Michael Matthews has been in love with Katherine Moore since the second grade. In Michaels mind there is absolutely nothing that will ever be able to keep the two of them apart. The night Michael is set to propose to Katherine the evening is interrupted by an unexpected tragedy that tears the two of them apart for good. Three years have passed since that fateful night when Katherine, now known as Kate meets Daniel. After an awkward start sparks fly between them. Daniel and Kate fall hard and fast into the most passionate and intense love affair of their lives. In three years a lot can change, Michael knows he made the biggest mistake of his life when he left Katherine and he will do anything to get her back. Asking his best friend Daniel for help is his first step in righting the wrongs he made so many years ago. Unfortunately, neither of them realizes that Michaels long lost love Katherine is Daniel’s true love Kate. While attending the engagement party of a mutual friend, all of their paths collide. How is Kate supposed to choose between the two men that mean the most to her in the world? Kate has to push past her heartache and put some serious thought into what comes next. One wrong choice and not only could she lose them both but Daniel and Michael may never recover their friendship. We only talked a few days ago about the possibility of me putting myself out there again and he’s presumptuous enough to think he can fix me up on my first date in ages? Of course he is; he’s Connor fucking Houston. As pissed off as I am, I have to admit a bit of morbid curiosity as to who it might be. Over the past year, I have heard all about his best friends Daniel, Jake, Mike, and April. I have yet to meet any of them in person, although I sort of feel like I already know them from Connor’s stories. Connor Houston is HOT! Scott Eastwood hot. Melt in your mouth hot. ‘Yes, you can fuck me right here, right now, in this room full of people just because you looked at me with come fuck me eyes and I don’t even know your name’ kind of hot. I can only begin to imagine what his friends look like. Jess glares at me and I know I overstepped—she’s upset. “Kate, I’m going to try and ignore the fact that you basically just called me superficial because you and I both know that nothing could be further from the truth. I met the guy two seconds ago and he is HOT, and you, my friend, need to get laid. You haven’t had a relationship in over three years. I want to see you happy. I want to go on double dates. I want to swap sex stories with someone who is actually getting some, but most of all, I want to see that sparkle that has been missing from your gorgeous eyes for the last three years. I know how broken you’ve been, and you have every right to grieve your losses, but it’s time to move on. My god, Katie Grace, you met the man all of ten minutes ago and have already decided he’s a jerk. Maybe he’s nervous. If I were you, I would give it an open mind and see where it goes. If it’s awful, well, you wasted a night. But if he’s great? God, Kate, if he’s great maybe you can be happy again. Besides, I don’t think Connor would set you up with a jerk. He’s way too over protective of you to put you in that kind of situation. When they come back, I’m going to ask Connor to show me around and you need to play nice with Daniel, if for no other reason than to do me a favor. Can you please do that for me?” His lips are almost brushing against mine, so close I can feel his breath caress my lips… it’s intoxicating. Daniel places one hand on the back of my head, pulling me forward to close the small gap between us as his perfect lips meet mine for a gentle, yet utterly heart-stopping kiss. This is the first kiss fairytales are spun from. My heartbeat is still rapid, my pulse is still racing, and I can’t for the life of me figure out why I have waited so long to find him. This man was obviously made just for me. Daniel stops kissing me, resting his forehead against mine. I reach up and run my fingers through his hair, and I feel him suck in his breath as he slowly he moves his lips to mine. Gently kissing me, he parts my lips with his tongue, making his way into my mouth. When his tongue caresses mine I feel butterflies in my stomach. What the hell? The feeling is exceptional; it’s unlike anything I’ve ever felt before. I’m lost in it and to it. FACEBOOK / GOODREADS / TWITTER / WEBSITE / PINTEREST I'm a wife, a mom and a dog lover. I'm also a taxi, problem fixer, extreme multi-tasker and my kids biggest fan in anything that they do. I love to write, so when my career suddenly derailed I turned back to my love of writing. I married my high school sweetheart... how cool is that? Margaritas and sarcasm make me happy. Chocolate makes that happiness grow exponentially. People who make me laugh are my favorite kind of people. I believe Karma is a bitch who slaps back hard and that mean people suck. I'm California born and raised, I love the beach but hate the sand. Breaking Kate is my first novel and is part of The Acceptance Series. Hosted by: Author Interview with D. Kelly You said you were tired of the normal interview questions. Well, I hope to spice it up for you. Brittany: What’s the first thing you wash in the shower? Dee: My hair Brittany: What do you eat for breakfast? Dee: Coffee and whatever I’m in the mood for but always coffee. Brittany: How often do you and your hubby get it on? Okay, you don’t have to answer that one… unless you want to. Dee: LOL how about more than some and less than others? Vague enough for you? Let’s just say we have a healthy sex life ;) Brittany: Any kids? Feel free to brag about them here. Dee: 2 kids both boys both amazing! Both of them are athletic so we’re always busy. My oldest is in college and my youngest is in high school. Brittany: What’s your shoe