When the divorced mother of the groom goes head-to-head with the single father of the bride, they might be the next couple experiencing a heart-to-heart. When my son asked me to take his ticket for the honeymoon that didn’t happen, I balked. What would I do on a ten-day vacation in Belize? More importantly, what caused my son and the love of his life to call off their wedding? I didn’t have an answer, and he wasn’t sharing So, I’d traded places with him. Over a week of sunshine and me-time was on the docket until he arrived. Dallas Cole had silver in his beard, eyes the color of an ocean, and the most annoying drawl. And by annoying, I mean, thigh-clenching, heart-hammering, make me want to kiss him swagger. Only, that’s something I would never do, because he’s the single father of the bride for the wedding that never was, and now, he’s encroaching on my parentmoon. One house. One bed. Not happening. So what if he calls me darlin’ in that swoony voice. Not going there despite his smirky grin amongst the gray on his jaw. Not going to think about the fact he saw me naked . . . by accident. Nope. The former father of the bride will only be going head-to-head with this protective mother of the groom, not lips to lips, or any other body part. And definitely not heart to heart. Dunbar...yes please! I knew from the first meeting between Dallas and Jo that it was going to be a bumpy ride and Parentmoon did not let me down. A busted engagement, a long needed escape and an unexpected roommate made for a vacation neither would forget. Not going to lie, it took me a minute to warm up to Jo. She was a bit standoffish and brash but under that hard shell was a woman who was lonely and tender. It showed in the way she ate up the attention Dallas gave her. It didn't hurt that he was easy on the eyes and built up her confidence with his compliments. My favorite thing about Dallas was that he was just a good guy. Yes, he was randy like a teen with how he wanted Jo but at his core, he was a real gentleman. It showed in the relationship he had with his daughter, and the way he treated Jo with respect and reverence. The feelings they each developed came on hard and fast. Seeing them both open up and share the vulnerable parts of themselves after they had been hurt by love in the past made me melt. But the clock was ticking from the moment they arrived on the island. The timeline only got bumped up with a surprise visit. Secrets were revealed and everything got thrown into chaos. I had a lump in my throat for I truly didn't know how it was all going to pan out. I need not have worried...a risk, a sacrifice, a choice...The ending to Dallas and Jo's vacation romance left me with a satisfied smile and wanting a rum punch at the beach. About the Author
