Wicked Fall (The Wicked Horse Series Book #1) Sawyer Bennett Release Date: July 28, 2015 Synopsis: Never in your wildest dreams could you begin to imagine all the filthy and depraved things that go on inside The Wicked Horse. Step inside and Woolf Jennings will make every one of your dirty fantasies come true. He’s covered in a facade of deception. An enticing blend of multi-millionaire and hot-as-hell Wyoming rancher, those that think they know Woolf Jennings admire his abilities to preside as CEO of his family’s cattle and oil empire. But only a privileged few truly understand what fuels the glitter of depravity in those gorgeous blue eyes. Only a few know he’s opened up a sinfully erotic and private sex club named The Wicked Horse right at the base of the beautiful Teton Mountain range. Sweet Callie Hayes has returned home to Wyoming and is looking forward to starting her life over again. After a night of impetuosity, she’s managed to put herself right in Woolf’s line of sight… the man who she foolishly offered up her virginity to years ago and was flatly turned down. Now Woolf is seeing that Callie is all grown up and has a kinky side to her that leaves him as confused as it does turned on. Worse yet, both Callie’s dirty desires and sweet heart are getting under his skin, and making Woolf question everything he’s ever believed about himself. This is the first book I've read by Sawyer Bennett (though I do have most of her titles waiting on my kindle). But am I ever glad I did because I really liked Wicked Fall. While there are hints of BDSM in this story, it isn't all about the kink and actually has some very sweet and tender moments throughout.
I liked how different yet similar the main characters Callie and Woolf were. She is soft and gentle to his hard and demanding. While they've known each other for years and years, Callie with a major crush on Woolf, nothing more than a kiss had ever transpired between them. I really liked the progression of their relationship from friends to lovers. The chemistry was always there and palpable but more than that, they "got" each other. Woolf wants the best of both worlds, his dream of running The Wicked Horse and Callie. However, Woolf is wary that Callie can fit into his more adventurous lifestyle especially with her reaction to the scene that sent her back home to Wyoming. But was he ever in for a shock when she kept begging him to show her the ropes. He was stunned but found a way to make it work that would protect her at the same time. That was one of the things I liked most about Woolf. While he was all alpha male, he had a softer side that only Callie brought out in him. And that scene in the cabin...whew was it HOT! But try as they might, life and circumstance get in the way and force the couple who had just found their stride apart. While I completely understood Callie's plight, family or fun, it didn't make me agree with how she handled the situation. But I liked Woolf's persistence. He was relentless in his pursuit to get Callie back. And his grand gesture at the end proved just how much he wanted her in his life. Overall, Wicked Fall was a good set up for what is sure to be a sizzling hot series. Sawyer Bennett really delivered on all fronts here. There was drama, humor and enough sweetness to balance the steaminess. I really liked the cast of secondary characters, especially Bridger. That man has layers under his layers and I can't wait to learn more about him as the series continues.
