“You say I’ll never own you. If I win—you willingly give me that right. You sign not only the debt agreement, but another—one that makes me your master until your last breath is taken. You do that, and I’ll give you this.” Nila Weaver’s family is indebted. Stolen, taken, and bound not by monsters but by an agreement written over six hundred years ago, she has no way out. She belongs to Jethro as much as she denies it. Jethro Hawk’s patience is running out. His inheritance gift tests, challenges, and surprises him—and not in good ways. He hasn’t leashed her but he thinks he might’ve found a way to bind her forever. Debts are mounting. Payment waiting. Review by BrittanyWARNING this review contains spoilers from book one, Debt Inheritance. So, quick refresher of book one. Nila Weaver, famous fashion designer, is given away by her father to this man, Jethro Hawk. Turns out that Jethro Hawk is “entitled” to Miss Weaver because of a centuries old debt. He takes her to Hawksridge, his family’s estate and basically treats her like poop. At the very end we are left with Nila running for a chance for freedom. But does Jethro catch her or does she make it to the boundary? Now that your memory has been refreshed, let’s talk about book two, First Debt. Jethro eventually catches up to Nila, as you can probably assume. Well, he takes her back to Hawksridge and she’s left all alone with her phone in that hideous room with stuffed birds lining the walls. She’s talking to her brother and of course, Kite007, a nameless guy she’s been flirting with over text message. Those two people are her only hope. She talks with them to relieve her stress, but Jethro soon takes that phone and she’s left with just him, and his brother Kestrel. Jethro is hot and cold and Nila just cannot figure him out. One minute she thinks that he likes her and that he doesn’t want anything to do with this stupid debt, and the next he hates her. Nila is confused about how she feels about all of this. She believes her plan to seduce Jethro might work but if he has feelings for her, does that negate it all? I love Pepper Winters. I love her books. She is a very creative and imaginative author. I think the story line for the Indebted series is genius! She’s got a great series on her hands. I love the way the story progresses too. It’s not too fast and not too slow. It’s never boring and you’re always on your toes. I love that the chapters alternate between Nila’s and Jethro’s points of view. Pepper writes on the darker side of erotica, so if you aren’t a big fan of that, then this isn’t for you. Though, this isn’t as dark as she is capable of. It’s perfectly amazing. Five stars Pepper, and thanks for leaving me with a cliffhanger. I still love you though. Video Review by BrittanyExcerpt from First DebtMy stomach churned with the promise. I will make him love me. My conviction wasn’t flimsy or half-hearted. And then I’ll destroy him. Excerpt 2 from First DebtA small gasp fell from my lips as his fingers kissed the paper-thin skin. His eyes held me hostage. The golden brown was now a swirling bronze, raging with the same demanding hunger I knew reflected in mine. “This sort of reminds me of the forest,” I whispered. “The trees around us—no one else.” My words fell like petals, waiting for Jethro to crush them beneath his glossy shoe. But…he didn’t. Tracing one hand from my wrist, along the inside of my arm, and right to my throat, he fisted my ponytail. With intensity that stripped my soul to the very essence of who I was, he pulled my head back slowly, sensually, full of sexual power. His eyes dropped to my mouth. “I’ll let you in on a little secret, Ms. Weaver.” I panted, my neck straining against his hold, but I made no move to break the poignant awareness. “You won that night, but I lied when I said it pissed me off.” His mouth dropped, his tongue licked my bottom lip with the barest of grazes. Book 1-Debt Inheritance“I own you. I have the piece of paper to prove it. It’s undeniable and unbreakable. You belong to me until you’ve paid off your debts.” Nila Weaver’s family is indebted. Her life is his until she’s paid off a debt that’s centuries old. He can do what he likes with her—nothing is out of bounds—she has to obey. There are no rules. Only payments.
