I never look in a mirror. I don’t need to. If I want to see what I look like, I just look at my twin. Daemon and I are identical in every way — from the outside. That’s where it ends. Born five minutes after me, my brother hates that he came second. It irks him that I breathed life into my lungs first. Ever since he’s been trying to steal everything I have. Everything I love. To own it first. Until the day I, Cobra Malone, become president of the Scorpio Stinger MC. I throw him out like the garbage he is. Rotten filth won’t be able to taunt me any longer. How wrong I am. Evil knows no barriers. It stops at nothing. It won’t rest until it gets what it wants. And he wants what is mine. MINE. He wants my woman. My air. My reason for living. I’ll die before I let him take Mia from me. Will this be a battle to the end? Till the last man is left standing? When two wills this strong clash, there will be chaos . . . and blood. Who will win? The God or The Monster? Review by Amanda Gods & Monsters is the perfect name for this epic tale of love, hate, family, betrayal and pain. I love this series created by the brilliant Jani Kay and I have been waiting with baited breath for Cobra and Mia's story. A warning to sensitive readers though that some of the content of the book does detail sexual assault. Two people could not be more different than Cobra and Daemon, although physically they are identical, that is where the similarities end. Cobra is a fair and just man, although he is tough as nails. Daemon can best be summarised as pure evil. He is constantly looking for ways to bring his brother down - he has no loyalty, but because he is a patched in brother he still has to be considered a brother. Daemon has cursed Cobra all their lives because of the fact that he is 5 minutes younger. He believes that everything that is wrong in his life can be pinpointed to the fact that he is the younger twin. He is on the brink of insanity and will do anything in his power to take everything that Cobra has, including his wife and child. Jani Kay provides readers with Cobra and Mia’s backstory, and I love the insight we get into how their love began. There was nothing easy about how their life started, but what developed between them also seemed destined by fate or kismet and there was never a chance that they would be torn apart by anyone, regardless of the warnings, fears, and repercussions that awaited them if they were caught. Cobra and Mia share a fierce love, one that is fiercely tested throughout the telling of this book, but the two share a bond that is unbreakable and impenetrable. Although they both endure things that rip them apart and shatter their lives, they hold on and fight even when the going gets tough. We are also shown the reason for Cobra and Ryder being tied so closely together and the development of the bond between Mia and Ryder. I loved how Jani Kay juxtapositioned the light and darkness of the story. On the one hand we have the hopelessness of the situation, but concurrently we have the strength of these bonds which give hope and light to the reader. Daemon is evil and depraved - he is the perfect villain, someone we all love to hate. It is clear there is no coming back from the darkness that inhibits his body and soul. He is pure evil and he wants to possess and destroy everything that his brother has. He performs the ultimate betrayal against his twin, his brother and his club - however the truth of this does not come to light until much later in the book. The truth will have you reeling and literally gasping for air. It will leave you devastated and broken. Mia and Cobra have had to endure so much throughout this book - beginning from when they first meet and right through to the end. The strength that Jani Kay writes into these characters is beyond amazing. We are taken through the emotions that flow through them on a journey that will leave your heart broken and aching. Never have two characters deserved their happy ending more than these two. This is a journey of righting wrongs and healing hurts and then finally trying to move forward. Gods & Monsters is the story that we have all been waiting for - it regales how the Scorpio Stingers began (at least under Cobra's leadership). It also is the beginning of Cobra and Mia's story. I loved the insight we gain into the ties that bind each of the brothers in this series and where and how they began. I loved this emotional and harrowing story that is so beautifully told by Jani Kay. It is a must read for anyone that loves the lifes and loves of the MC world. Scorpio Stingers are definitely one of my favorite band of brothers and I cannot wait to see what comes next. I am giving Gods & Monsters 4.5 sizzling stars. Meet Jani Kay Jani has been married for a long time to a special man, and her two children and their partners are the sunshine in her life. She is a voracious reader and would spend her last dollar on a book - always fascinated that for the mere price of a book, she can escape her world for a while and see through someone else's eyes. Besides reading, her favorite 'thing' is traveling - she has traveled the world, learning about the ways people live and has come to the realization that no matter where we live, we all ultimately want the same things. Her hobby - Scrapbooking - keeps her up till way after midnight and her usual subjects are her family and her travels. Ever since she can remember, Jani wanted to write stories about people, about their lives and loves. Relationships and Happiness - arguably the most difficult things to master in life and yet exactly what everyone ultimately desires (in her humble opinion).
