Three little words are all it takes to rip his world apart. Lost in his own affliction, Sy has been living in a darkness that he doesn't ever want to let go of.

Until she arrives and shines her light so bright that nothing else mattered.

She was only in it for the chase, for the thrill of capturing the unattainable.
But what happens when her world shatters around her, spiraling her into the darkness beside him?

Can his affliction be her resurrection?
Or will two lost souls living in the depths of deception let it destroy them?

This is book number 2 in the Knights Rebels MC series.  This is Sy's story.  Let this be a warning to all readers - this story will not only gut you with all of it's emotional and gut wrenching heartaches, but will also leave you panting from all of the hotness.

Sy is struggling with all life has thrown his way, he is not interested in any kind of long term relationship, he is more like a hit it and quit it kind of guy.  We get an insight into why this is early on in the book, and I can guarantee you, the reason will leave you absolutely reeling.  It will also break your heart.

Holly meets Sy when Kadence (her bff and Nix's lady love) decides to go to his tattoo parlor after a night of clubbing.  Holly is enthralled with the dark and twisty man behind the tattoo gun.  Sy won't even give Holly the time of day.  In an attempt to annoy Sy, she gives him the nickname Sunshine - much to Sy's disgust.

What ensues is a deluge of hot sex and then INTENSE drama.  We see these two struggle through probably some of the hardest lessons life can ever throw your way.  We watch Holly go from this spitfire who lives each and every moment to a girl who struggles with panic attacks and who fakes her way through life.  Watching Sy become her touchstone and seeing him become the person he needs to be to lift her up is really one of the things I love most about this book.

The characters are developed in such a way that you feel like you know them inside and out.  They are completely 3 dimensional and they remind you of people that you know.  This is what I love about River Savage's books.  They draw you in and suck you up.  They are real, vulnerable and most of all they just want to love and be loved.

This book is written in dual perspective and it also is written going between the past and present.  I loved the insight into Sy's past - it explains so much of his present.  The story flows seamlessly and at no point is it ever confusing.

I am giving Afflicition 4.5 stars - I just loved it!  I love Sy's hardness and grumpiness and I love how he is willing to bend and break for Holly.  This is definitely one of my top MC reads for the year.  Bring on Jesse's story.
