Singe by Aly Martinez

She was my nightmare. Every time I closed my eyes, I watched her fall into that inferno. Over and over, I failed to save her.

I hadn’t been able to reach her, and the guilt only burned hotter over time. Four years later, I was the unreachable one.

Heroes aren’t always saints. Sometimes, we’re nothing more than jaded sinners driven by sleepless nights and hearts full of darkness.

And then I met her. She was a dreamer who managed to soothe my scars and heal my wounds.

But, as the flames closed in around us, I feared I wasn’t the right man to save her. That is until I realized she was the one woman I’d burn the world down to protect.

4.5 Star Review by Ashley

Not gonna lie, I saw Aly Martinez and jumped right in without knowing what I would be getting myself into. Oh my stars- Singe was off the charts awesome. That prologue had me hooked and the more I read the more I wanted.

I absolutely LOVED the way Jude and Rhion were thrown back together by fate years after a tragedy changed both of their lives. There were certain places that just made my heart ache and gut clench. But the best thing about this book was how much they both grew. Individually and as a couple. It took a lot of time and tears but old wounds were sliced open and finally allowed to bleed dry. Guilt and pain and remorse had no place in the future they wanted together and watching them, especially Jude, embrace their scars got me right in the chest. However, it was the small moments- the hand holding, the "family" meals, the hands in the hair that proved just how far Rhion and Jude had came.

I would be remiss to leave out the rest of the cast of characters- the Guardian men in particular. These guys brought a lightness and humor to the story that was much needed. Their antics had me grinning from ear to ear. And when it came time to protect one of their own, they were all business.

Holy wow! I did not see that twist coming at all- nobody did- not even Jude. But I should've expected it- this is an Aly Martinez book, after all. Dangerous. Sexy. Emotional. Thrilling. Singe gave me everything I love in a book and has me anxiously awaiting more in this series.
