Ms. Romance, Hannah Arden, writes one of the top read relationship advice columns in the nation. Mr. Reality, Brooks North, writes the top read relationship advice column. Ms. Romance believes in true love and soul mates. Mr. Reality believes love is a term humanity has assigned to the primal instinct to procreate. She believes in fate—he in chance. She knows there’s one right person for everyone—he knows there are multiple ones. The two writers couldn’t be more polarized on relationships. They’re professional rivals, and philosophical antagonists. For eight years, their battles have been fought with words and ink. That changes when they apply for the same position at the World Times and find themselves face-to-face for the first time. Brooks isn’t the sour-faced, antiquity of a man Hannah pictured. And Hannah isn’t exactly the middle-aged shrew with cat hair on her housedress that Brooks imagined either. In lieu of competing for the promotion traditional ways, the two writers are presented with playing the leading roles in a social experiment unlike any before. Can a person be tricked into falling in love? Can a relationship be crafted under the right string of circumstances? Hannah knows the answer. So does Brooks. Agreeing to the terms, the two set out on a three-month dating experiment, live-streamed for the world to watch. All Hannah has to do to win is not fall in love with the narcissistic brute. All Brooks has to do is get the starry-eyed dreamer to fall in love with him. Both are so confident in their philosophies, they expect the challenge to be easy. With the world watching, Brooks and Hannah will be forced to confront their beliefs and conclude, once and for all, who’s right. The answer is one neither of them saw coming. “So?” His head lowered toward mine. “Have you fallen in love with me yet?” A single-noted laugh escaped from me. “No. Sorry to burst your bubble.” “You know it’s only a matter of time.” “Before our three months are up and, lo and behold, I haven’t fallen madly in love with you?” I said. “Yeah, I know that.” He held out my glass of cider, scooting closer. “Am I really that offensive?” “Taken as a whole, no, you’re not. But taking this whole set-up into account, along with your beliefs that love is for weak-minded ninnies, then yes. You really are so offensive.” A half smile emerged. “What do your readers think about this whole thing?” “My readers definitely don’t want me falling for you,” I answered. “But your readers love romance, and some handsome, roguish fellow taking your hand in a park while you’re dressed in a white dress is the definition of romance.” Right then, Brooks’s hand covered mine where it was resting on the blanket. Instead of stiffening or whipping away, I found myself relaxing under his touch. The camera’s presence screamed at me from the corner of my eye. “My readers believe in finding the one.” My hand slipped from beneath his. “Not the one who takes your hand and pretends to like you so he gets the promotion.” “Who says I couldn’t be your one?” I laughed. “Even I don’t need to run the numbers to know that has about a one-in-an-impossible chance of happening.” Brooks slid his glasses onto his head, his eyes unapologetic in their stare. “You and me? You couldn’t see it?” “Not even a little.” I had to look away. “When it’s right, you know it. You feel it.” Brooks’s head shook before he took a drink of his cider. “I admit, it’s a nice idea. But don’t you feel it inside? The realization that it’s just not true?” He stared out at the park and the people in it. I gazed with him, trying to ignore that pit opening up in my stomach. “I’d rather spend my life chasing a dream than swallowing a cruel reality.” “You’d rather spend your life lying to yourself than being honest?” Brooks asked. “I don’t think any of what I believe is a lie. Soul mates, unconditional love, happy endings—it’s all real.” “Fairy tales,” he muttered under his breath. “So explain why a marriage dissolves after twenty years because of fifteen minutes of indiscretion.” Reaching for my glass, I answered, “It wouldn’t have if he kept it in his pants.” He blew out a sharp breath. “No, that’s like saying twenty years, our kids, our house, our finances, everything is worth less than that fifteen minutes of fucking.” His arms threw out, his tone rather impassioned. “That’s not unconditional love. That’s the very conditional kind.” “You’re right. It is the conditional kind. On the part of the one who engaged in the fifteen minutes of extra marital . . .” I just caught the cameraman’s hands flailing before I said, “Screwing. That was one-sided unconditional love, and that never works in a relationship.” One of his brows rose. “That’s a convenient explanation. But I’ll stick to my beliefs that all of that unconditional love junk is worth its weight in bullshit.” I shot the cameraman an apologetic look—so much for keeping this date in the PG realm. “Then how do you explain the couples it has worked for? The ones who live a long, happy, committed relationship together.” “I call it a case of two determined people willing to overlook each other’s weaknesses and not be hell-bent on changing or fixing the other, who’ve figured out a way to laugh at themselves, forgive easily—not to mention often—perfect the fine balance of selflessness and selfish, and on top of that, won the relationship lottery.” Brooks clinked his glass against mine before finishing what was left of his cider. “That’s how I explain that.” I blinked at him. “Wow. Don’t hold back or anything.” “That’s just half of it.”

