In this modern-retelling of Beauty and the Beast, Savannah Carmichael, betrayed by an unreliable source, returns to her hometown of Danvers, Virginia with her once-promising journalism career in ruins. Given the opportunity to get back in the game by writing a patriotic human interest piece, Savannah turns her attention to the town hermit, Asher Lee, a wounded veteran who returned to Danvers eight years ago, and hasn’t been seen since.

After an IED explosion in Afghanistan took Asher’s hand and disfigured half of his face, he's lived a quiet life on the outskirts of Danvers where the locals respect his privacy…that is, until Savannah Carmichael comes calling in a borrowed sundress with a plate of homemade brownies. When Asher agrees to be interviewed by Savannah, he starts feeling things for the beautiful reporter that he hasn’t felt in years.

Misfits in small-town Danvers, Savannah and Asher create a bond right away, touching each other’s hearts in ways neither thought possible. When a terrible mistake threatens to drive them apart, they’ll have to decide if the love they found in one another’s arms is strong enough to fight for their hard-won happily ever after.

5 Star Review by Ashley

I'd heard good things about this one so I jumped in without even reading the synopsis and Katy Regnery, you now have a new fan for life. Oh my heart. This book. These characters. Their story. It got to me, touched me, made me laugh and cry. Let me find the beauty in the quiet moments sitting in the sun...

If there is one thing I love it is a strong leading lady and Savannah in The Vixen and the Vet has that in spades. Even though she has been taken advantage of in the past and is currently licking her wounds, she is determined to get back on her feet. When she is presented with the opportunity to do just that, she jumps at the chance. She has a plan and sets in into motion but what she wasn't planning on was Asher Lee. Oh my super swoon. Asher was such a strong character- yet so wonderful in his brokenness. His humanness. His life has been one tragedy on top of another but somehow he has found the will to survive- but not really live. Until Savannah comes knocking at his door with her brownies and beauty.

I liked that it wasn't insta-love or even insta-lust between these two. It was subtle- the change from strangers to friends to lovers. It was the small things, the eye contact, the hand holding and the sharing of their own life stories that bonded them. And a meddling old woman with the best of intentions. She pushed Asher outside of the world he had built for himself and into the real one. And
he made Savannah take a look at herself and her dreams and realize that sometimes they can and do change.

I knew something was coming that would cause trouble for them but I didn't think it would be what it was. My heart just ached for them- they had come so far both individually and together that all I wanted for them was happiness. Thankfully, albeit painfully, Asher and Savannah found ways to move forward. But never on- because you don't get over the love of your life- ever. Katy Regnery delivered on every front with this book. Sweetness- check. Humor- check. Sexiness (oh the sexiness)- check. Heart- double check. I absolutely loved how Savannah channeled her passion into purpose. That ending had me crying like a baby. My heart was so full of joy for these two outcasts who found their own version of beauty in their love.

In May 2016, Katy’s boxed set, The Winslow Brothers Boxed Set, Books #1-4, became a New York Times bestseller.

Katy lives in the relative wilds of northern Fairfield County, Connecticut, where her writing room looks out at the woods, and her husband, two young children, two dogs, and one Blue Tonkinese kitten create just enough cheerful chaos to remind her that the very best love stories begin at home.
