I was a girl with no purpose, with no reason to keep going—I was barely living.
Life had been nothing but a cruel joke to me. I had found love, only to lose it. I had found hope, only to watch it get snatched from my arms.
I had nothing left.
But from the darkness came a man.
He saw something in me that I couldn't.
He saw life, he saw the girl that I had lost somewhere along the way; he saw a second chance.
With his help, I picked up the glass around my feet and put my life back together.
He gave me more than anyone ever could.
He gave me his heart.
And I wanted to give him mine, I just didn't know how.
I needed to let go of the past to truly let him in.
So I did what I never could before, I gave myself a voice. I wrote a letter.
And that letter changed everything.
Amazon Review - “ Fantastic read” Amazon Review - “Emotional and Raw!!” Amazon Review - “Deeply emotional and beautiful”
I'm not dead, but I should be. I spent five years of my life running. Some people run away and never really know why. They just go, never looking back, never thinking about the past. They write it off as if it never happened. But I know why I ran, I saw it every time I looked in the mirror or heard a baby cry. It was always there, replaying inside my head when my eyes closed, when there was nothing but silence surrounding me. There was no escaping those memories. No way to erase them from my mind or banish them from my heart. My only solace was having the power to numb it. That was all I could do. Until I couldn't anymore. I've wanted to tell my story for a really long time now, with the hope that maybe it could give other girls, just like me, the chance to see that life doesn't have to be a certain way. It doesn't matter how deep the hole is, you can always climb out. It's never too late, not unless it's your very last breath, and even then I'd still say keep on fighting. Fight for more air, fight for what's yours; fight for the right to keep going. What you go through doesn't define you, it doesn't have to follow you around like a giant black cloud. All of it—it only makes you stronger. I'm stronger now than I've ever been, but for some reason, I still can't find the strength I need to tell my story so people can hear it. I can't utter it out loud—shit, I can't even whisper what's inside my head. But writing it, that's different. When your voice isn't strong enough to float through the air so others can hear you, what do you do? Do you stop talking? Do you shy away from using your lips and trade it for silence? No. You transfer your thoughts and words into long strokes of ink, so your voice will last forever. . . You will last forever. My story isn't for the weak, it's not going to fill you with so much joy your heart will explode. What I can tell you is that I got my happily ever after, I just needed a hero to show me I had to work for it.
Growing up in a small town, Leah Holt's imagination was able to run wild. She loves to write romance that is full of broken heroes you can't help but fall in love with. Having three children of her own, life is filled with far too many cartoons and not enough bad boys. Writing has become an outlet for her to let out all of the dirty, forbidden thoughts inside her head. When she's not typing to the point her fingers hurt, you can find her downing coffee and trying to keep track of reality. Which is never easy when she'd rather have her nose in a book or creating stories that will leave you breathless and wanting more.
Book 3 of the Bloodstone Series Historical Suspense/Thriller Date Published: February 28, 2020 Publisher: Books to Go Now
The killer whispered-“A pretty damsel...worth a pretty risk.”
A veteran, Detective Rudyard Bloodstone has fought a brutal battle and witnessed war horrors that haunt his nightmares. Now one of those horrors has followed him home from Africa. A vicious predator, the Cape cobra, can kill a man in thirty minutes. A suspect using the snake as a weapon in robberies is terrorizing London. When the crimes escalate into murder, a victim’s daughter, Honoria Underhill, becomes the focus of the killer. After several attempts on her life, Scotland Yard threatens to take over the high profile case. With few leads to follow, Bloodstone and his partner must now fight department politics and catch the killer before Underhill becomes another murder victim.
Excerpt
Puzzled, Ruddy asked, “You say the body is still in the chapel? Couldn’t the nurse bring an exam table to put him on and start treatment?”
“She did. Young and I attempted to help but he suffered violent convulsions. Because the hospital is for children, they don’t have restraints. The head nurse instructed us to leave him back on the floor. She was afraid he’d fall off the table.”
