I have to say that I wasn't quite sure what to expect going into this book. I've read some of A.D. Justice's other titles and really enjoyed them so to read something this light from her was a nice change of pace.
Jagger York is the lead singer of a rising band and can have whoever he wants whenever he wants them. However, Jagger can't deny his attraction to Mali. Too bad for him she's a "good girl". And if there is one thing, besides relationships, that Jagger York doesn't do, its good girls. I really liked Mail. She was kind and giving yet willing to do whatever it took to follow her dreams. I admired her grit and determination. When things get a little out of hand one night she decides she wants to learn to let loose, and who better to help her than one Jagger York. Her plan is simple, one summer, no attachments when its over, they both just get to walk away. Jagger works her plan to his advantage by putting his own stipulation on their agreement. From there things really take off. While there is an ease to their relationship there was also a feverish need to get in everything they could in the time they had. As Mali and Jagger spend time together, they both develop deeper feelings. Lines get blurred but before they can get crossed, one of them walks away. Too bad that the other doesn't accept it at that and sets about to remedy the situation. However, it does take some wisdom from Jagger's father to get him to see the light. I loved his seeing him with his family. It brought out a lighter side to him that not many people saw. And Mali brought out the sweet and tender side of him that even less people saw. Overall, Just One Summer is a sweet and easy read. There were a few moments that made me full out belly laugh and even more that made me swoon. Mali and Jagger are the perfect balance to one another. Quiet to exuberant, reserved to almost over confident but both stubborn and determined. I liked the dual POV and the supporting characters. They added to the drama and the humor of this fun summer book.
