“The queen of enemies-to-lovers strikes again. I devoured every page, hooked on the sizzling chemistry between Hunter and Sailor. A ten star read." --Parker S. Huntington, Wall Street Journal bestselling author
The Hunter, an all-new compelling and must-read contemporary romance from USA Today bestselling author L.J. Shen is available now!
Boston’s debauched elite is going up in flames, and it’s the Fitzpatrick family that set it on fire.
Hunter
I didn’t mean to star in a sex tape, okay?
It was just one of those unexplainable things. Like Stonehenge, Police Academy 2, and morning glory clouds.
It just happened.
Now my ball-busting father is sentencing me to six months of celibacy, sobriety, and morbid boredom under the roof of Boston’s nerdiest girl alive, Sailor Brennan.
The virginal archer is supposed to babysit my ass while I learn to take my place in Royal Pipelines, my family’s oil company.
Little does she know, that’s not the only pipe I’ll be laying…
Sailor
I didn’t want this gig, okay?
But the deal was too sweet to walk away from.
I needed the public endorsement; Hunter needed a nanny.
Besides, what’s six months in the grand scheme of things?
It’s not like I’m in danger of falling in love with the appallingly gorgeous, charismatic gazillionaire who happens to be one of Boston’s most eligible bachelors.
No. I will remain immune to Hunter Fitzpatrick’s charm.
Even at the cost of losing everything I have.
Even at the cost of burning down his kingdom.

5 Heart Review by Lorena
Ms. Shen has done it again! Another one to add to my top reads for 2020! There was everything to love about this book. The characters, the supporting characters, the little cameo's from other characters from other books. But this book had me in stitches. I haven't read a book that had my heart soaring and I couldn't stop laughing with how Hunter and Sailor just had this great dynamic. Their banter back and forth was so darn cute and hilarious. "He was fearless, and a rebel, and a sinner, and a saint". There was so much to this book besides the fun aspect, there was also things that Shen is so good at talking about. There is also somewhat of a sad topic that involves Hunter and his family, things that we never imagined could have been the reasons for his behavioral issues. Hunter's family want him to lay low after a scandal involving him and they also want him to prove to them that he can actually stay out of the limelight and be a responsible man. He certainly had to go through hurdles to prove to his family that he could be what they want him to be. If only they would stop being so cold and treating him like he doesn't exist. Sailor was assigned to pretty much babysit Hunter. She had to keep him in the straight and narrow. The question now is, can she succeed with this hard task??? Sailor may not have been the beautiful swan when she and Hunter first met, but she certainly knew how to transform herself and not just for herself but also once she realized that her feelings were more than just friendly. She actually wanted Hunter to notice her aside of his reputation. Could she have changed this womanizing man? Maybe! But this book is certainly going on my top of 2020 for sure!
4.5 Heart Review by Ashley GAH!!! Will there ever be a time when L.J. Shen doesn't slay me? I hope the answer to that question is always no. Because holy wowza...The Hunter blew me away. I was consumed from the first page. While it took me a hot minute to warm up to Hunter (what can I say, he was a jerk in the beginning) I loved Sailor from the start, She was unflappably herself and didn't hold back on putting Hunter in his place. And most of the time he deserved it. But as they spent more time together, got to know one another, it was clear they were more alike than they knew. I loved how much they both grew. Hunter started to focus and learn. Not just about the company but himself as well. What he wanted for his own future. And Sailor, who had never been one to hold back with Hunter, started showing off her backbone of steel. But more than that, I loved how their relationship transformed. From strangers to acquaintances to a quasi-friendship to lust to more. The change was subtle but present in the small things they did for one another. There was always this bubble they were on...waiting for each others next move, the shoe to drop. And when it did, neither were left unscathed. Oh my heart just shattered for them both. For the boy who had finally had a taste of normal. For the girl who found someone who saw her. But the twists didn't stop there... In true L.J. Shen fashion, there were more bumps in the road before these two finally got on the same page. But when they put all the pieces together, thanks to some good scheming, it was like the clouds parted, the sun came out and the birds sang. Everything about this book the sharp and witty banter, the jokes, the dark and twisted revelations, the bond between two seemingly opposites all added up to make The Hunter unputdownable. And that ending...perfection.
Excerpt “Why?” I asked, blinking at him in confusion. I had two left legs and the coordination of roadkill. I couldn’t dance if my life depended on it. I’d tried dancing at the only party I’d ever gone to—sophomore year—and was subjected to such thorough humiliation. People took videos of me dancing and forwarded it to half my school. Saggy Sailor, they’d graffiti-ed on my locker. Apparently, my back looked hunched and droopy when I danced. “Because…” He tilted his chin down, his voice low, smoldering. “You’re obviously bored, and my family is watching us, and I’m partial to fondling you.” “It’s the dress,” I muttered. “I’d actually prefer fondling you out of it.” I sliced my gaze sideways, noticing that Aisling and Persy hadn’t picked up on my exchange with him. They were now watching a video, probably of the reality show they were arguing about. Even though Hunter was just after a friendly dance to show his family we were getting along, I couldn’t unglue my butt from my chair. “No fondling.” I crossed my arms over my chest, buying time. “No promises. Get up.” “Did you tell anyone we live together?” I accused, my eyes narrowing into slits. He stared at me, wide-eyed, mouth parted. “Negatory.” “Did you tell anyone we were dating?” “This is the lamest twenty-questions game I’ve ever participated in. No.” “Well, people are talking about us.” “That’s what people do. They fill the air with useless words to entertain each other. It’s called gossip, and it sucks all the asses in the world. Doesn’t mean it was me. Our building employs more than a hundred people. All of them work for my father. That means he’s spreading whatever the hell he wants to spread.”