Title: Reid
Series: Vested Interest Series
Author: Melanie Moreland
Genre: Contemporary/Romantic Comedy Romance
Release Date: September 17, 2018 Cover Design: Melissa Ringuette @ Monark Design Services
"Be prepared to laugh hard and swoon even harder. Reid is all the things I adore about romance--funny, sexy and chock-full of sweet, true love." B. Cranford, author of About Time "If beta heroes who love hard and aren't afraid to share their feelings is your brand of book boyfriend catnip, you're going to want to pick this one up." Rebecca Norinne, author of Not Quite Perfect "What makes this book special is watching Reid not just fall in love, but learn to love and be loved. Such a treat, and a deliciously satisfying close to a wonderful series!" Christi Barth, author of Bad Boys Gone Good series
Who is Reid Matthews?
A child, abandoned and unloved.
A teen, adrift and disregarded, using his superior tech skills for the wrong intentions.
A young adult, his future overshadowed by his prison record, his life an endless loop of loneliness.
Until he is given a second chance and a new life emerges.
A career he once thought he could only dream of, surrounded by people who show him that family and home aren’t simply words.
And a girl who shows him the greatest, most complex code he could ever write.
Love.
We spent the entire day together. I worked on the system, with Becca acting as my assistant. More than once, she rose up on her toes for a kiss. More than once, I had her pressed to the wall, devouring her mouth. It was the best install I had ever done.
“You are such a good kisser,” she murmured against my mouth. “How can a virgin be so good at kissing?”
Pleased she was enjoying my caresses, I grinned. “I have kissed girls and women, but, as I said, I haven’t gone beyond that.” I cupped her face, dragging my lips across her cheek to her sensitive earlobe. “I was waiting for the right person.”
“And I’m that person?”
“Yes,” I stated with conviction, dropping another kiss to her mouth. “You are.” I ran my fingers over my lips, then grabbed my drill.
“Why do you do that?”
“Do what?”
“You press your fingers on your mouth every time we kiss.”
“Oh, ah…” I stalled, looking over her shoulder. I felt heat prickle my neck.
“Tell me,” she insisted. “I want to know.”
“I like how it feels when you kiss me. I guess I’m sort of sealing you into me. Keeping your taste locked into my mouth.”
She stared at me, blinking and silent.
“Is that weird? It’s weird. I’m sorry.”
I wasn’t prepared when she launched herself at me. The drill flew one way; we hit the wall behind me, a mass of entangled arms and legs, her mouth on mine, hard and passionate. I slid down the wall to the floor, taking her with me. She was ferocious in her intensity, her kisses deep and possessive.
“You say the most erotic words,” she groaned. “Sealing my taste into you?”
“So, not weird?” I moaned as she kissed her way down my neck.
“No, not weird.” She hovered over me, her dark hair falling like a waterfall around us. “You turn me on like no man has ever done, Reid. Ever.” She kissed me again.
I was good with that.
