She was the one who got away…

Ten years ago, Brent Nichols let the love of his life slip through his fingers. It’s his greatest regret, especially since she’s all but disappeared. But when the gorgeous and captivating woman walks into his life unexpectedly, he’s determined to win her back. Whatever it takes, he won’t make the same mistake twice.

Easier said than done…

Shannon Paige has hardened her heart to the man she was once engaged to be married to. After the way he left, and after the hell she’s been through with her checkered family, there’s no way she’s letting him into her life again. The problem is, the second she sees him, he’s more handsome and charming than before. And she’s torn between wanting to fight with him and wanting to sleep with him -- Maybe both. Soon they fall into each other’s arms, consumed with a desire that burns through the years.

But if these two fiery lovers are going to have a real second chance at this kind of intense, passionate, bone-deep love, he’ll have to give her his whole heart, and she’ll have to give up all the secrets from her messy past.

And that messy past is about to spill over into her carefully constructed present…

SWEET SINFUL NIGHTS is book one in SINFUL NIGHTS, a four-book series. Each book will follow a new couple.

I absolutely love Lauren Blakely and will read anything she writes. So when I learned a bit ago there would be more of the Nichols men I started twiddling my thumbs in anticipation. I've been intrigued by Brent's character since I first met him back in the Seductive Nights series. While you don't have to read those books to get into this one, you totally should (two words...Clay Nichols). Sweet Sinful Nights pulled me in right from the prologue. Oh, those hard headed, fiery young versions of Brent and Shannon had me both happy and hurting. Shannon's excitement was palpable,  I could see her clutching the phone and bouncing. They were both so full of joy until one decision made in the heat of the moment changed their path.

Flash forward ten years and fate has somehow brought the two who never quite got over each other back together. Life and time have changed them but at the core, they're both the same kind, giving people they always were. I loved Brent's reaction upon seeing her; he was literally stunned stupid but quickly pulled himself out of his stupor. And Shannon didn't fare much better. She wasn't sure how to act or react to Brent but she put on a brave face and went about her business. But that would not be the end of things by a long shot.

I absolutely loved seeing Brent's softer side during his relentless pursuit of the one thing he wanted the most, Shannon. He was thoughtful, charming and considerate. They didn't rush. They let things unfold and progress at a natural and easy pace with lunches and dinners. There was, after all, lots of lost time to make up for. And did they ever make up for it. If there is one thing I love it is a dirty talker and Brent had that in spades but so did Shannon. She gave just as good as she took and the chemistry between them was explosive. There were a few twists along the way too. I wasn't expecting Shannon's big reveal and it made my heart ache for her all over again. But I love that while it could've torn them apart, as it would've in the past, here it only brought them together- stronger than ever before.

I have to say that Sweet Sinful Nights is a great start to what is sure to be another promising series from Lauren Blakely. This book had a good balance of humor and heartbreak, sweet and sexy and fear and hope. There is a fantastic cast of characters introduced that all played a part in the forging of this book. I enjoyed getting to catch up, briefly, with Clay and Julia. I found the relationship between Shannon and her brothers both realistic and heartwarming. They had been through a lot together and had each others backs no matter what. And that ending! a fantastic semi-cliffhanger that ties in perfectly to the next book.

About the Author

Lauren Blakely is an unabashed fan of clever jokes, toast, and good guys in novels.
