But that thought quickly flew by the wayside. And I have to mention the 'book club' ladies that were such a source of laughter amongst all the heavy feelings. I loved the way Zoe stood up, not only for herself but for Mira too. The way she put that broody Brit in his place. She was for sure the sunshine to his grumpy. But under all that brood and hurt was a heart that was scared and didn't know how to ask for what it wanted. Does anyone write a slow burn better than Karla Sorensen? I mean my goodness...the longing, the anticipation, I could feel it pulsing off the page. But man it was so worth the wait. Seeing them both lower their walls and let themselves feel and live fully was oh so sweet to witness. Zoe and Liam's quasi enemies to lovers romance was emotional and witty and had me hanging on every word.
