Title: When it Comes to You
Author: Melissa Toppen
Genre: Second Chance Romance (standalone)
Release Date: August 27, 2021
I never wanted to go back. If not for my best friend’s wedding, I likely never would have.
The plan was simple. Get in. Get out. Easy as that.
Only I should have known nothing is ever that simple.
Especially when Westin Carver is involved.
He broke my heart once. Or rather, he completely annihilated it.
And I have no doubt that if given the chance, he’d do it all over again.
But even knowing that, it doesn’t change the way I crave him.
The way my body reacts to him.
The way one touch completely obliterates the wall I built between us.
But when it comes to Westin not everything is as it seems.
They say love is blind. In my case, love is blinding.
Because I should have seen what was coming next…
And I didn’t.

Seventeen Butterflies
-- EXCERPT: “Who. Are. You?” The words fly out of my mouth even before the front door falls shut behind me. There’s a stranger in my house—built like a demi-god, demonic dark hair, and with eyes like an angel. He comes out of the bathroom as if he’d just taken a break after parking himself in my home for a cozy film marathon. Hello? The intruder with the white t-shirt wipes his still damp hands on the back of his washed-out jeans, not even half as confused as I am, obviously. “My name’s Thane,” he says. Then he smiles, and the sun is rising a second time today at half past six in the evening. What the hell? He cocks his head. “And yours?” My backpack slides from my right shoulder, pulling one side of my unzipped dark blue hoodie with it, and hits the tiled hallway floor with a thud so loud the neighbors could hear. That’s from the five new books I just borrowed from the library. All hardcovers. “Huh?” Dimples and an amused look make the young man’s eyes scrunch a little tighter. “Your name?” Jeez, burglars don’t usually smirk and engage you in conversations, do they? Then again, we’ve never been robbed before, so what do I know? With a jerk of my shoulder, I push my hoodie back in place and then grab my brother’s old hockey stick from behind the chest in the foyer. We’ve been keeping it there since the day I watched my first murder mystery as a kid, and today I swing it for the first time. “I’m Sandra Michelle Cardington. Cardington as in the name written on the mailbox outside this house. My house.” Need I say, “I live here!” My fingers clenching around the wood, I move one step closer to the housebreaker. “You don’t.” “Whoa.” His chuckle runs wild into nice boyish laughter, and he lifts his hands in surrender. Not gonna help, cutie. I’ll knock your lights out. As I scowl like a wild dog, he keeps his body rigid, but his star-blue eyes move to the right as he shouts over his shoulder, “You didn’t say you’re living with Harley Quinn, Cam.” The next instant, he moves forward so swiftly I totally miss the moment. With just one hand, he brings my arms down then casts a friendly look straight into my eyes. “Let me show you how this works. This isn’t a baseball bat, you know. You use it a little closer to the ground.”

EXCERPT
She shoved at my chest. “You are such a jerk. No. I don’t make a habit of making out with one asshole only to move on to the next so quickly.”
I moved back into her space. “Layla said you went on a date. I shouldn’t have said that. I just—”
“You just what? You don’t want me, but you don’t want anyone else to have me? Is that it?” Her words were angry, but her hands tangled in my hair, tugging me closer.
“Did you go on a date with someone else?” I whispered before resting my forehead against hers.
“Someone else would mean you and I had actually been on a date before. You’ve never taken me out.”
I wrapped my arm around her back and tugged her closer so she could feel just how much I wanted her. “If you want me to take you out, answer the damn question.”
“I met with Piper last night. We had dinner.”
Thank Christ. I let out a long breath that I hadn’t even realized I’d been holding. “How’d it go?”
“Good.”
“You want to tell me about it over dinner?” I asked as I nipped at her bottom lip.
“I thought this couldn’t happen again?” she said, and her tongue dipped out to wet her bottom lip and I groaned.
“I did too.”
“So, what’s changed?”
“I missed you.”
“I missed you too,” she whispered.
“Listen, Maura. You’re an intern. This doesn’t look good. We need to keep this between us, at least until we know what this is.”
She nodded. “Does that mean I can kiss you when the door is closed?”
My mouth crashed into hers. I kissed her like my life depended on it. I kissed her like I would die if I didn’t. Because at the moment, I would.
And now that I’d had a taste of Maura Benson… I only wanted more.

Title: Glitter & Greed (Brooklyn Brothers, #4)
Author: Melanie Munton
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: August 24, 2021
Cover Designer: L.J. Anderson at Mayhem Cover Creations
Hosted by: Buoni Amici Press, LLC.
