“Come here,” Styx says, giving my arm a weak tug. “Where?” “Come lie with me.” I laugh and shake my head. “I can’t. I’ll squash your lines.” “They’re plastic; they’ll bounce back.” His face turns serious, and the desperation in his eyes claws at my resolve. “Get your sweet ass up here, Stones. I wanna hold my girl.” It takes a little maneuvering with his central line and heart-rate monitor, and my IV, but eventually I settle in against his side and he wraps his good arm around me, holding me as tightly as his weak body will allow. I wish we had the power to make time wait for us. I’d make it wait forever, right here. I’d use up all of the seconds it’s stolen from me, from us, and the lifetime it’s going to steal from our future. If I had the ability, I’d hit pause right here, and I’d never let him go.

Oh, be still my beating heart.

This book broke me. It didn't put me back together, it just broke me in half. I cried like a little baby at the end. Carmen Jenner, I do have a bone to pick with you. You just can't (view spoiler) You just can't! Even though you ended it the way you did, with it nice and happy, you just can't do that! I am still giving you five stars, though, because this book was just amazing.

The love between Styx and Stones is one for the ages. It's teenage love, with Styx falling for her the instant he saw her. Some people think that teenage love isn't the real thing, but I totally felt what they had for each other. It's a beautiful thing and I want that too.

The only negative thing is that the cover does not match the story at all. There is only one mention of skateboarding in the book, and that's when Styx skateboarded over to Stones' house.

Guard your heart with this book. It's definitely an ugly cry. And even though it does end happily, it's also not happy. I love these two characters and this book will stick with me for the longest time.

I thought I was prepared for this book, but when I sat down and read the whole thing I knew I just was not prepared to go through all the heartbreaking, emotional, irritatingly red eyes, puffy nose and uncontrollable crying.

Styx and Stones will forever hold a piece of my heart. I read this knowing what to expect but regardless, I went in and had myself the most painful, ugly cry of my life. I sadly went through a painful loss with cancer in my family and even though it happened many, many years ago, it still never fades.

Styx and Stones had a beautiful relationship from the get-go. They instantly connected especially because they were both going through something the same. One was optimistic, or tried to be while the other one just looked at it the way it was. But it still didn't change how they were like one. I loved their banter and how easily they got along. They certainly are a couple to always remember. Just like in a movie, we don't always get the HEA we hope we get, and in this story we definitely knew what we were getting in the end.

This story was ripped me and has reached my top ugly cry reads of 2019!
