Blog Tour & ReviewTitle: Lucas – A Preston Brothers NovelAuthor: Jay McLeanRelease Day: November 1, 2016PURCHASE LINKS:BLURBIn a sprint, every millisecond counts. When you're waiting for love, those milliseconds can feel like eons. High school senior Lucas Preston has it all: star of the track team, a scholarship waiting for him, an apartment to himself and a revolving door of girlfriends. He also has an older sister, five younger brothers and a father who relies on him to make sure those brothers don't kill each other. His saving grace? Lois "Laney" Sanders, a girl he started to fall in like with when he was just eleven. A girl who became his best friend, his confidant, his courage. It took only sixteen clicks and eight seconds for Lucas to realize that his like for Laney had turned into love. Eight life-changing seconds. It's also the exact length of time it took to lose her. GOODREADS LINK:5 Star Review by Ashley
WOW! Can you say angst overload? Lucas took me on a loop and then backwards and then sideways and up again. From the first page to the last Jay McLean wove an intricate tale of love, loss and longing. I was consumed by this story. I soaked up every word- every tear, ever missed opportunity between Lucas and Laney made me root for them all the more.
These best friends whose worlds couldn't have been more different found their safe place, their haven in each other- when they were kids. But life happened to them. It got sad and messy and ugly and for one fleeting moment in time it was magical and beautiful. Then life happened again. My heart just broke for these two- their hearts yearned for each other but they were both too self-sacrificing to make it happen. Lucas for the sake of his family and Laney for Luke's happiness. My heart is racing just thinking about all that Lucas and Laney went through. I can honestly say that I did NOT see that twist coming. At. All. I think my heart stopped. As did the whole Preston clan's. I would be remiss if I left them out. Especially Lachaln. That little guy brought the laughter and much needed lightness to the story. Jay McLean started something truly wonderful with this book and I can not wait to really get to know the rest of the family as this series goes on. AUTHOR BIOJay McLean is an international best-selling author and full-time reader, writer of New Adult Romance, and most of all, procrastinator. “Why do you guys call me ‘Princess’? I’m no princess.”
Dalton sits back on his heels against the lockers next to me with his usual self-assured smirk. “Well, let’s see…you’re rich, your dad is a effin’ rock star, which makes him a king in my book, you’re prudish, you’re pretty, and you have delicate mannerisms sometimes. ‘Princess’ just seemed to suit you.”
With wide eyes, I struggle to absorb everything he just told me. Delicate mannerisms? What version of Mads does he know, and where can I find her?
My self-deprecating thoughts are interrupted when Raven appears out of nowhere with her usual swarm of girls in tow. She strides up to Giovanni Abate, who is still standing at his locker behind us. Cupping his neck with her left hand, Raven looks directly into my eyes as she slowly pulls Gio’s face down to hers. Before I can even register what’s going on, they’re in a lip-lock very similar to the one I found them in on Halloween night. Everyone in the hallway gasps and stares at Raven’s disgusting display. My stomach heaves, making me turn the other direction to avoid losing my breakfast. This is a battle tactic I wasn’t counting on her starting off with. She saved all her attack power over the past week for this one effective takedown in the hallway. I’m about to come unraveled right now in front of all these people. From the sounds they’re making, I can gather Gio is returning her kiss with equal fervor. Real or not, I’m not ready for this, and not only is it hurting me, it’s insanely disrespectful to Dalton.
The disrespect is not lost on my streetwise friend. I hear him growl and seethe behind me. Then I’m surprised when he grips me by the shoulders and whirls me around to face him. He leans down, looks me dead in the eyes, and probes my soul as he asks me a question.
“You wanna get her back?”

