It was supposed to be an amazing year—the perfect year.
And it started out that way… until my mom remarried, and I found myself in a new town, at a new school, and living with quite possibly the most conniving person I had ever met.
But my horrible stepbrother wasn’t even the worst part.
It was his best friend.
Zayden Michaels.
Gorgeous. Unpredictable. Treacherous.
The kind of guy who sends most sane people running in the opposite direction.
He hated me from the first moment he saw me.
He made it his mission to make sure I knew it too.
I became the target—the bullied.
Until suddenly I wasn’t anymore.
But in a world of rumors, games, and deceit, you never really know who you can trust.
Sometimes the best deceptions are the ones you never see coming.
![]() My rating: 4 of 5 stars This bully young adult book had he completely hooked. I loved the fact that it didn't take long for Zayden and Rylee to acknowledge their feelings for each other. At first yeah, Zayden was a bully towards her but that was because her stepbrother was a real a$$ and blamed her and her mother for breaking up his parent's marriage. But people shouldn't cast stones right! How would it have been Rylee's fault that their parents married and now they have to co-habitat with each other!! Oliver was trying to make Rylee's life as miserable as possible and getting everyone at school to treat her insignificantly. And I loved that Rylee didn't show any weakness or stoop down to their level. This girl stood up for herself and for what she stood for. She was straight up a tough little cookie and I give her props for not letting the bullies get to her. But as she had to work closely with Zayden on a project for school she found herself liking him more and more even though he tried to embarrass her every chance he got. But once they both started to get to know each other he started feeling fiercely protective of her and he couldn't understand why because he was loyal to his best friend who happened to be Rylee's stepbrother. Zayden had a huge dislike for people with money because he felt them to be pretentious, spoiled rich people and that's how he viewed Rylee at first. But once he found her to be down to earth he realized that she was nothing like the spoiled rich girls. The characters were very likable. I loved this book and the collaboration between these two authors was a great start together! 4.5 Stars ![]()
