I am always on the hunt for new to me romantic suspense authors and from the sound of Exchange of Fire, I knew it would be my first read from P.A. DePaul. From the very start, this book was intense and full throttle.

There was A LOT going on (maybe too much?) and there were a fair amount of characters to keep track of. But they all impacted the story that revolved around Sandra in some way. I liked that this force of a woman was doing what she could to start over after the mistake she couldn't seem to shake. She thought she had found a safe haven until her past showed up and caused nothing but chaos. And caught in the middle of it all was Grady.

I loved that he was just a good guy. Doing his part to make a positive impact on his community. And helpless to stop his feelings for Sandra even when her carefully constructed life came crumbling down and he got wrapped up in the danger.

And in the middle of all the mayhem was this fiery romance that was brimming with passion. Two people longing for what they never thought they could have. While I found that parts seemed to drag on (a bit unnecessarily), I had to know how it would all play out. My pulse was pounding and my stomach was in my throat as the twisted scheme that put everyone at risk unraveled. But that ending...ohhhhhh I am intrigued and anxious to see what is in store for the team next!
