There’s a hot new hire.

Too bad she’s Donavan’s ex.

Oh, and there’s one other problem—they hate each other.

The last thing he expected to see when he walked into the office was Paisley Williams.

She was the only person to graduate ahead of him at Columbia. The one woman who could give it back better than he could dish it out.

She was also the biggest regret of his life. What he did to her was unforgivable.

Now, she’s back in Chicago, working at his firm.

When old feelings interfere, stakes get raised, and secrets are revealed…

Will they have a shot at making it the second time around? Or are they more doomed than the first?

3.5 Heart Review by Ashley

I admit it, Arrogant Playboy is the first book in this series that I've read from Sloane Howell and Alex Wolf. So that probably had a good deal to do with me being confused on some of the things/references that happened in this book, but I was able to follow along pretty well regardless.

It took me a hot minute to warm up to Donovan. He was arrogant, over confident, angry, lonely. His relationship with his brothers, and co-workers, was tenuous at best. They were constantly fighting and couldn't seem to agree on anything. Especially the new hire, Donovan's ex. The only woman he ever loved. The one he let slip through his fingers.

I liked Paisley. Smart. Kind. Savvy. Selfless. And not afraid to go toe-to-toe with Donovan and his temper. She had her own reasons for coming to his firm and her actions proved she deserved to be there. And in the middle of all she was juggling, there was Donovan being charming and working his way past all her defenses. The chemistry between these two was off the charts and it burned up the pages.

But Paisley has a secret, and when it came out, they lost all the ground they had made up. For as much as Donovan and his brothers picked at one another, they sure knew how to rally in a time of need. Cue the emotions that I wasn't expecting from this book. It was the catalyst he needed to let the pain of his past go. To move toward the future he always wanted with Paisley.
