One introverted girl. One extroverted guy. One assignment. One afternoon. Then everything changed… “You destroyed me.” Novah wanted nothing more than to walk away, never see him again. She was determined to pick up the pieces of her tarnished reputation and move on. Her torture became her muse, earning her well-deserved notoriety for capturing beauty with her lens. She had come full circle. She had it all…until he returned. Nolan found himself surrounded by the grim facets of life, no longer the prominent boy from an affluent family who’d caught Novah’s eye. The years had been unkind and left him in the dark, painful trenches of life. He needed her help. Fifteen years can equate to a lifetime of change, neither one the same person they once were. Despite the humiliation, the latent wounds, the missing years…they’re destined to heal one another in unexpected ways. “You saved me.” Review by Lorena Oh my gosh, Leddy Harper has a way to destroy me. Her books always imprint themselves in me and they stay with me for a long time. They have such strong meaning and the stories are always so deep. I couldn't believe how beautiful this story was. A man who was wrongly accused of something he had no control of as a teenager that ultimately cost him the girl he liked and also changed how his life turned out to be. A broken man who has so much anger towards this girl, a woman who he felt that destroyed his life, little did he know that she's not the one who destroyed his life. They were misunderstandings, but Nolan's father was a very powerful man and what he wanted he got. Since Nolan had obviously disgraced him, he sent him to the service and Nolan served a few wars and caused him some traumatic experiences. Novah harbored hatred towards Nolan because she always believed that he was out to just humiliate her. When Nolan comes back into Novah's life, they realize that neither one was at fault for what happened 15 years ago. Novah is determined to help Nolan and recapture what they lost all those years ago. She's there for him and wants to help him. But Nolan has so much to work on and he just can't accept things to continue on like nothing ever happened. Can Nolan eventually forget the past and move forward with Novah? This story, just like the others from this author tears my heart apart into a million pieces and manages to put them back together. I love Ms. Harper's style of writing, her stories have a way to stick with me and I always, always consider her books to be one of my fav's of the year. Total 5 star read for this amazing book! About the Author Leddy Harper had to use her imagination often as a child. She grew up the only girl in a house full of boys. At the age of fourteen, she decided to use that imagination and wrote her first book, and never stopped. She often calls writing her therapy, using it as a way to deal with issues through the eyes of her characters. She is now a mother of three girls, leaving her husband as the only man in a house full of females. The decision to publish her first book was made as a way of showing her children to go after whatever it is they want to. Love what you do and do it well. Most importantly Leddy wanted to teach them what it means to overcome their fears.
