I might not understand their war, but I do understand one thing: no matter who wins, I lose. 3.5 Heart Review by Ashley I was pumped to dive into Assassin's Mark after finishing the prequel of this series. But I don't exactly know how I feel about this one. Yes, it had the drama and danger and intensity as the first book but I found myself wanting more. I liked the different sides of Levi that I got to witness. The protector. The worrier. The marksman. The lover. The brother. It was really the slower, quieter moments between him and Abby that showed how complex of a man he was. He was more than his job. More than he saw himself as. Luckily Abby saw it and was going to set about to prove it to him. Whether he liked it or not. I had a few issues with Abby. Yes, she had lived a sheltered life, but her thought process and actions at times (more than a handful) were quite juvenile. However, I liked how much she grew from the start of this one to the end. Her eyes were opened to the reality of what she was to her father, her only family. And the stand she took to try and set things straight showed a boldness that she didn't even know she possessed. With danger and steam and family and scheming, Assassin's Mark was pretty addictive. Ella Sheridan is onto the start of something good with this series, I just think it needs a little more polishing up. And while Levi and Abby's story will be continuing (though this isn't a cliffy), I still wanted a little more from the ending.