We are the Rossetti’s. The exiled “sixth family” of the New York mafia. We’re the good guys.
People don’t fear us…much. They respect us.
The five of us? We’re the Brooklyn Brothers.
And we protect what’s ours.
Don’t ask me what made this girl different, what made her stand out. I’m not proud of it, but it wasn’t exactly my first ever lap dance. The last thing I expect is for the same woman I’ve been obsessing over for two months to waltz right into my gym. Catalina “Cat” Vasquez is the most alluring, sensual woman I’ve ever met. She has secrets, and I want all of them. It’s the only way I can protect her. Because it seems I’m not the only one who’s been looking for her. Just my luck that I would fall for a woman who has connections with the Mexican cartel. Who would have thought her stalker would be the same man who’s about to wage an all-out war on my turf? I’m a fighter by nature.
I fight for what’s mine.
And I’m not about to lose to someone who wants to steal Cat away from me.
If he thinks his guns will save him from my fists, he came to the wrong city.
AMAZON|iBOOKS|NOOK| KOBOCat I was Catholic. But I was also superstitious. Which was why I was convinced that running into him during one of my deliveries, of all times and places, was an omen of something bad to come. Like a black cat running across your path. Or breaking a mirror. Or walking under a ladder while indoors. He looked even better than I remembered.
Dios mio.
I’d had myself convinced he wasn’t even real. That the weird, unspoken connection we seemed to have formed in the ten minutes we’d been inside that room alone together at Rumors was all in my head. That the potency of his powerful, masculine body sprawled out on that leather sofa wasn’t as intoxicating as my memories wanted to recall. It was merely a wicked spell cast by well-placed blacklights, seductive music, and the sexual intimacy of dancing mostly naked for him. But now I knew that the man who had been sneaking into my dreams most nights wasn’t a figment of my imagination. He was very, very real. Very much alive and virile. And he was called Luka Rossetti. My heart was pounding so hard it was ricocheting off my ribcage. My lungs constricted as words clawed at my throat, clambering to get out. But none came. It really didn’t help when I looked down. I shouldn’t have looked down. He was naked from the waist up, a pair of loose gym shorts resting low on his hips. The rest of his body was covered in a sheen of sweat and a blanket of tattoos. A mix of black and colored, they decorated most of his chiseled torso and his entire right arm. An arm that was roped with sharply cut muscles that bulged and flexed as he removed the white tape from around his knuckles. On top of that, his precisely defined abdominal muscles tightened with every minute move he made. Bisecting his pectorals was a silver crucifix hanging from a thick silver chain. In all my life, I’d never seen such a man. Which explained what the hell was going on with my body. It had certainly never behaved this way before, even around my ex-boyfriend, who was admittedly good-looking in his own right. My hands suddenly turned clammy, my breathing shallowed, and there was a distinct warmth spreading throughout my lower body. Estas atrapando moscas. You’re catching flies, as my mother liked to say. I clamped my mouth shut, feeling the heat of embarrassment rush to my cheeks. I was still vacillating over what on earth to say to the most beautiful man I’d ever seen when he beat me to it. “Me?” His deep baritone washed over me like I was being immersed in a tank of sexy man. Once he finished unwrapping his knuckles, he started moving in my direction with a kind of predatory prowl that should have unnerved me. The fact that his body dwarfed mine by well over a foot and Dios knows how many pounds, should have made him appear threatening. So, why did I want to move closer? “I’m sorry, have we met?” It was probably a good ten seconds before his words fully registered. He doesn’t remember me. Por supuesto. Of course, he didn’t. It had been one dance cut short over two months ago. He wouldn’t have stashed away ten minutes with a random stranger in his memory bank. A man like him probably had countless women willing to get naked for him at the drop of a hat on speed dial. Still…being so forgettable hurt like a bitch. Melanie grew up in a small town in the Midwest. After marrying her husband, she decided she wanted to try coastal life because why not? A few months later, they moved to North Carolina where she discovered her passion for writing, and they never looked back. They are now enjoying life with their beautiful daughter in Savannah, GA and loving every minute with their little Georgia peach. Melanie’s other passion is traveling and seeing the world. With anthropology degrees under their belts, she and her husband have made it their goal in life to see as many archaeological sites around the world as possible. She has a horrible food addiction to pasta and candy (not together…ew). And she gets sad when her wine rack is empty. At the end of the day, she is a true romantic at heart. She loves writing the cheesy and corny of romantic comedies, and the sassy and sexy of suspense. She aims to make her readers swoon, laugh out loud, maybe sweat a little, and above all, fall in love.

