For Laura Turner, helping others had been her way of coping and forgetting a past so painful, she had to hide it from the ones she loved or risk going insane. Helping her best friend Serena Singleton start a new life free from a dark past, made her feel she was helping herself move forward.

Laura, whose family ran in the same circle as billionaire composer Sebastian Sorensen and lived a life many would envy, had secrets of her own, and it had been years since she’d lived free of the same addiction that consumed her friend Serena.

When Laura moved to Los Angeles to work at a law firm who hired her to start even without her passing the bar, she meets the mysterious and sexy Peter Townshend, whose irresistible charm and take charge personality brings out a part of her she had hidden for years.

Hidden behind a wall of secrets and giving her his orders, she only has his seductive voice to guide her to do his bidding. He knows all her buttons. He knows all about her.

He knows she’s been a bad girl.

He knows good girls do bad things sometimes…even things that are…

Barely Legal.

New Adult Contemporary Romance Suspense Serial that will be 6 books.

This series is a separate series from The Protege Series, but is related.

Laura Turner has just finished law school. After years of studying and having no social life, or sleep for that matter, she’s finally ready to put her skills to work. Except there’s one thing that’s stopping her. There was an accident, I believe, where she was at the wrong place at the wrong time, and now when the story gets out, the press is going to frame her as a killer. A sex-crazed, Domme who killed her submissive.

After receiving a cryptic text message from someone who goes by “P”, she drives out to Las Angeles only to find herself in an empty office with a sexy as sin voice demanding her to go to the apartment across the street. The voice identifies himself as Peter Townshend; that’s all the information she gets.

Once in the apartment, she finds herself surrounded in luxury. Clothes made specifically for her, lush carpets and a beautiful bedroom. Her neighbor is even perfect; she’s nice and Laura feels an instant connection to her.

This short novella is one full of trickery, deceit, and twists and turns. This is the second novella of Kailin’s I’ve read today and I’m not happy with how either ended. They both end of horrible cliffhangers. I will say that I liked this one more than the Blue Room Vol. 1, though.

I was drawn in from the beginning. The vague text message promising to help Laura save her reputation only gave the illusion of more suspense to come. And this book is full of it. I may not be emotionally attached to the characters, but I will give Kailin some points on knowing how to keep one on their toes.

Overall I give this novella four stars. I am really mad about the cliffhanger ending. I didn’t know that this was the first in a series. So, watch out. I don’t often complain about cliffhangers, but I was totally into this one. And I read it as a paperback, so I thought there was more, because there were more pages, but they were just acknowledgments and stuff.

Anyways, I will probably be picking up the next novella in this six book series. It was pretty good.