“Makes sense.” The timeframe of Underhill’s death didn’t make sense. At minimum it usually took an hour and more often, hours for the venom to kill. A horrible thought occurred to Ruddy. What if it was a different suspect with a different lethal snake? “But he died while you were still here?”
“Yes. He convulsed brutally hard a few more times and an excessive amount of drool came out his mouth. Then he lost consciousness. A nurse put a blanket over him and a pillow under his head. He died as she was making him comfortable.”
“Strange. This is abnormally fast even for cobra venom.” Flanders stepped up on Ruddy’s right. “What is it, constable?”
“Shall I leave you to start my search?” Flanders asked.
“Yes. Collect anything, and I mean anything, you find that looks out of the ordinary,” Archie told him. “This case is so unusual we can’t be sure what is important and what isn’t.”
The nurse led them to the curtained-off bed. Honoria Underhill lay on her side softly sobbing. Her legs were curled up so she fit on the short bed meant for a child. The nurses had covered her with a blanket. When she saw Ruddy and Archie, she sat up and swung her legs down to the side of the bed.
“Yes. We know this is traumatic for you but we need to ask you to repeat what happened with as much detail as you can recall,” Ruddy told her.
“I understand.” Her shoulders trembled. She buried her fists in her skirt and kept her head down as she fought to control her emotions.
Ruddy brought the conversation back to the crime. “Did the suspect say anything when he attacked?”
“’A pretty little damsel, worth a pretty risk,’ he said as he rushed toward us. Then he leapt at me with the snake in hand inches from my face. Father pushed me out of the man’s reach and stepped between us. My father tried to knock the man’s hand away and swatted at the animal.”
She dabbed at her nose again and then offered the handkerchief back to Archie who waved off the return. “It happened so fast,” Honoria continued. “In the time it took me to blink, the snake’s throat blew outward, like a fan opening.” She demonstrated the action with her hands. “A second later it lunged and struck.”

Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks / Kobo / Google Play -- EXCERPT: My head is pounding when I regain consciousness. I can’t bring myself to open my eyes. I’m lying on a hard surface, which seems weird to me. At first I think I’m lying on the ground outside where I passed out, but there are no city noises. Instead, I hear classical music being piped in from a speaker above me. And I smell… roses. One of those highly fragrant varieties. I must be at Andrew’s place. But why the fuck did he leave me on the ground? It’s at this point that I realize I’m naked. Also, Andrew doesn’t listen to classical music. Instinctively, I want to bolt upright and cover myself, but I don’t have that kind of reaction time. And it’s a real struggle to open my eyes. When I do, I’m momentarily grateful to be in a dimly lit room. “A-Andrew?” I croak out. I want to scream at him for dumping me on the ground in his apartment, but I can barely choke his name out. I wait for my eyes to adjust. Everything around me is dark gray, and there’s no furniture in this room. Cell, my mind hisses at me. I am in a cell. I push myself off the ground into a sitting position and wait for my vision to go back to normal so I can get a sense of where I am. Did Andrew put me in here? He’s a bigger bastard than I thought. This is when I finally realize I’m not alone. There’s a large, dark figure sitting on the ground against the far wall. “Andrew, you piece of shit. What are you doing?” I probably shouldn’t speak to the person who rescued me from homelessness this way, but I don’t care. He needs to grow the fuck up. I expect him to yell at me or threaten to kick me out, but what I hear instead chills me. “Who’s Andrew?” This is definitely not Andrew’s voice. No accent. Plus it’s deeper and more frightening. Suddenly the adrenaline hits me, and I have a sudden burst of speed. I back as far from him as I can until I meet the opposite wall. I shield my breasts from his gaze and shift to a sitting position where he can’t see other private parts—even though I know he’s already seen everything. And possibly done more. I was unconscious after all. As my vision clears further, it seems that the light in the room gets a little brighter. He’s wearing a white T-shirt and jeans, no shoes. His dark hair looks a bit disheveled. He’s very attractive. Heart-stoppingly beautiful, actually. It’s the kind of unearthly beauty that makes me feel relieved for a moment because I know I’m still passed out. This is a weird dream. I just know it is. It’s not a dream, whispers the same evil internal voice that decided to tell me I was in a cell. It takes several