I didn’t know he was forbidden until after our one night stand…
I met Milo Corti during his self-destructive era, and he met me at the beginning of mine. That night when we crossed paths at a college party, we only had one goal: to feel good during our hell storms.
After we parted ways, I’d planned never to see him again. That was until I showed up for my first day as a student-teacher and found him sitting right there before me. Now I was forced to cross paths with the person meant to be nothing more than a fading memory.
The more time we spent together, the more drawn I felt toward him. When his world shifted for the worst, I couldn’t help but to lean in closer.
I’d always done the right thing. For the first time ever, I wanted to do something very wrong. I wanted to fall in love with the one person who was off-limits.
The problem with falling for something forbidden? Once you began to descend, you were destined to crash and burn.
4.5 Heart Review by Ashley
Will Birttainy Cherry ever write a book that doesn't rip me to shreds before sewing me back up? Case in point, The Coldest Winter. I mean wow...my heart wasn't ready for this ride but am I so glad I got to take it.
How could I not like Starlet? She was kind and thoughtful, smart and loyal. And holding onto the dream of making her mother happy, even if those dreams didn't mesh with hers. Which is exactly why her chance meeting with a handsome stranger threw her carefully constructed life off course.
Oh my goodness...Milo. The angry, lost boy with a heart that tried to bury his pain in drugs, booze and women. But it was one woman that sparked something in him. Made him feel...something. Too bad he would never see her again. Until fate threw her hand into the mix and brought them back together in the most unexpected way.
It was forbidden, naughty, downright delicious watching these two fall for each other. Seeing them shed the pain and step into something that wasn't so heavy. Something that felt a lot like the promise of hope. At least until life caught up with them.
My heart was breaking along with Starlet and Milo's as everything fell apart. Their journey was rough and rocky and showed love in its purest form. Messy. Unfiltered. Vulnerable. It took some sage advice, a lot of sacrifice, hard work and a little scheming for these two to get out of their own way. And that ending...absolutely perfect.
