the truck, the tattoos carved in his skin like mini masterpieces on full display. He eyes my makeshift bandage. “What happened to you?” “Hammer,” I groan, adjusting the ice. “That’s interesting.” “How you figure?” “Never knew you to hit yourself with a hammer before. I find that interesting.” “If that’s interesting, you need a hobby. Or you could work like I’m paying you to do . . .” “I have a hobby, thank you, and you should’ve seen her last night,” he says, smacking his lips together. “Lord Almighty, she’s a—” “Penn.” “Yeah?” The tip of my finger sticks out of the bandanna. It’s bright red and hot to the touch despite the ice packed around it. “All your escapades really sound the same at this point.” “Is that jealousy I hear?” He cups his hand to his ear. “I thought so. Not my fault you’re in a dry spell.” Leaning against the truck, I look at him. “Jealousy isn’t how I’d describe it. But if that makes ya feel good, go for it.” “My hobby makes me feel good.” He moves his lips around, like he’s fighting the next words trying to pop out. He does this when he knows he shouldn’t say something but can’t quite convince himself not to. “From the looks of you, I’d say you’re more than jealous. I’d say you’re . . . tempted.” My tongue presses on the roof of my mouth. “Tempted to what?” He leans against the truck, too, the gold St. Christopher’s medal he’s worn since elementary school clamoring against the side. The corners of his lips nearly touch the corners of his eyes. He knows. “Word travels fast, huh?” I say, prodding around to see if my guess is right. He slow blinks. Twice. “What?” I ask. “That’s all you have to say about Neely being back in town? ‘Word travels fast.’ What’s wrong with you?” We don’t have time for that conversation. I sigh. “What do you want me to say?” “I’d love to have been a fly on the wall for that little run-in.” Penn snickers. “Did you stutter around like I imagine? Or did you not manage to say an entire sentence?” Working my jaw back and forth, I point a finger his way. “You better stop while you’re ahead.” He reads me correctly, and his animation drops a notch. “Really, though. How’d it go? But before you answer that, let me toss out there that I heard sparks were flying all over the diner so hot Claire had to call the fire department.” I shake my head. “Shut up.” “Just telling you what I heard.” “The firemen were there to order food, you idiot.” He thinks he’s onto something. There’s a glee in his face that means only one thing: it’s going to be a long day around here. “So, what happened?” he asks, resting his arms over the truck bed. “You know, sometimes I think you should’ve been a girl with all the gossiping you do.” “This isn’t gossip,” he contends. “This is Neely-freaking-Kimber, man. Every memory I have of my entire adolescence has her in it. She bailed me out of jail when I was too scared to call my dad and you and Matt were passed out on moonshine. Remember that?” My chuckle is so hard, it causes my thumb to throb. “I forgot about that. She was pissed.” “Neely came through, though. God, I miss her.” Those last words echo through my mind. I have shoved her out of my head for the last few years. Took over Dad’s business, took care of my business. Trudged forward without her because that was the only choice I had. I hardly even think about her anymore unless someone brings her up in conversation. So why do I itch to crawl into the truck and hunt her down? About THE LAST LETTER: Beckett,
If you’re reading this, well, you know the “last-letter” drill. You made it. I didn’t. Get off the guilt train, because I know if there were any chance you could have saved me, you would have.
I need one thing from you: Get out of the army and get to Telluride.
My little sister Ella’s raising the twins alone. She’s too independent and won’t accept help easily, but she has lost our grandmother, our parents, and now me. It’s too much for anyone to endure. It’s not fair.
And here’s the kicker: there’s something else you don’t know that’s tearing her family apart. She’s going to need help.
So if I’m gone, that means I can’t be there for Ella. I can’t help them through this. But you can. So I’m begging you, as my best friend, go take care of my sister, my family.
Please don’t make her go through it alone.
Ryan

4 Star Review by AshleyI don't have the words to describe what Rebecca Yarros did to me. I just finished The Last Letter and I am not ok. My eyes puffy, my pillow is wet and my chest hurts. I'm rubbing my sternum with one hand and trying to type with the other. I liked the idea behind this book. I even liked both characters. Flawed and lonely and struggling with their own pain and loss and life. But at times I felt like the author pushed too much with the suffering. Especially were Ella was concerned. But the backbone of steel on that woman was one to admire. She had more than her fair share of the ugly side of life thrown her way and with all the courage and grace she could muster she dealt with it. Not just for her but for her kids too. A big part of that was thanks to Beckett. Who had never had a real home. And the only family he knew were his brothers at arms. But with Ella and her kids, he found something he never thought he would. Family. Love. Home. However, it was only a matter of time before his secret blew up in his face. He knew it would cost him everything but he did it because it was what Ella needed. His selflessness and bravery and sacrifice went beyond guilt and duty. It was who he was down to his core. A good guy who just needed someone to see that side of him. Everything was moving forward in a positive way. The twins were thriving. The business was doing well. Then the bottom dropped out from under them again. And this is where it gets harder for me because that last tragedy this family had to endure slayed me. I found it senseless and unnecessary after they had already suffered so much. As you can see, The Last Letter was hard for me to read. I had to put it down and walk away a few times. I have to commend Rebecca Yarros for making this book hard to swallow. For making it painful and showing the ugly side of illness and loss. But it wasn't all sadness and grief. There were some moments of carefree joy and sheer bliss. And you could feel the love jumping off the pages. Ella and Beckett's journey was hard and it hurt more than it was happy but it was also real and theirs.