minutes before my mind is willing to accept what has happened. I don’t know if someone put something in my drink or if I was just that drunk. I don’t know how long this man stalked me before he took me, but I know I’m looking at the man who kidnapped me. And now the tears come. It takes every ounce of willpower not to break down into hysterical sobs. This reaction is making a lie out of everything I thought I knew about myself. The strength and control I thought I had in my life. Even up to very recently, I thought I was handling things. But this is the last straw. It’s the last tiny push I needed to find myself in a free fall. Another dark thought pushes its way into my mind. No one is going to be looking for me. Does the man who took me know that? Andrew sure as shit won’t look or file a police report. My landlady might not realize why I didn’t pack my things up first, but as nice as Carolyn is, she’ll just be glad she doesn’t have to have me forcibly removed. She isn’t going to report my disappearance to the police. What disappearance? I’ve been evicted. I’m not supposed to be there. There is no reality now but me and my captor. I’m trying desperately not to think about the reasons this man took me. To rape me? To kill me? To torture me? He sure as shit isn’t going to let me go when he’s done with whatever’s on his nefarious agenda. I know you can’t appeal to a sociopath, and nobody normal does something like this. Still, I can’t help begging. “P-please don’t hurt me.” “I won’t,” he says. Huh? “You can let me go,” I say. “I won’t say anything.” “I can’t let you go. I didn’t put you in here.” “What?” For a moment, my confusion overtakes my fear. What does he mean he didn’t put me in here? Of course he did. Who the fuck can he blame? The invisible demon perched on his shoulder? He shakes his head slowly. “I’m in the same boat as you, sweetheart.” I glance back and forth between us. He has clothes on, and they don’t look like he’s worn them for days. Meanwhile, I’m naked. We are not in the same boat. “I don’t believe you,” I say. “You’re playing with me somehow.”

Doc stepped forward, but Isa interrupted his act. “Do you like breathing?”
Cueball smirked. “Last I checked.” “Then I suggested you back off before the Belfast president finds out you’re drooling over his daughter.” Doc bit back a laugh at the expression on Cueball’s face. The other man stepped away, hands up in surrender. “No harm intended.” He glanced to Doc. “They grow them feisty in Ireland.” He jerked his chin up. “Wouldn’t have it any other way, brother.” Cueball chuckled and maintained his path toward the bedrooms. When Doc turned back around, he met Isa’s glowering face. The more time he spent with her only reiterated his longing to put her over his knee. She was sassy when needed and that stirred up the most primitive sensations in his mind. Suddenly, being uprooted from his familiar role as the club doctor wasn’t so bad. “Are all MC members horndogs?” Doc took a step closer and tugged on the bottom of her shirt. It barely covered her navel, leaving plenty of skin available to tempt any man. “Have you seen yourself, Isa? You’re the prettiest girl in the clubhouse.” His eyes fixed to her lips where she was rubbing them together. “And that fire of yours only makes it hotter.” He reached over and ran his knuckles down the side of her neck, goosebumps spreading at his act. “Because we all like to play with fire.” “What if I burn you,” she whispered, the sound airy and uncertain. He chuckled and stepped away. “You’re worth the scars, princess.”

4 Heart Review by Lorena
Whenever I read in a blurb that it's forbidden or taboo, I ALWAYS give it a go because that's my jam right there. Forsaken was very messy and complicated, best friend's little sister with the forbidden fruit being almost 10 years older and the oldest brother's best friend. But we have to realize that all families have issues and problems and no one is perfect. Without these complications the book would be boring and lack so much emotion that we certainly need in order to understand the dynamic of the love story. Yes Forsaken had many issues, lots of messed up situations that made me mad because the last thing I wanted was for it to turn out the way it did. But again, messy situations, calls for messy love stories. Tragedies that bring people closer and make you realize what it is that you really want in life and who you want. Yeah it took forever for the main male character to pull his head out of his butt and realize who he was meant to be with. Overall I really did like this book with all the messy complications it came with, I plan to go back to book 1 because I really do want to read the whole series when its complete because I really like the whole family dynamic and how close-knit they are.

