M. Robinson has seriously outdone herself with this one. I just knew when I met Martinez in Crave Me there was so much more to him- I wasn't expecting all the layers that made up this complicated man. Holy wowza! Besides being delightfully dirty, and I do love me a dirty talker, Martinez also had a soft spot. No one knew that side of him except the one person he couldn't get out of his head or heart, Lexi. Oh how I admired that ballerina, with a hopeful heart and backbone of steel. She didn't back down, ever. She was always a fighter and wouldn't stop to get what she wanted. And what she wanted was Martinez- faults, demons and all. Behind the devilish persona the rest of the world saw, Martinez was just a man trying to do his best- living one day at a time because he didn't have a choice. When I say these two went through it all I mean they went through it all. Danger, happiness, injuries, death, half truths buried in lies...and those are just the tip of the iceberg when it came to all that they endured. In true M. Robinson fashion, El Diablo, covers a large span of time and is loaded with more angst than I knew what to do with. There were times I had to put down the kindle and walk away because my heart couldn't take it. Martinez and Lexi's story took me up, down, sideways and a few new directions I didn't know where out there. Their journey was full of twists and turns but it made the good times all that much sweeter. And that ending....just hold onto your hat because you will left wanting so much more!
