From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward, comes a new standalone, second-chance story of forbidden loveâ¦
Itâs natural to want the one you canât have. And for as long as I could remember, Iâd secretly wanted my brotherâs best friend, Jace.
He was six years older and always treated me like the sister he never had.
Fast forward a decade.
We were all in our twenties now. Jace had moved in with my brother, Nathan, and me to help us make ends meet after our parents died.
It was just the three of usâan odd family dynamic.
Living under our roof, Jace was as bossy and protective as ever.
But he certainly didnât look at me like a sister anymore. That was what made things so complicated.
I was pretty much hot and bothered twenty-four-seven.
And he was torn.
The signs were subtle, at first. Like on movie night, Iâd casually rest my leg against his, and he wouldnât exactly shift away.
Still, I assumed he would neverâ¦go there.
Nathan would kill us.
The knowledge of that wasnât enough to stop the inevitable, though.
Eventually our slow burn exploded.
But more than the physical attraction, weâd developed a strong connection.
We just couldnât get caught, right?
That sounded simple.
Until it wasnât.
This is a story of forbidden love, broken trust, and an unexpected second chance.

4 Heart Review by Lorena
I wish I could squeeze both Jace and Farrah right now because as much as "he" frustrated me at times, I knew that he had a reason to stay away from Farrah. He didn't want to ruin his friendship with her brother since they were like brothers and he considered Farrah like a little sister at one point as well. But those times are far gone. He now sees Farrah in a whole different light. She's no longer a naive little girl, she's all woman now, and for as much as he's trying to stay away from her he just can't seem to find himself pulling away. Farrah has had a crush on Jace since she was a pre-teen and when Jace had left and moved to another state, her crush pretty much wained for him, until he returns she finds herself having those feelings for him all over again, but now they are adults. They decide to keep their rendezvous a secret, away from prying eyes and especially from Nathan, Farrah's brother because he definitely would not approve of them being together. But when sh*t hits the fan and Jace finds himself in a tough situation. He doesn't know whether to choose his best friend or his girl. The whole aspect of the forbidden love is what attracted me to this book as well as the author who wrote it. I absolutely LOVE Ms. Ward and I tend to gravitate towards everything she writes. The Crush didn't only have a hot cover but the story was amazing as well. I loved the characters and I especially adored Farrah for showing her true emotions and her amazing love for this boy that she's loved practically her whole life.