When I look up at Boyd, I find his eyes on mine, and they’re scorching, though laced with something that looks like humor as well.
What’s that called?
Humorlust? Like wanderlust but funny? I don’t know if that’s a thing, but it should be.
We don’t say anything else, each of us finishing up our sandwiches and waters before saying our goodbyes and heading over to where Hank is parked along the side of the road.
He opens my door for me, and I hop in, pausing with my seatbelt when I realize he isn’t moving to close the door.
Before I even know what’s happening, he’s stepped forward and slipped a hand around the back of my neck, pulling me forward so he can plant a kiss on my lips.
It’s chaste. Soft. So delicious I wonder if I might be dehydrated from all that time in the sun because damn if I don’t feel a little dizzy when he pulls back and looks at me.
I wonder what he sees as I sit here, dirt and sweat covering so much of me, my body emitting that smell that comes along with too much time in the hot sun.
Whatever it is, it must work for him, because he places his lips back against mine for another kiss. And then another and another, first sucking on my top lip and then the bottom.
I can feel his kisses in my toes, along every single inch of skin he’s touching with his work-roughened hands, in the warm space between my legs.
When he pulls back and looks at me again, I feel a thrilling little shiver race along my spine as I see how heated his eyes are.
“Let’s get you home,” he says, finally moving back and closing my door, rounding the front to the driver’s side.
The ride back to the guesthouse is a loud mess of silence. All I can hear is the sound of his breaths and the beating of my heart in my ears.
When was the last time I was kissed like that?
Like it was just as much simple as it was spectacular?
Like it was the only thing that mattered?

-- EXCERPT: Bryant thought he might have died. On some level, he knew he lay in bed next to the voluptuous woman he’d been lusting after for weeks. That was the only way to account for the otherworldly satiety that had him feeling as though he’d left his body behind altogether and reached some other level of consciousness. His mind was not functioning. Bryant couldn’t form thoughts, couldn’t speak words. This tiny woman, whom he’d thought so shy when he’d first met her, had rocked his world. It was as if her touch had electrocuted him onto a new plane of existence, because he was certain that he was no longer the same Bryant Wilder he had always been an hour ago. Was that even possible? The only thing he was sure of was that as soon as his body rematerialized and his thoughts could coalesce into coherence, he was going to have a new obsession. This woman. She was going to be the undoing of him. The first conscious thought he had that didn’t have to do with the freewheeling pleasure centers in his brain was that he had to tell Van. Telling Van what was harder to grasp. That he’d just had the most amazing sex of his life? Sure, he’d guess that might be something they’d discuss, but it wasn’t what he wanted to talk to her about. He couldn’t articulate why. He and Van talked about everything. Then Minnie stirred in his arms, and Bryant fell back into his body. His limbs were heavy, his muscles relaxed, and he thought maybe he had been asleep for a little while. He didn’t remember getting rid of the condom, but he must have at some point. All there was in his memory was his skin on Minnie’s in a chilly room. He pulled her closer, not sure if they’d knocked all the covers to the floor or if the bed was still made. Minnie rolled in his arms so her breath tickled his ear, then she skimmed her finger tips up his arm and over his collarbone. She scratched in the three day’s worth of stubble on his chin, then trailed up to tap on the hinge of his glasses. “You still have your glasses on,” she said, a giggle in the back of her throat. “Of course,” Bryant said. His voice came out in a decidedly unsexy croak. “I needed to be able to see every expression you made, every sensuous writhe, every shudder of delight, and I’m blind without my glasses.”
