Our lives were like a story. Predestined for us by the hands of some writer we didn’t know. We were given a beginning and end and some of us endured a climax like a roller coaster that shook and jerked us around, testing us in the process. In my story, I thought I knew what to expect. That was until a hot-shot hockey player with sweet words and an even kinder soul changed my course. It took everything in me not to fall for him, but unwanted emotions were developing, and warmth I swore I’d never expose myself to began to wreak havoc on my already failing heart. A bond was created. One that changed the trajectory of everything. I just wished we would have had more time…Nodus Tollens is book one in a duet. While book two will end in an HEA, book one will not 5 Heart Review by Lorena This book was seriously one of my saddest to date this year and I can guarantee you that I am putting this on my top reads shelf.
Ms. Rose weaved this story perfectly, she knew how to insert a knight in shining armor into a sad girl's life, and a persistent one at that. He would not take no for an answer and she was easy to fall for. She had natural beauty and had guys looking her way even though she never noticed ... until the guys made sure she noticed. Hayes and Mal were best friends and both were on the hockey team at Sutton U, and even though they thrived on the hockey team, there was something about the sport that wasn't appealing to Hayes anymore and when Wren came into his life, he definitely didn't want to continue the sport but would do so until the season ended. He had more than just Wren he wanted to focus on and it broke my heart for what he was going through, but he was definitely a gem. That man would go over and beyond for those he loved and he loved hard. Mal was more of a complicated soul. He came from an unloving background and if it weren't for Hayes and Hayes' family, who knows what would have happened to him. But he loves hockey and he wants to become a pro hockey player. Let's see if his life goal becomes a reality or if it gets altered somehow. Wren, beautiful Wren -- never wanted to deal with boys because she didn't think she was destined to be with one, she didn't think she could make one happy, but then Hayes came along and her world was turned upside down (in a good way). Everything was going great ... until it wasn't and that's where I'll leave it at! This book had my heart swelling, but then it broke into a million pieces. I don't know how I will recover from it until the second book comes out. Ms. Rose really shocked me, took me to a dark place with her ending, that's for sure!