Amazon US |Amazon UK | Amazon AU Excerpt Despite having lived in my new duplex for over two weeks, I still had yet to unpack most of my things, or get my own furniture. A couple nights before, in an attempt to tire myself out, I had picked three boxes to unpack. One of the boxes was filled with photographs, and the other two contained various vestiges from my life when my family was whole: porcelain figurines Mama had picked out on our various trips to Disneyland, doo-wop and standards recorded on vinyl, and assorted signage and décor from my parent’s restaurant. I’d also found a couple Barbie dolls still in their boxes from when I was younger. I had never hopped on the Barbie doll train, but I knew a certain five-year-old who might have, so I had put the records and the Barbies in a bag and placed them in my office, intending on giving them to Luke the next time I saw him. I thought they might like them. What I didn’t expect was the hostile look he was giving me. He took three quick strides toward me. “Let me make something perfectly clear to you, Duchess. Lily and I are not some charity case. We don’t need you donating your unwanted things because you feel sorry for us.” He shoved the bag into my arms. “You think I’m giving these to you because I feel sorry for you?” “Yeah, and we don’t need your pity.” I threw the bag down on the desk. “You know what, Luke? You’re a real asshole sometimes.” “Just calling a spade a spade.” “Well, I’m just calling an asshole an asshole.” We stared at each other with our faces just inches apart and I swallowed hard. His chest heaved and when his eyes dipped to my mouth, I wet my lips with my tongue, suddenly feeling like I’d been chewing on sandpaper. His arms were braced along the edge of the desk, caging me in, and I could smell the sweet hint of mint on his breath. “I don’t want your things. There’s a reason I live the way I do, so just leave it the fuck alone.” He turned to leave, but I reached out, my fingers touching his forearm, begging him to wait. “I-I’m sorry,” I stammered. “I was just trying to be nice. I just wanted to do something nice for you and Lily.” His head was bowed and his back remained turned toward me, but I knew my words had dented his armor, even if for only a moment. “Why?” “What do you mean why?” He whirled around and pinned me with a glare. “I mean, why bother? Since I’ve met you, I’ve given you no indication that I want to be your friend or get to know you better, and yet, you keep trying.” He took a step toward me. “Why?” The air was thick with tension and I could feel it like static, rousing every cell in my body. His deep grey irises seared through my soul as he searched my face for an answer. “Because,” I said quietly, “I know what it’s like. I know how grief can consume you until there’s nothing left. I know what it feels like to push everyone away because it’s easier than allowing people in and risking losing them, too, but I was lucky in that I had people who stuck by me even when I was a complete nightmare to be around. They pushed me to talk to them, even when I had nothing to say.” I paused, my heart thrashing violently in my chest. “But you? From what I can tell, Luke, you don’t have that, and that’s a damn shame because as much as you try to only show people what you want to show them, I see past that. I see the man you really are when you hold your little girl in your arms. I see the kindness buried deep in your heart. You didn’t have to offer to help me with Mama, but you did. So yeah, I keep trying, and that’s not going to change because you may not feel like you’re worth it, but I—” He cut me off with a kiss. His right hand reached out and wrapped around my waist, jerking me toward him until I was pressed hard against his body. His mouth came down on mine with such intensity, I could feel every ounce of pain, grief, and desire he’d kept locked tight within him. A low rumble in his throat urged my lips open and when his tongue swept along my bottom lip, a soft moan escaped me. I placed one hand to the back of his neck, pressing myself into him, needing to be closer. He gripped me tighter as the heat of our kiss deepened, making me dizzy with need. In that moment, I could feel him opening his heart to me. His left hand moved to my cheek and he used his thumb to tilt my head back. He controlled the moment. He controlled every movement. He was the puppeteer and I was his marionette, bending and twisting to his will. And I let him. Maybe it was because he had spent so much time feeling out of control and he needed just one second where he didn’t feel so lost. Maybe I let him because for a brief instant in time I remembered what desire felt like. Maybe this was what we both needed, two broken people yearning for a respite from our pain and finding it in each other. He alternated between letting his tongue tease me with long languid strokes and nipping at my bottom lip with his teeth, sending a heady ripple of lust all the way through my core. My hands slipped beneath the edge of his shirt, touching the hard ridges of his stomach. His eyes shot open and he tore himself away from me. Our chests heaved synchronously to the beat of our wounded hearts, and his eyes were filled with fear. “Ashlynn,” he said quietly. “Yes,” I responded, already knowing what he was about to say. “I’m sorry. This was a terrible mistake.” He ran his hand over his jaw and walked out the door, leaving me with nothing but the sweet taste of him on my lips.About The Author Karlee Winters is a romance writer living beneath the hot Arizona sun with her husband and their cat, Kaylie. Aspiring ballerina Amelia Wester’s privileged life fell apart on her 13th birthday when the Yellowstone volcano blew and ended civilization as she knew it. Five years later, she struggles for survival in the bombed-out ruins of Charlotte, North Carolina. Her only friend is a feral cat named Charlie. A life of isolation is her only defense against falling prey to the cannibal element as well as from the other survivors, who are just as desperate as she is to claim the last scraps of food. Jackson Martell is a security guard at a mysterious place in the mountains of North Carolina known only as The Arc. Five years after the fall of civilization, he’s sent with a group of others to kill off the cannibal inhabitants that now populate Charlotte, NC. A former Cornell student, he dreams of using this assignment to prove himself and rise above the level of glorified security guard. When he spies a young dancer, her graceful performance amongst the shelled-out ruins strikes something deep inside him. Kill her? Not possible. His fascination soon becomes an obsession, and Amelia gains a stalker. If Amelia can’t remain hidden from the soldiers, the cannibals, and the other survivors, her life will be a short one. If Jackson can’t control his obsession with Amelia, he’ll screw up his one chance at gaining a better future. But fire is fire, and fate is fate, and the stalker and his prey may not be able to resist a future that will destroy them both. This dark romance novel contains mature situations and sensitive subject matter, and contains triggers some readers may find discomforting. It is a work of fiction and is intended for adult readers 18 and older.