Reid by Melanie Moreland
Brittany's rating: 5 of 5 stars Ohhhh, how I LOVE Reid. I love him so much. I've only read two of these Vested Interest books (Maddox was the other one I read), but I know that even if I had read Bentley and Aiden's stories (which I will at some point, I'm actually going to go one-click those right now), Reid would still be my favorite. I just love his character. His awkwardness and his desire to love and be loved. To feel important and like he has helped others at BAM. And he is all of those things. Aiden, Bentley, and Maddox all love Reid like a brother and will help him out no matter what. He falls for the new girl, Becca, that we were introduced to in Maddox. (It would be helpful to read Maddox before this book, but not required.) His past comes back to bite him in the ass, because Becca's father is over-protective of her and is adamant that certain types of people will never change. And Reid falls into one of those types of people. He's so caring and loving, always putting others first, but especially Becca. He will put his happiness behind him to ensure that Becca will stay happy. Reid is the perfect guy, one of my favorite male characters, and is my dream guy in real life. I love that Melanie Moreland gives us a lot of the other characters too. We see a lot of Maddox and Aiden, and some of Bentley. This book wouldn't be the same without them. They provide comic relief, especially during the "learning to dance" scene. I don't know if she's going to write anymore of these Vested Interest books, but I would definitely read them if she did. I think I will read anything that she writes. I love her writing. She doesn't overdo descriptions, doesn't write sex scenes for the sake of word count. She keeps her characters true to themselves and knows how to get a reader to fall in love with them. She's a fantastic writer and if you've never tried her before, I urge you to give her a try. American Asshole by Tara Sue Me
Brittany's rating: 4 of 5 stars I liked this book. It wasn't great, there wasn't anything that set it apart from others, but it was a short and fun read. I was actually expecting Tenor to be an asshole, quite like Mia expected him to be. I was expecting there to also be a bit more chemistry, just... overall more, but it wasn't as "stuffed" as I thought it would be. I don't really know how to say what I'm trying to say. It seemed like their relationship was one-dimensional. It could have used "more". It was a shorter read with some great characters. I am looking forward to Wren's story as well as Piers'. “I have to be honest, Mia. As much as I’m attracted to you, you and I can never happen.”
I wasn’t sure why I just lied to her. I probably didn’t sound very convincing, because Mia froze for a brief second before she continued eating. She took her time chewing and swallowing her bite of pancake. “Okay.” That was all she said. Okay. My proclamation didn’t seem to bother her a bit. I was shocked. I thought she’d push back or argue with me. Anything. But the calm, cool, and collected way she continued to eat her breakfast told me one of two things: Either she wasn’t attracted to me at all, which implied I’d read her all wrong or… She thought I was completely filled with horse shit. I was more inclined to go with the second option. I was, after all, a matchmaker and there was no way possible I could have been that wrong about the signals she was throwing my way the night before. And if option two was correct, she didn't believe a word I'd just said. Not that I did either. I cleared my throat. “Can we at least pretend that I meant what I said?” She gave me a sultry grin. “You're the boss.” That shouldn't have made me hard. It really shouldn't have. But damn… “Did you sleep okay last night?” I asked. Maybe a change of subject would help. Help what? I didn't know. “I did. And if I didn't say it before, thank you for everything you did.” “No need to thank me, Mia.” I wasn’t sure she would thank me if she knew how much I’d enjoyed holding her during the night or how I’d spent a lot of the night battling my erection. We fell into silence as we finished eating our breakfast. We would start meetings soon and we had plans to continue business through lunch. But tonight I had plans. Plans that didn't involve Benjamin. Meetings. Or anything remotely similar to behavior my lawyer would approve of. Which made me wonder why I even spoke that lie about us never happening. Maybe I should have worded it differently. Much differently.

One. By. One. “Oh,” she whispers. “Yeah, oh.” I swirl my tongue up her palm and to her wrist, applying light pressure as she falls into me. I’ve been patient, but when a tiny moan escapes her lips, my resolve snaps and I lift her into my arms and set her onto the counter with a gentle thud. “Oh. Cold.” She winces from the stainless on her bare thighs, the icing falling to the ground. “I can help with that,” I promise her as I bend down to retrieve the bag from the concrete floor. She watches me as I slowly move to stand between her legs and she opens them wider in invitation. My palms rest on her knees and slowly trail up and under the hem of her dainty dress. Reaching around under one leg, I drag my finger higher and collect the wayward pink sugar before bringing it to my lips to lick it away. “I noticed you had a little icing here.” She arches back, watching me. “Sometimes, I’m a little messy.” She blushes, and I know this is all new to her. Foreplay. Seduction. The fun that comes from making your lover