Title: The Inn At Summer IslandAuthor: Rachel MageeGenre: Contemporary RomanceAbout The Inn At Summer IslandMillie Leclair is a mess, complete with a dead-end career and a flat-lining love life. So when she inherits her great aunt’s oceanfront B&B in a resort town in South Carolina’s Lowcountry, she doesn’t hesitate to pack up her car and set off on a new adventure. It’ll be fun. Of course, life seldom goes according to plan. The B&B is barely habitable for one person, let alone ready to open for business. With dwindling funds, Millie has no choice but to roll up her sleeves and tackle the repairs by herself. Yeah, so much fun. Ex-pro golfer Braxton Channing thought being a full-time single parent kept him on his toes. That was before he spotted his new neighbor teetering on her rooftop—which is only the beginning of her long list of renovations for the old house—and he added keeping her safe to his to-do list. But Millie is determined to dive headfirst into repairs regardless of the risk, and suddenly, battling with his daughter over brushing her teeth seems easier than winning an argument with Millie. She’s exasperating. And oddly delightful. And most definitely shouldn’t be let anywhere near a tall ladder. For a guy who’s sworn off romantic relationships, why does he suddenly want to be the one who gets the privilege of watching Millie conquer not just the B&B but his heart as well?

Excerpt:There, on the uneven, rocky ground was a very tall, and very wobbly looking ladder leaning against the side of the house with her curly haired dog laying in the shade nearby. “Hey, Bear.” The dog hopped up when he saw Braxton, and trotted over with his tail wagging. “You let her climb up that?” It was possible the ladder would have been tall enough to reach all the way to the roof if it had been positioned in the courtyard, or even at the front of the house, but the ground at the back of the house was lower than any other point, making the wall of the house even longer. It left the ladder short, stopping about six inches below the roofline. Had Millie been standing on it to hang Christmas lights or paint the trim, this set up could have worked. It would’ve been unsafe and he wouldn’t have approved, but it could’ve worked. As it was, he had no idea how she’d managed to get herself from the top of the ladder to the top of the roof without falling. “How does she plan to get down?” he asked Bear, who whined in response. He cupped his hands around his mouth and called out to her. “Hello? Millie?” Could she even hear him over all the hammering? Braxton checked his watch again. Now that he’d seen her hazardous setup, he couldn’t leave without making sure she was safe. “I guess I have to go up,” he told Bear, although he had no desire to climb that haphazard contraption. He gave it a jiggle, making sure it was firmly planted on the ground, then climbed the bottom two rungs to check the stability. Was he satisfied with the results? Absolutely not. But since he had no choice, he hesitantly moved up the death-trap toward the edge of the roof. “Millie?” he called again. “You up here?” He made it almost to where his hands could touch the roof, about four rungs from the top, when her head appeared over the pitch. “Hey. What are you doing here?” She had the same peppy tone and optimistic grin she always had and their effect swept over him like a refreshing ocean breeze, calming some of his apprehension. “I came to ask you the same question.” Millie held up a hammer and wiped the sweat from her forehead on the back of her arm. “Fixing the roof.” “Do you know how to do that?” Braxton was impressed. He didn’t know how to fix a roof. He wasn’t sure he’d even be motivated to learn how to do it. But here she was, hammering away and looking content about it. “Not as well as I probably should. But the video didn’t seem overly complicated.” He strained to see past her, looking for someone who might be helping her. “Are you by yourself up there?” “Well, yeah. I mean, I tried to convince Bear to come up here with me, but he’s got this thing about heights. And ladders.” A joking glint flashed in her eyes. The sight of it caused his heart to do a little a little shimmy. “I don’t blame him.” Braxton glanced down at the dog sitting at the foot of the ladder, reminding him just how high they were. A fresh wave of fear rolled through him. “Although, in all seriousness, you shouldn’t be up here by yourself.” “Is roof repair like swimming? Do I need to wait twenty minutes after eating, too?” “I heard the twenty-minute rule was an old wives tale, but it never hurts to be on the safe side.” “Interesting tip. I’ll keep it in mind.” She waved her hammer at the roof behind her. “If that’s all, I gotta get back. These tiles aren’t going to hammer themselves.” About the Author:Rachel wrote her first novel when she was twelve and entered it into a contest for young author/illustrators. Historical Romance (steamy) Date Published: August 26, 2021 A penniless widow. A baron running from love. Will a marriage of convenience save them or tear them apart? Widow Sarah Pennington has no time for love. Sending a son to Harrow is not cheap, and her husband’s lies left them in poverty. When she