Heather Knight doesn’t go for billionaires with helicopters or country club fellas who sip Moscow Mules by the pool. She likes her men Mad, Bad, and Dangerous to know. Her books push the boundaries of both romance and erotica and are classified as Dark Romance. Walking away will be the hardest thing of all. Add to Goodreads4.5 Star Review by Ashley
Katy Evans what have you done to me? You got me invested in a book that would normally be so not my thing. But Mr. President is so much more than a book about politics. It's love and life and sacrifice and hope and heartache. I love me a good romance with a touch of the forbidden and this book had that in spades.
Super swoony Matthew Hamilton is carrying the weight of the world on his well sculpted and hopeful shoulders. The only thing that eases his mind and soul is the one thing he knows he shouldn't have, Charlotte. I adored this woman. With her quiet self confidence and fresh approach to age-old ideals. There was so much at stake but it was a risk that Matt was willing to take, because Charlotte was more than worth it. The real magic between these two wasn't when they were steaming up the sheets, it was in the small moments. A stolen glance, a shared joke, a brush of the hand, a centimeter.... Of course no book containing a politician would be complete without the secrets, sex and potential scandal to be had. But Katy Evans made it about the people, not politics, which I commend her for. And that ending, oh my heart. I need more Matt and Charlotte. Their connection was unlike any I've read and I just know that there is something big in store for them. Now I'm waiting, twiddling my thumbs, for the release of the next installment of this duet. I fell in love with Thomas Wells and knew he was my forever.
I was sixteen when I gave him my heart.
Our love was the kind to last a lifetime.
But Thomas was broken.
The first day we met he told me he was going to become a Navy SEAL.
At nineteen he enlisted.
At twenty he married me.
At twenty five he left me pregnant and didn't turn back.
I knew he was suffering….
I also knew I couldn't save him.
He left me broken.
I was scared and alone.
Until I met Ryder St. John a wounded soldier…
He was lost.
I was lost.
Together we made sense.
I fell in love again…
What Ryder forgot to mention was that he held a secret so explosive that it could shatter both our worlds.
“We aren’t from the same area of Rogers Park I’m guessing, but no I don’t like it. I live with my father and I can’t wait to leave. I’ve been training since the day I turned fifteen. There’s a SEAL training camp in Great Lakes, Illinois and that’s where I’m headed. Then I’ll be property of the navy and allow them to take me wherever that may be as long as it’s away from here.”
I can’t help but sulk.
“Yeah, I wouldn’t mind going back to LA,” I mutter.
“How old are you anyway?”
“I’m fifteen. And you?”
“I just turned seventeen,” he replies, biting his lower lip again. I wonder if it’s a nervous habit. “Are you going to give me your number?” he asks. He obviously didn’t have self-esteem issues. I look over to my side and I see Amanda practically drooling as she watches us.
“Ah!” He takes a step back as if he’s tripped and holds his hand up to his chest. “I’m wounded. You seriously need to think about it? Well, that’s a first.” He shakes his head.
Oh geez! He must have lots of girlfriends. Leave it up to me to be lusting after a player.
“Well, if that’s a first then you don’t need to worry,” I snap at him, not liking his arrogance. “You must have them waiting in line for you.”
He looks almost bewildered and remains painfully quiet. It makes me feel like I have the upper hand and I like it for once. Maybe I’ve been drooling too much and he senses it. Not happening.
“There’s a line, but it’s your number I want,” he replies with a cocky grin.
“Thomas, I am not that kind of girl,” I answer harshly.
“Halo, I know you aren’t and that’s why I want your number.” His tone is filled with challenge.
As far back as R.C. Stephens can remember she was a sucker for a good romance. Of course there had to be a prince charming even if he ultimately was a dark knight and there had to be a happy ending.
