Bucket List

Awhile back I was thinking about all the places I wanted to see and all the adventures I wanted to take. As I thought about that, and made a bucket list, I played the, ‘what if’ game, and before I knew it, the Dossier Series was born. The series is based on my bucket list and a pact I made with a friend when we graduated university, many years ago.

In the Dossier series a group of friends put their names in a hat on New Years Eve. Then they drew, keeping the name they pulled a secret, and on the month of that persons 25th birthday, they’d send them a dossier for an epic vacation. (In the books, however, epic and sex can be interchanged)

The pact I made with my friend was a little different, of course. We decided that when we turned a certain age…30…cough…cough, we’d go on a Caribbean vacation together. Well, I JUST returned home. We went to Mexico and in my third Dossier book, Under Pressure, I set the story in Mexico. What bucket list adventure did I want to do there, you ask. Oh, nothing scary, just a little cage diving with sharks! I seriously couldn’t convince my friend, her husband or my husband to do it with me. I met a group of adventurous people but alas, still couldn’t convince anyone to climb into a cage with me and watch sharks try to eat their way though. Wimps! I ended up not doing the adventure this time…but there’s always a next time.

Another adventure I wanted to take was to hike Spookdraai Mountain. Apparently it’s supposed to be haunted with discontented souls who now wander up and down the coastline. Again, no one thought that sounded fun!

I did, however, do some sailing, parasailing (and I’m afraid of heights) visited some gorgeous cenotes, and drank well with others! HA! We did an ATV jungle tour in Playa De Carmen, got to meet the locals, and give little gifts to the children. The buggy riding was a blast! I even held an iguana. I was so brave! We had great Mexican meals and I saw some beautiful sunrises!

Some of the other things on my bucket list you will find in the other books in the series, and those things range from visiting a vineyard in Italy (Private Reserve) cockle fishing in Antiqua (Big Catch) visiting a castle in England (Improper Proposal) A trip to a London night club (House Rules) A Brazilian adventure (Foreign Affairs) and I am still determined to go shark diving in Mexico (Under Pressure)
