I don’t want you.
You mean nothing to me.
I never loved you.

I turned my words into swords.
And I cut her down.
Shoved the blade in and watched her fall.
I said I’d never hurt her, and I did.
Years later, I’m faced with all the little lies, the untruths, the false realities, the damage I inflicted, when all I wanted was to indulge my obsession.
Lavender Waters is the princess in the tower. Even her name is the thing fairy tales are made of.
I used to be the one who saved her.
Over and over again.
But I don’t want to save her anymore.
I just want to pretend the lies are still the truth.

5 Heart Review by Lorena

Helena Hunting has definitely started one ridiculously awesome series with all the younglings after the Pucked series.

Lavender and Kodiak were totally the most lovable couple I've ever read.  For them to to have such a special bond between them since they were just innocent little kids was beyond the best thing I've ever read.

Lavender has suffered from anxiety all her life but when she ends up having the scare of her life at a young age, her anxiety becomes extra and the only person who could calm her is Kody.  He's always known how to comfort her no matter what.  But as they start growing up and Kodiak is going to start high school, both their parents think their level of closeness is becoming toxic for each other and they need a break from one another.  Kodiak's parents move them away to another state and he loses touch with Lavender.

Fast forward when they're in college now and Lavender's twin River is the most overprotective towards Lavender out of all the brothers.  He's always wanted to be to Lavender what Kodiak was always to her but he's never been able to get that close to her, even though they are extremely close, but the closeness between Lavender and Kodiak was very different.  Kodiak has done things to make Lavender hate him even though deep down inside he's always, and I mean always loved her.

The question now is can Kodiak redeem himself and prove to Lavender that all he's ever done is love her unconditionally?  Can Lavender forgive and forget since Kodiak has always been the love of her life?

This is hands down the best book I've read by H. Hunting this year!