squirm beneath your hands before you have barely even touched them. Hands that only touch for pleasure, comfort. “Messy is good.” I wiggle my fingers, still sticky with pink goo. She leans forward and takes my fingers in her hand, before bringing them to her own lips. I see her tongue dart out to taste my skin before I feel it. I grow painfully hard at the sight alone, but when her warm mouth takes my thumb into her mouth, I nearly make a fool of myself. But I fight to maintain my self-control, to give her this chance to explore. When I’m satisfied she’s ready for more, I pull my hand away and shift upward, taking her lips with my own. Our mouths meld together—a mix of salty and sweet. Skin and icing. Desire and hope. She moans into my mouth and I raise the skirt of her dress around her waist, careful not to completely expose her as I gently ease her back, my palm dragging slowly down her chest, right between her perfect tits. She falls back onto her elbows and looks at me, turned on and confused. “What are you doing? I’ve never—” she breathes out heavily. “Shhh. It’s okay. You trust me?” I ask, trailing my finger up her inner thigh resting it against the hem of her lace panties. Her moisture soaking into my skin while I wait for the green light to pleasure her. “Yes, Shapiro. I trust you. Always.” She sighs, edging closer to me. A simple yes would have been enough, but hearing my name fall from her lips, lips swollen from my kisses, is my undoing. Pulling the lace aside, I let my finger brush against her as I ease my mouth onto her, letting my tongue work a slow pace, just enough to caress her before withdrawing, then going deeper. She moans, and her hips begin to buck as I drown in the delicious taste of Penny. The more I drink her in, the hungrier I become. Picking up the pace, her hands tangle in my hair and I hold her in place and greedily lap her up as she rides out her ecstasy. She falls over the edge, giggling and moaning as she writhes against my lips. Just as I draw back and peer at her from between her gorgeous legs, the timer goes off. I dip back down to place one last gentle kiss to her core, before letting her panties fall back into place. Standing and helping her sit up as she adjusts her clothes she watches me, growing silent. “Was I? Was it—” She stumbles over the words and I am crushed she doubts herself so much. “Perfection.” I lean in and kiss her once more. Letting her taste herself on my lips. “It’s actually my new favorite dessert.” I smile against her lips. “Is that so?” She laughs. Drawing back, I see her smile is where it belongs. “Yep. How about you? You okay?” I search her face for any traces of regret but only find her looking at me like I just hung the fucking moon and it’s the best feeling in the world. “More than okay,” she whispers as I help her down before she rushes to get the cupcakes that are now burning. “How much work do you have left?” I ask. “I think I’m done here.” She winks, pulling them from the oven setting them aside to cool. She may be done, but I’m just getting started, I think to myself as we clean up. Redemption by T.K. Leigh
Brittany’s rating: 5 of 5 stars Such a great book! I loved the ending to Brooklyn and Drew's story. And what a story it was. It's filled with drama. It's also suspenseful, in the way that you're just dying for Brooklyn and Drew to finally get together, and when you think they finally got their shit together, it ends up not happening. And Drew's girls. Drew's girls are so amazing and bring a lot of joy to these books. I feel like I'm at a loss as to what to say about this book. It was a fun read that I couldn't put down. I love TK Leigh and everything she writes, and this was no different. I am now excited for Wes' story. View all my reviews Start the Series for Free!

5 Star Review by Brittany
I absolutely LOVED Blue. I mean, who doesn't love a hot cop? Talk about swoon!I feel that this book had a lot of the author in it. The writing felt like it was coming from personal experiences, at least when it comes to Psalm. It made reading it feel more real, which I really liked. I absolutely HATED Blue's ex, though. And that bomb he dropped... I totally did NOT see that coming. It shocked the absolute hell out of me, which is hard to do. The kids in this book are so sweet. She wrote them very well. I love ML Nystrom and absolutely love her Dragon Runners series. We didn't get to see too much of them in this book, but we do get updates on Stud and Eva and Mute and Kat. I did feel a little disconnect with Psalm and Blue in terms of their relationship. It took me a while to become convinced that they were meant to be. Other than that, this book was great! I loved it and the ending was a definite page turner!

ML Nystrom had stories in her head since she was a child. All sorts of stories of fantasy, romance, mystery and anything else that captured her interest. A voracious reader, sheâs spent many hours devouring books; therefore, she found it only fitting she should write a few herself!
ML has spent most of my life as a performing musician and band instrument repair technician, but that doesnât mean sheâs pigeon-holed into one mold. Sheâs been a university professor, belly dancer, craftsperson, soap maker, singer, rock band artist, jewelry maker, lifeguard, swim coach, and whatever else she felt like exploring. As one of her students said to her once, "Lifeâs too short to ignore the opportunities." She has no intention of ever stopping... so welcome to her story world. She hopes you enjoy it!

