Sometimes I need an escape from the demands, the puck bunnies, and the notoriety that come with being an NHL team captain. I just want to be a normal guy for a few weeks. So when I leave Chicago for some peace and quiet, the last thing I expect is for a gorgeous woman to literally fall into my lap on a flight to Alaska. Even better, she has absolutely no idea who I am.

Lainey is the perfect escape from my life. My plan for seclusion becomes a monthlong sex fest punctuated with domestic bliss. But it ends just as abruptly as it began. When I’m called away on a family emergency, I realize too late that I have no way to contact Lainey.

A year later, a chance encounter throws Lainey and me together again. But I still have a lie hanging over my head, and Lainey’s keeping secrets of her own. With more than lust at stake, the truth may be our game changer.

4 Heart Review by Ashley

Hahahahaha yes! I am still smiling after finishing A Lie for a Lie. Helena Hunting has struck rom-com gold once again with Lainey and RJ's story.

A chance meeting between two very different people soon became the best few weeks of both of their lives. I loved the easy banter. How they could just be themselves without the pressure they normally found themselves under pressing down on them. They thought it would be a fling. Neither Lainey or RJ planned on catching feelings but they did. But time was always against them. And when theirs ran out, the happy bubble they had been living in burst.

Flash forward a year...call it destiny, kismet, fate, whatever you will but they found themselves in the same place at the same time again. It was a flood of emotions on both sides. And fear. Their secrets were soon to be revealed and nothing would be the same....

I loved seeing RJ and Lainey fall in love all over again with the people they were outside of their Alaskan bubble. It didn't hurt that RJ had a lot of help. Cue the Pucked Series crew! I really enjoyed seeing them all again. Especially when they all rallied around RJ to help him win his woman back.

RJ and Lainey's second-chance romance was as sweet as it was sexy. Full of family and humor, friendship and hockey, A Lie for a Lie kept me entertained from start to finish. AND that ending!! SWOON city. RJ's final play to prove his devotion to Lainey made my heart skip a beat. I can't wait to see where Helena Hunting takes this series next.
