She’s on a mission, but so is he…

When a reporter seeks access outside the wire, Axle Landry isn’t happy when he’s pulled from his SEAL team and assigned to the babysitting op. Discovering those Bang Shift guys are behind it has him planning his payback. That’ll have to wait until this mess is over. He has his orders. Keep her safe, and keep his mouth shut. Should be easy enough. But the longer this smart, beautiful woman is in danger, the harder it is for him to remain objective. She poses risks…to his career, his life, and his heart.

Caitlin Cooper never should’ve said anything to her friends about going on this assignment. She knows the hazards of reporting in a war zone and doesn’t need some brooding brute bossing her around. But that’s exactly what she got. Axle is constantly grumpy, and worse—he’s ridiculously gorgeous. This assignment would be a lot easier without him watching her every move. Falling in love with him, though, makes everything a lot more complicated.

Explosive secrets, shattered dreams, broken hearts…small town connections aren’t always a good thing.

3 Heart Review by Ashley

Give me a man in uniform any day of the week. Throw some danger into the mix and I am here for it. So when I saw Mandy Harbin had a military hero, I was ready to make Axle my first tile from her.

I won't lie, it took me a bit to get into this. I didn't connect with Caitlin or Axle right away. They were both stubborn and strong willed. I admired Caitlin's tenacity to get her story. How she threw herself into the mix and didn't shy away from the possible danger. Or Axle and his broodiness. Whew! That man took surly to a whole new level.

For as much as Axle pushed, Caitlin pushed back even harder. She had a job to do and she wasn't going to let his orders stand in her way. It didn't take long for all the simmering tension to bubble over. But danger was never far in the war zone. And all it took was one second for everything to change. What a whirlwind! My heart was pumping reading those tense scenes. I knew it was coming, and I still wasn't ready.

I feel like there was too much time spent giving me every detail of Caitlin time in the trenches. Yes, those things were important but I wanted more of that confrontation when they saw each other again. With everything that was unfinished between them it would've been more than the three minute conversation that they had. That being said, I still enjoyed the good mix of danger, steam and bravery in Axle.