They say, once a hero always a hero and nothing could be more true for Jimmy. When Jimmy receives a call from an unknown number, he wastes no time in saving the damsel in distress.
Emma has made one bad decision after another. When a man 20 years older than her saves her from her latest bad decision, she wants to stay safely wrapped around him.
When the world throws them together then rips them apart, they must decide if what they feel is worth taking a chance on.
Raised all over the country, I'm a interesting mix of East Coast meets West Coast with a little bit of Southern thrown in, just for good measure. I married a sexy man in uniform who let me spawn and am now raising a mutinous army of hell raisers that I created myself, all while he defends our country. I drink too much coffee until it's late enough to drink too much wine and am sexually frustrated for your freedom. If you see me online, I'm probably sitting in a closet, hiding from my kids.

Fluent in sarcasm, Supernatural, and song lyrics, I like talking to people and finding what makes them tick, though that probably has to do with the Psychology degree. I’m up before the sun because my kids don’t sleep, chugging tea and coffee to keep my eyes open and my brain semi functional. Being married to a man in uniform means I’ve lived a lot of places, survived seeing my husband for half the amount of time I’ve been married, and spent a lot of time raising my kids alone.
I love to write messed up psychos with lots of angst, happily ever afters that have to be worked for. Women with sass and backbone, men with a twisted hero complex and the need to control are my favorite to read as well as write.

Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks / Kobo / Series link -- EXCERPT: He rasped, “You going somewhere, Sin?” There was no smile. When he crossed his muscular arms, my eyes traveled up his tall, well-built body that was pure rippling muscle. Hardened abs trailed downward to the waist of his black designer-looking jeans. Damn, no man should look this fucking good all the time. “Yep,” I replied. “I’ve got shit to do.” He arched a brow. “Like?” “Like it’s none of your business,” I replied while slowly plodding toward him, stepping into his massive kitchen. We stood face-to-face as I leaned my hip against the granite kitchen counter. He scowled. “That’s where you’re wrong. Everything about you is my business.” He was studying me too closely, his expression brooding.

Throwing shade—this is new for me.
Wes smirks. He doesn’t seem the least bit insulted, which surprises me and irritates me at the same time. Before I say another word, a man approaches our table as the color drains from my face. I’ve made a grave mistake. “Wes?” I ask the man who just walked up.
“Juliette?” He laughs nervously, tucking his hands into his pockets. “Did you book two dates in one night?”
“Oh my gosh. No.” I am utterly embarrassed. Turning toward the man at my table, I ask, “Who are you?”
This gets a smile out of the stranger who has been watching me banter back and forth awkwardly with Wes. “The name’s Clark.” Looking from Clark to Wes, I can’t believe I made this mistake. My actual date is a watered down version of the man I’m sitting across from. Getting up from the table, I turn toward Wes. “I apologize! Let’s start fresh.” “Alrighty. Sounds like a plan,” Wes says in an easygoing way, pointing in the direction of the front doors. “I got us a table over there.” “Sorry about all of this,” I say to Clark before following Wes to our new table. Clark doesn’t say anything; he just laughs and returns his gaze back to his newspaper, as if this incident didn’t happen. During my rather boring conversation with Wes, I can’t help but wish I could see the expression on Clark’s face. His back is turned to me, but I keep glancing in his direction. When Clark gets up to leave, he walks by our table and gives me a little nod. I secretly wish he’d break up this date I’m on. Wes rambles for another forty minutes before I get the “emergency” text message from my friend, Whitney, telling me I’m needed for open-heart surgery. No, I’m not a doctor. Yes, I’ll gladly take the escape she’s fabricated. Wes sees me to the door and plants a rather wet, sloppy kiss on my cheek. When I’m around the block, I wipe my face with my sleeve. The feeling of defeat washes over me. I walk a few more blocks until I’m safely back at my apartment building in Manhattan. I shoot Whitney a text letting her know I wasn’t murdered. When online dating I always let my friends know where I am going and with who. Call me paranoid, but I’m not about to end up handcuffed in someone’s basement. Next, I hit up the wine fridge for a much-needed glass of red. As I cuddle up on the couch, I can’t help but question … who is Clark? And why do I want to talk to him again?
