Here’s my secret…I usually keep a private Pinterest Board for each book or series as I write. There I post inspiration photos. Setting, characters, ideas, tone – photos that make me think of the book. I also type in some details that I want to remember as I write. When it’s time to release the book, I erase all my author notes and make it public. Doing this also makes picking a dream cast now pretty easy because I’ve already done it!
For Damon Knox, the man with a mysterious past who claims not to want to get involved in other people’s problems, I think of Stephen Amell, of Arrow fame. His smile…along with those biceps…are pretty impressive.
For the determined, not-a-fan-of-nonsense heroine, Cate Pendleton, I thought of Shay Mitchell from Pretty Little Liars. Stunning and strong. Smart and thoughtful. She is perfect.
I love writing about male friendships, and that’s true in THE PROTECTOR as well. Best friend Trevor Gault made me think about Eric Christian Olsen from NCIS: Los Angeles. He has that blond surfer dude look and a smile that lets you know he’s trouble, but in the best possible way.
The behind-the-scenes guidance throughout the entire Games People Play series comes from a man named Wren. It’s his last name…and that’s not even his real name, but that doesn’t matter. Daniel Henny of Criminal Minds has the right look. Actually, he has a great look. Just saying.
