Seventeen-year-old VERONICA SMITH has it all: a loving family, a funky car named Jezebel, and a plan to go to college after graduation. On the first day of senior year, she meets DIMITRI GLENN--a mysterious transfer student with gray eyes and a mischievous smile who seems determined to win her heart. But there's something odd about Dimitri, leading Veronica to wonder if there's more to him than meets the eye. Before long, she finds herself in a whirlwind romance that seems too good to be true--until a series of devastating events leaves her questioning everything. It's not until she chooses to think with her heart instead of her mind that she can rise from the ashes to learn the truth of their connection.

Veronica, or Ronnie, is a 17 year old, just starting her senior year of high school when she meets Dimitri. He is unlike any other guy she has ever met, he makes her feel things for the first time in her life.  He makes her want to be more than friends with a boy for the first time possibly ever.  Dimitri is everything Ronnie could possibly ever want in her life - wrapped up in a sinfully sexy package.  As the story progresses, we find that things aren't as they appear to be.  Both Ronnie and Dimitri are dreaming of one another.  Ronnie dreams of the two of them together in other lifetimes.

That is when the fun starts, as you try to determine what could be the reason for all these strange events happening. I must admit that this is definitely part of the allure of the book.  I have never read anything quite like this, and I loved that there is something like this out there - that will leave you guessing at just about every turn.

Ronnie and Dimitri grow closer, and she soon notices that she is no longer surrounded by her usual hub of friends.  This leads to her panicking and deciding that her and Dimitri will be better off as friends.  Dimitri, although devastated, accepts this and although not initially too involved in her life, we watch the two of them becoming close once again.

The rest of the book focuses on their life and what they achieve together, and is beautifully written.  As seems to be the norm with Kim Holden's writing, this book is going to not only break your heart, but also smash it into 1 million pieces and it will leave you reeling.

I am giving this book 4 stars - it is completely unique to anything else you have read recently and is most certainly a page turner.

I loved both lead characters, but do wish that Ronnie had a bit more of a backbone.  I also enjoyed that Dimitri was an artist and that he was putting out all these amazing pieces.  I also loved the relationship between him and the secondary characters - his mom, Sebastian and Ronnie's parents.

I cannot wait to see what Kim Holden does next.

Meet Kim Holden

Picture
Kim Holden lives in the greatest city in the world: Denver, Colorado. Some of my favorite things: reading, writing, the two coolest guys on the planet (my husband and son), my bicycle, Facebook, iced coffee, and music. I also love dreaming. And speaking of dreaming, I have a bit of advice for anyone reading this ... follow your dreams. It's never too late. Get started today ... heck get started RIGHT NOW! Make your dreams reality.
I love to hear from fellow readers. Love. It. Please come find me. We'll hang out. It'll be fun:
