Ten years ago I fell in love with a married woman. I walked away so she could be happy, moving across the country to make sure I put space between us. We severed ties, and I promised myself I wouldn't look back. Since then I committed to someone else, and we have a child and a life many would wish for. Except, it's never been enough for me. There's always been something missing; something I never wanted to admit. With my own marriage failing, I'm forced to go back to my hometown to bury the man who raised me. I never expected to see her there, and nothing could prepare me for what would happen the moment my arms wrapped around hers again. *Stand Alone read, but also follows the characters featured in book two, BEREFT. Contains some adult content. Review by Lorena Wow, I totally loved this book and I fell in love with Chad, he has really stolen my heart. He had a heart of gold. He really sacrificed his love for a woman that was already taken, he broke up his own heart and moved far away to let her live happy. Ultimately he made the decision for them both and didn't want to make it hard on her so he left, he moved to LA to be far away from her. Ten years have passed and Chad had to come back home to deal with his grandfather's passing. In taking care of business he runs into Rachel again and his old feelings resurface. The only thing is that Chad is married and has a daughter that means the world to him. He fell in love with his current wife, Veronica but he realized that she really wasn't the woman he thought she was. Now in the midst of his grandpa's death, his marriage falling apart and Rachel back in his life.....things just end up getting complicated. Rachel vowed that she was going to move on and take one day at a time after her husband died. The last thing she expected was for Chad to seek her out again. She didn't want to be the "other" woman no matter how much she loved him. But Chad made promises to her that in the end he didn't know if he was going to be able to keep especially with everything that came tumbling down on him once he was ready to divorce his wife and make a life with Rachel. It all sounded simple but in reality it wasn't. Chad had a lot to work on and he had a lot on his plate. I felt bad for him because he was all over the place and he just didn't know where to be or how to go about things in the end. His life was in shambles. Just when he thought he could be happy again with the woman he truly loved, something came in-between. Life isn't fair but really, when is enough is enough!! This book really touched me especially seeing what his wife went through in the end. It's hard and sad to deal with things like these in life and having to take care of people under these conditions. Chad literally had his heart split in two going through this and not knowing if he could leave his wife in her condition or leaving Rachel AGAIN after he just got her back. Chad had many things to work through and it literally tore me apart to see everything he had to go through. This man deserved nothing but happiness because he was the type that was caring and always put everyone else's needs above his. If anything, he deserved to be happy and be with the woman he really truly loved. I sincerely and utterly loved this book. Totally one of my top read this year! 5 stars!!