of choice? Dee: Something comfortable usually tennis shoes. I know not very attractive but I’m a super big clutz and heels would kill me. Brittany: Favorite part of a man? Dee: Body part – arms but overall personality. If he doesn’t have a good personality what’s the point? I’m sarcastic as hell so he has to keep up with me and not be offended easily. Brittany: Who’s your favorite? Mike or Daniel? Dee: Both? Seriously I do love them both because they both have so much to give. I know you don’t see it now but just wait until Catching Kate…*sigh* I’m just as torn as you guys are. Just because I wrote it doesn’t mean anything. The muse is in control of this show. What she says goes. Brittany: Am I funny? Dee: Hilarious Brittany: Ay, yo gurl. What’s your sign? Dee: Scorpio and I fit it to a T Brittany: What was your major in college? Assuming you went. If not, what did you want to be when you were growing up? Dee: I wanted to be an entertainment or a defense attorney growing up. Life had different plans. I went to school for a hot second I was an English major (surprise) but it didn’t last long. Okay, now for some normal questions, I guess. I mean, I signed up to promote you and your book. I guess I have to do it at some point. Brittany: Give yourself a quick shameless plug on why people should read Breaking Kate. Dee: I’m not good at shameless promotion but I will say that my readers tell me it’s uniquely written, almost backwards in a sense. They also tend to love the character development. Brittany: Who’s your favorite character in Breaking Kate? Dee: Connor Houston. He’s funny and sarcastic. He also seems to be able to keep up with everything that is going on which is important. Brittany: Do you have a writing playlist? If so, who can we find on it? Dee: No not really I just turn on Spotify and listen to whatever I’m in the mood for. Pretty soon I will have an account set up with all the playlists in Spotify for the books so keep an eye on my website for that. www.dkellyauthor.com Brittany: What will you stop writing for? Dee: Sex, coffee, chocolate, football. LOL in all seriousness I guess when the ideas stop flowing. If I start to hate it or feel like I’m just not writing anything worth reading I’ll stop. Brittany: Who’s your biggest supporter through this process? Dee: My husband he has an unbelievable amount of faith in me. I’m so blessed. Brittany: Do you write by hand? Or on the laptop? Dee: Both. Mostly laptop but then I print the entire manuscript and do all hand written edits then type it all out again. It just helps to see it on paper. Brittany: Do you have an inspiration for your characters? Dee: No not really. Jake and April were inspired by my husband and I in some ways but they aren’t a huge part of this book. They will however be getting their own novella in Dec. of 2015 if all goes according to plan. Brittany's Review of Breaking Kate I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review, yeah, blah blah blah. Yeah, I don’t normally add those to my reviews, but there’s a story to this one. I received an email with multiple blog tour sign ups, and I was reading the synopsis for some of them. I wasn’t actually going to sign up for this one, but as I laid in bed that night trying to fall asleep, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. So, I was like “This must mean something.” I signed up and now that I’ve read it… it was like the spirit of Dee Kelly telling me to read her book. Katherine Moore thought she had found love in Michael Matthews, her best friend since second grade. They had their future all planned out, they were going to go to college together, graduate and get married. That all changed in an instant when Michael’s father is killed and everyone turns the blame on Katherine and her father. Four years later, Katherine is now known as Kate, is a double major at UCLA, and has three friends, if you count Marc. When her best friend Jess finally convinces her to go out and meet a guy, she will forever be grateful, for she has just met that man of her dreams. Daniel McCormick is still suffering from the effects of a relationship that ended six months ago. His best friend Connor convinces him to go out and meet a girl at a party he’s hosting. Now Daniel owes Connor, because he just met the woman of his dreams. It’s a love at first sight type of relationship, and it’s moving fast. They are totally in love with each other and aren’t expecting the ball to drop two weeks into their relationship. I’m still reeling from the ending of this book! It ends of a semi-cliffhanger, nothing too bad, so it’s up to you whether or not you’re going to read it. But I definitely recommend this book, and the whole series should hopefully be out by the end of the year. Not only is this book full of sweetness, this book has some pretty hot sex scenes. Yeah, I’d probably put this not only in the contemporary romance genre, but the erotica section of Amazon as well. I was quite surprised by the steam factor; I expected sweet, lovey-dovey sex. What I got was some panty-melting, hot eroticism. This book kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. From the synopsis, I knew what was going to happen, but I just didn’t know when it’d strike. It happened abruptly, which is good. I didn’t have time to prepare. Well, I did. I have a habit of skimming a page before I read. I know, I know. I need to stop that. Dee Kelly gets five stars from me, with a promise that I will snag a paperback at some point in my life. I will also meet her, get her autograph, and a picture. Oh, and just so you know, I’m #TeamDaniel4Ever. Dee Kelly, this was a fantastic novel. I am waiting ever so impatiently for more work from you. You have earned my undying support and promises of pimping you out on my blog. Congratulations! I loved every minute of it.
