It was supposed to be a summer we’d never forget.
Instead, everything was stolen from me.
The best friend who was more like a sister. The innocent way I looked at life.
Leaving me with only unanswered questions.

Returning to the island is the second chance I didn’t know I needed.
And Hunter is the surprise that knocks me sideways.

There’s a hurt in him that calls to my own.
A strength I find in sharing our scars.
Igniting a spark that turns to flame.

But someone isn’t happy about the world I’m building for myself.
And nothing will stop them from tearing it all apart…

4 Heart Review by Ashley

I swear traveling to Anchor Island is always an adventure. And that is no more evident than the final installment of this thrilling series. When I say Beneath the Wreckage grabbed me from the start, I mean the prologue had me emotions coming out to play.

Flash forward a decade and that is where things pick up. With Piper returning to the island to live out her dream. One that wasn't hers alone and stirred up all kinds of painful memories. But good ones as well. And as she got into the nitty gritty of the rehab work on The Falls, she was also spending a lot of time with Hunter.

It was only a matter of time before their business relationship took a turn towards the personal. As the renovation progressed, some threats against Piper started escalating and brought out all of Hunter's protective instincts. And fears after what he had endured. I LOVED that Piper didn't let the fear overtake her. It would've been so easy, especially after the tragedy that took place there so many years ago.

As that particular thread unraveled, my jaw was on the floor. Catherine Cowles got me good with that one- I didn't see the double twist coming at all. Whew! Piper and Hunter's quasi workplace romance was the perfect way to wrap up this series (sobs). It had everything...danger wrapped in mystery wrapped in redemption and community. It was full of friendships and family, humor and heat and I couldn't get enough.