loses her position at the bookshop, she knows marriage isn’t the answer. Only her own hard work will save the day. It seems Baron Eaden can’t love a woman without her dying. To keep his daughters, and his heart, safe, he roams the world, keeping his distance. But when his hunt for a rare book brings him back to London, he knows he must do the one thing he’s avoided for years—find them a mother. He needs a woman who’s up to the challenge, not one to fall in love with. Because he’s vowed never to make that mistake again. The determined, lovely-eyed widow in the bookshop challenges Henry in every way. She’s exactly who his daughters need. But she’d rather have the book he’s after than his hand in marriage. A marriage of convenience could save Sarah and her son, but when she finds passion in the baron’s arms, she realizes security isn’t enough. She wants Henry’s heart. If he can find the courage to trust her with it. Excerpt Sarah stopped their progress and pulled away from him. Twisting her hands in front of her, she watched her son walk farther ahead then drew in a breath, and seemed to conquer whatever ailed her. Henry enjoyed watching the process of her gathering fortitude for whatever it was she was about to say. “Did you truly come back to issue a third proposal of marriage?” “You know I have.” She smirked. “Third time’s the charm?” “No. That suggests luck. Luck doesn’t obtain much of anything important. I’ve come prepared this time.” He resisted looking toward James. He kept his eyes pinned on hers. “The first time I proposed I did so on a moment’s whim. The second time, I’d determined that my whim was logical and correct, but I was not in the best of states to make a persuasive argument.” She eyed him from boots to hat. “And you are in a better state now?” she asked. While James had been fitted for new clothes, Henry had returned to Steven’s for a bath and a shave. He knew he didn’t make a shabby picture. “I believe I am prepared.” Henry stepped closer and untwisted Mrs. Pennington’s hands. Folding them in his own, he said, “Mrs. Pennington, we just met yesterday, but I believe we have much to offer one another. I’ll not repeat those arguments I made yesterday. You know them as well as I. Instead, I’ll say what I did not and should have.” He’d not said words like he was about to say to any woman in over five years, and he’d never said them to anyone on so short an acquaintance. But they must be said. They were true, he found, despite it all. He reached a hand to her temple where a curl had escaped her simple chignon. “I think you’re exquisite,” he said. “I think you’re smart. I think you’re brave. I think there’s no woman in England I’d rather marry half as much as you.” She blinked several times. Her mouth parted slightly. Her chest rose and fell faster than it had moments before. “I have one more argument, and it may be my most persuasive yet.” “Oh?” He snaked his arm around her waist and pulled her against his chest. He dipped his head until their noses touched. “Always put your best argument last.” His lips brushed hers before sinking in to drink long and full. The kiss was to him like water to the desert-lost soul. Her soft curves pushed against his chest, her long, strong back beneath his fingertips, all overwhelmed his senses. When her hands flattened against his chest, flexed, then roamed upward to wind around his neck, he moaned, then parted her lips with his tongue to drink of her more deeply. She let him make a spectacle of them both in the street until he was convinced, completely and utterly, of her answer. He grinned in their kiss, pulling away to view her flushed face. “Well?” he asked. “Are you persuaded?” He needed to hear her say it. Yes. Her hands still curled around his neck, and she stood on tiptoe, leaning against him. Her body resting against his for balance, for stability, felt like perfection. Better than the hot Egyptian sun. Better than a soft bed or warm bath. Better than being back at Cavendish Manor. She smiled, bit her lip. He knew what her smile meant. It meant victory. About The Author Charlie Lane traded in academic databases and scholarly journals for writing steamy Regency romcoms like the ones she’s always loved to read. Her favorite authors are Jane Austen (who else?), Toni Morrison, William Blake, Julia Quinn, Tessa Dare, and Amanda Quick, and when she’s not writing humorous conversations, dramatic confrontations, or sexy times, she’s flying high in the air as a circus-obsessed acrobat.Contact Links Purchase Link

3.5 Heart Review by Ashley
This is my first read from this writing duo and I am kicking myself for taking so long to jump in because wowwwwee!!! Lawson ticked all my boxes...romantic suspense, a strong heroine and protective hero that would do anything for his woman. While there were a few plot points that were started but never fully developed, it didn't detract too much.
Sandy Alvarez and Crystal Daniels are the powerhouse writing duo behind the widely popular MC series Kings of Retribution MC Montana and Louisiana.
Some of their other books include, Demetri and Nikolai The Volkov Empire, Leather and Mistletoe, Love above Law, Keeping Denver, Bayou Christmas, and Whiskey Holiday.
