A woman trying to rebuild her life. Kennedy is doing all she can to escape, to prove that she’s not the monster her father was. A simple life of peace and service is all she needs. A man haunted by a past he can’t forget. Cain has buried his demons under layers of control and success. The only thing he needs is his company and his solitude. Certainly not a woman with captivating green eyes filled with ghosts so similar to his own. He’s a reminder of the life she’s left behind. And she’s a threat to his tightly guarded control. As sparks fly between them, they discover that what they might need most is each other. But with pasts like theirs . . . you never know when darkness might descend. 4 Heart Review by Ashley Since my last trip to Sutter Lake, I have been itching to return and get answers to the buckets of questions about their newest resident, Kennedy. And let me say, Catherine Cowles did not let me down. I adored Kennedy. Her bravery. Her charm. Her kindness. Her vulnerability. Her gratitude for the small things. How she stood up for what is right. How she did what she had to do for her own peace of mind and heart. How she didn't take any of Cain's crap. Goodness me, Cain! That big, broody man with the weight of the world, and his company on his shoulders. He needed a break and it lead him to the place that always felt like home, and in turn right into Kennedy's path. I liked that he pushed her. Tried to get to know her. And the more he learned the more he was enamored with her. Wanted to know more, experience more, feel more. But when tiny things start happening, it sets off all of his alarm bells and he knows he has to protect her too. She means too much to him. I was just as blindsided as Cain and Kennedy when it was revealed who was behind the mysteries plaguing them. True to form, Catherine Cowles took a sweet love story and wove it with drama and danger. There was heat and humor. Sass and smarts. And all the characters of this small town that I've come to love. Beautifully Broken Control had me hanging on every word. And that ending! So perfect. My heart is so full and happy for Kennedy and Cain. About the Author Writer of words. Drinker of Diet Cokes. Lover of all things cute and furry, especially her dog. Catherine has had her nose in a book since the time she could read and finally decided to write down some of her own stories. When she's not writing she can be found exploring her home state of Oregon, listening to true crime podcasts, or searching for her next book boyfriend.