"This story gripped me from start to finish. The Last Letter is poignant, heartfelt and utterly consuming. I loved it!" - Mia Sheridan, NYT Bestselling Author

Excerpt:
“Ella.” It was a plea to speak, to not speak. Hell, I didn’t know anymore. “You don’t see me like that. I totally get it.” She reached for the TV remote. “How exactly do I see you? Please, enlighten me.” I leaned forward, stealing the remote. She’d opened this box and had better well dish it. She huffed in annoyance. “You see me as a mom. As Colt and Maisie’s mom. And of course you do, because that’s what I am. A mom with two kids.” “Well, yeah,” I said. Her motherhood—that selfless devotion she had to her kids—was one of her most attractive attributes. She rolled her eyes with a little sigh, and the metaphorical light bulb went off in my head. “You don’t think I want you.” She shot me a look that confirmed my guess and blushed the same crimson of her couch. “You know, you’re right. It’s late.” She faked a yawn. “Suuuuuuper late.” “I want you.” Damn, it felt so good to say the words. “Yeah, okay.” She gave me a goofy look and a thumbs-up. “Please don’t make me feel any more idiotic than I do right now.” Yeah, enough of this bullshit. I pounced in one smooth motion, taking her back to the couch, sliding over her as I gathered her wrists in one hand above her head and settled between her open thighs. Home. “Holy shit, you move fast.” There was no fear or rejection in her eyes, just surprise. “Not in every arena,” I promised. Her lips parted. “Ella. I want you.” “Beckett…you don’t have to.” Yeah, that soft little sigh she did was going to be my undoing. I let go of her wrists, letting my fingers trail down her arm until I had one hand weaving my fingers into the hair at the base of her scalp and the other at the curve in her waist. “Feel this?” Then I slid forward, letting my dick stroke along the seam in her pajama pants hard enough for her to gasp at the contact. I couldn’t remember ever wanting to shred a piece of fabric so much in my life. “I’ve never wanted a woman as much as I want you.” I moved again, and her eyes slid shut as she let loose the sweetest moan. My dick throbbed, knowing everything I’d fantasized about for the better part of the last eight months was one decision away. “Beckett.” Her hands found my biceps, her nails digging in. “Don’t ever think that I don’t want you, because if things were different, I would have already been inside you. I would know exactly how you feel, and what you sound like, look like, when you come. I’ve thought about it at least a hundred different ways, and believe me, I’ve got a great imagination.” She rocked her hips against me, and I locked my jaw to keep from giving her exactly what her body was asking for. “Ella, you have to stop.” “Why?” she asked, her lips dangerously close to mine. “What do you mean if things were different?” Her eyes flew wide. “Is this because I have kids?” “What? No. Of course not. It’s because you’re Ryan’s little sister.” Before I could do any more damage, I got the hell off her and sat back on my side of the couch. “Because…I’m Ryan’s little sister,” she repeated, scooting so she sat upright, facing me. “And you think he’d, what? Haunt you?” Three things: The letter. The cancer. The lie. I repeated those in my head until I was certain I could look at her and not drag her back under me. “Beckett?” “When I was growing up, if I wanted something, I took it. Immediately. I had sex at fourteen with a girl in my foster home of the moment. I opened Christmas presents early if I was lucky enough to get one, and it was usually from my social worker or some charity.” “I don’t understand.” She wrapped her arms around her knees again. “I took it immediately because I knew if I didn’t, chances were I wouldn’t get it. It was a now-or-never kind of thing—there weren’t second chances.” “Okay.” “I can’t touch you, can’t talk about it, because I’m afraid I’ll act on it.” “And why does that matter if I want you to?” “Because I won’t get a second chance. And I’m crap with people, with relationships. I’ve never had one that lasted more than a month. Never loved a woman I’ve slept with. And chances are I’d do something to screw this up, because it’s not just my dick that wants you, Ella.” That O popped right back onto her face, and I closed my eyes to keep from lunging across the distance and kissing her. Knowing she’d let me—that she wanted it—sent my need from a bullet to a nuclear missile. “And when I’d screw it up, because it would happen, trust me, it would hurt Colt and Maisie, too. You’d be on your own again, because there’s no chance you’d let me hang around and help you out like Ryan asked.” “And there it is.” “There it is. You’re Ryan’s little sister.” “There were only five years between us. Not so little, you know.” She reached for the remote. “I’m well aware.” “So if Ryan were still alive…” She shot one last look at me. I let everything slip for a millisecond, letting her see it all in my eyes, how badly I wanted her, and not just for her body. “Everything would be different.” “Everything?” “Everything but the way I feel about you, which he probably would have killed me for. Where does that leave us?” “You mean besides me being a dried-up spinster and you being honor-bound to a ghost?” “Something like that.” She rolled her head along the back of the couch, muttering something that sounded like a curse word under her breath. Then she sat up straight and powered on the TV with a click of her thumb. “That leaves us choosing a movie on demand. Because I’m not letting you walk out that door right now.” “You’re not?” “Nope. You walk out now, you might get all weird about this and not come back. Honor is a fabulous thing, but sometimes pride can be a lot stronger, especially when you convince yourself it’s for the good of the other person.” Damn, the woman knew me. “So movie it is,” I agreed. “Just…stay on your side of the couch.” “I wasn’t the one who crossed the center line,” she teased with a smile that got me hard all over again. Movie chosen, we sat and watched, both of us stealing sideways glances. There was that saying…the horse out of the barn. Yeah, the horse was out of the barn, and it wasn’t going back in. Not no way. Not no how. That horse was running amok and screwing with my carefully constructed control. But I didn’t complain when she moved over. Or when she pressed against my side. Nope. I lifted my arm and savored the feel of her curves, her trust. Still didn’t complain when she lay down in my arms. Hell no, I held on and memorized every second.
